Ning An's Wild Wish System

Ning An, along with the livestream viewers, also thought of this joke, but his face didn’t change. After introducing himself too, he asked with some confusion, ”Since there are no suspects at Changchun Temple, then you two are...?”

Although being a police officer is also a job, in Dragon Country, its significance is far different from any other occupation.

Wherever the police appear, it indicates something has happened there, let alone criminal police officers who scare even children into silence.

”I’m the one who came to light incense.”

Captain Zheng smiled wryly as he stepped forward, exchanged a few polite words, and then got to the point.

”Sigh, it’s like this, I took on a case half a year ago, and so far, there is still no result.”

Half a year?

Could it be a homicide case?

This thought crossed Ning An’s mind as he tried to comfort, ”In Dragon Country, over so many years, there have been many homicide cases, even now not every case is solved, Captain, there’s no need to dwell on it...”

Before Ning An finished speaking, Captain Zheng’s face turned even more bitter, ”It’s not a homicide case.”

”Hmm?” Now it was Ning An’s turn to be surprised.

As we all know, according to the laws of Dragon Country, if a case hasn’t been determined or resulted, a suspect can be detained until the day the results come out.

This means that as of now, the suspect has already been detained by the relevant departments for half a year!

Seeing Ning An’s somewhat shocked expression, Captain Zheng’s smile turned even more bitter and helpless.

Ning An, also confused about the whole situation, remained silent for a while.

After all, Dragon Country’s law states that the detention period by related institutions is up to thirty-seven days at most.

Unless it’s managed by the Supreme Court, where a single detention can last three months, and this can be indefinitely extended.

Other related institutions, if wanting to continue detention, must provide the requisite documentation, otherwise, they must release the suspect.

And if it’s under these circumstances, the evidence held by the police should be sufficient to convict the suspect; it shouldn’t be merely detained without being prosecuted?

Could it be they’re holding back for a major move?

After a cup of tea, Ning An thought of numerous possibilities.

Livestream viewers were puzzled by the suddenly tense atmosphere, and it was at this time that law students became useful, providing on-site explanations.

”Detention is a very strict coercive measure, and the maximum duration needs to be distinguished between administrative detention and criminal detention.

Administrative detention is holding a person who violates public security management in a detention center, generally not exceeding 15 days, and combining punishments not exceeding 20 days.

Criminal detention, according to the Criminal Procedure Law, allows the public security organs to criminally detain someone suspected of committing a crime, usually not exceeding 14 days.

For suspects of mobile crime, repeated crime, or gang crime, the detention can last up to 37 days.”

Upon hearing this explanation, the livestream viewers suddenly understood.

No wonder Ning An, who was previously all smiles, suddenly fell silent.

At this point, Captain Zheng handed over his phone, the browser showing a particular case.

Ning An looked closely, quickly skimming through all the information.

A forced intercourse case, the evidence seemed conclusive, and the suspect had signed and sealed the confession.

This already settled matter was incredibly delayed and even unprecedentedly dragged on for half a year?

While Ning An looked at the webpage information, Captain Zheng sighed, ”This case seems simple.”

”After all, from the existing evidence and the man’s signed confession, it’s sufficient to at least convict him of forced intercourse.”

”But there’s a significant contradiction here, which is that this case is not a typical forced intercourse case.”

”After the engagement of both parties in the presence of their parents, they went to their matrimonial home, and then the woman reported to the police that the man forced intercourse with her that day.”

”We, normal people, might think that after an engagement, such matters between men and women wouldn’t constitute forced intercourse.”

”But according to our country’s law, even between spouses, if the wife is unwilling and the husband forces intercourse, it’s also illegal.”

”From the evidence provided by the woman’s recorder and camera, we directly detained the man, but during our prosecution, a vague issue arose.”

”That is, the man’s parents argued that the woman intended to scam the bride price and even presented related evidence.”

”This matter stirred up a significant storm online, so the court had no choice but to be extremely cautious, resulting in this absurd outcome of being detained for half a year with no sentencing.”

”...”

After listening to Captain Zheng’s account, Ning An didn’t immediately respond.

Instead, it was the livestream viewers who, upon realizing which case it was, erupted.

”I know which case this is, isn’t this that engagement case?”

”I know the woman, she’s from our area, she’s a bride price scammer, she’s already scammed two families before, I didn’t expect she’d meet someone tough this time, refusing mediation even if it means going to jail!”

”Holy sh*t! Dude, tell us more.”

”It’s not complicated, the woman is a professional bride price scammer, the first two men were also scammed by her, I don’t know how this one got scammed, but I know the woman hired a mediator, and as long as the man agrees to mediation and gives up the bride price, she can issue an apology letter.”

”What? Is there no justice? I have to both lose the bride price and admit I’m wrong?!”

”The law indeed stipulates that, even for married couples, as long as the wife disagrees, and the husband forces intercourse, as long as there is sufficient evidence, it starts with a sentence of at least three years.”
