Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2739: Chapter 2739: She Really Can’t Get Her Priorities Straight

When Jian’er left to handle the case, she promised Jian’er that she wouldn’t speak recklessly, and as a result...

”And also, don’t meddle with the matters between Jian’er and Cheng’er in the future. If I find out you’re making moves again, just see if I won’t divorce you back to your daughter’s family!”

Lord Gong realized there was no reasoning with this lady and could only issue a warning.

He still had to think carefully about how, if Prince Zheng found out it was because of his wife that the Empress was sent to the Supreme Palace, he might hold their Gong family accountable.

Prince Zheng is the Empress’s own son. Although he doesn’t have much capability, he is still a prince, which is not something a minor subject like him can compete with.

”I...”

Lady Gong still wanted to say something, but it was clear Lord Gong no longer wished to speak with her. He shook his sleeve and turned to leave.

She bit her lip. Though unwilling, she could only return to her own courtyard.

All of this is the fault of Prince Zhan and Prince An Yang. She merely wanted Cheng’er to come back and find a wife, not that Cheng’er couldn’t go to Huayan Peak in the future.

What right did they have to disagree and even interfere in their Gong family’s private affairs?

These two people—how did she not know they were such detestable people before? Now that she sees it clearly, it truly was a misjudgment. When Cheng’er returns, she will definitely speak with her son, letting him know what kind of person this sworn brother of his really is.

”I must get Cheng’er to come back. If not, then I will... I will...”

She didn’t dare do anything. First, seeing Lord Gong in a rage made her somewhat timid; second, with the Empress in that state, she didn’t have the courage to oppose Qian Jiyun and An Jiuyue.

Taking a deep breath, she turned around, deciding to return to her courtyard for now.

...

”That Lady Gong truly doesn’t have a clear mind.”

On the horse carriage returning to the Prince’s Mansion, An Jiuyue sighed softly and spoke.

If it were up to her temperament, being spoken to like that, she would directly return Lady Gong’s son.

But thinking of Gong Cheng, who liked to act petulant, she felt she could swallow this grievance. After all, that brat Gong Cheng was genuinely quite decent.

”It’s only because it’s Gong Cheng. If it were someone else, I’d act as if they don’t exist!”

”Hmm.”

Qian Jiyun raised his hand and gently ruffled her hair.

”Jiyun, has Lady Gong always been like this?” An Jiuyue couldn’t help but ask.

She remembered that when her elder brother seized power, the Gong family seemed inclined to stand by the Retired Emperor’s side, right? As well as the Fu family. Now that neither family was in trouble, was it because her elder brother, on account of Gong Cheng and Fu Ming, gave them a chance to reform?

But looking at Lord Gong just now, he didn’t seem like someone who would side with the Retired Emperor. Although he was polite to them, he was not servile nor flattering either.

It was simply a father standing from his son’s standpoint, showing respect to them.

”Yes.”

Qian Jiyun nodded.

”Lady Gong has never understood clearly. Even when the Zhao family was exterminated, she didn’t reflect at all.” He shook his head, feeling helpless about such a person.

The Zhao family was the most supportive of the Retired Emperor back then, not because of any particular loyalty, but because they could gain various benefits by following him.

So after the coup, the Zhao family ceased to exist.

As for Lady Gong, it was only because of the protection for the Gong Jian and Gong Cheng brothers, and Lord Gong’s strong defense, that they remained unscathed.
