Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2734: Chapter 2734: To Live an Utterly Unknown Life

This isn’t just a simple visit, you’ll be staying in the Supreme Palace for life.

He hoped this had nothing to do with his wife, otherwise...

He hadn’t expected that, upon returning home, he would hear that Prince Zhan and Prince An Yang had visited their residence not long ago, and Lady Gong was currently hosting them.

”The two princes came?”

Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, and he had a bad feeling.

Could his wife have gone to the palace and told the Empress something about the two princes, which led to their visit?

Otherwise, even if their younger son was working for Prince Zhan, it wouldn’t require both princes to visit them personally; sending someone to deliver a message would have sufficed.

”Did the princes say anything?” he anxiously asked the steward.

His wife—he really didn’t know what to say about her. He had advised her to keep a low profile and to be cautious while talking with other ladies.

Outwardly, she agreed readily, but in private, as soon as someone stirred things up, she’d impulsively act on it.

It wasn’t the first or second time this had happened. If not for their two sons, one working for the Emperor and the other for Prince Zhan, earning great trust, their Gong family would have been ruined by her mouth alone.

”Sir, the two princes are in the front hall, and the madam is with them. The old servant doesn’t know what they discussed,” the steward replied.

He wanted to stay in the front hall to serve, but the madam had sent him out, insisting he wait at the door for the master. He couldn’t understand why she didn’t just have someone else wait.

After all, he had served the master for many years, and if anything happened, he could at least deflect some of the issues for the madam.

When Lord Gong heard the steward’s report, his face darkened instantly.

”Come with me to the front hall immediately.”

He didn’t trust his wife’s indiscreet mouth to say anything helpful.

Especially now that both Gong Jian and Gong Cheng were successful, his wife didn’t care which master their sons worked under; she only thought she deserved credit for raising two good sons.

”Yes, sir.”

The steward responded and quickly followed Lord Gong to the front hall.

...

In the Gong residence’s front hall, Lady Gong resembled a quail at this moment, wishing she could shrink into a ball.

She had thought the two princes came for her son Cheng’er, hoping the wish she asked of the Empress would come true. As it turned out, they did come for Gong Cheng, but not in the way she had hoped.

”So, Lady Gong wishes for Gong Cheng to return, to come back to your side, marry, and have children, then find some minor official position in the Daqing Kingdom, living as a nobody, is that right?”

With a slight chuckle, An Jiuyue asked as she looked at the visibly retreating and slightly pale Lady Gong.

Most parents wish for their children to become successful, to be able to ascend Huayan Peak or Wulong Mountain, and anywhere among the planes would be the greatest honor.

But this Lady Gong, not only didn’t wish for her son to remain at Huayan Peak or to achieve something great.

Instead, she took advantage of their return to the capital to rush into the palace to plead with the Empress to bring her son back.

”Or does Lady Gong think that your son, Gong Cheng, being by your side, will achieve anything great? Has Lady Gong ever truly understood your son’s temperament and character?”
