Chapter 2717: Chapter 2717: The Retired Emperor Coughs Up Blood

”You two, hold this petition well, and show it to the Retired Emperor three times a day around mealtime to pass the time.” He summoned the two young eunuchs attending to the Retired Emperor and handed the petition to them.

As for him, he still had to return and report back.

After completing his task, he was ready to leave. When the Retired Emperor saw him about to depart, he disregarded his own pain and waved to him.

”Come back, you dog of a servant, get back here and take away those two wretched things An Jiuyue left behind, and make sure they are taken as far away as possible!” He did not want to see those two Paper Persons any longer.

Hearing the Retired Emperor’s words, Eunuch Fu raised an eyebrow, halted his steps, and turned his head to look at the two individuals firmly fixed on the Retired Emperor.

It still needed Prince An Yang to act, didn’t it? Now, it seemed the Retired Emperor was finally afraid.

How could he possibly remove those two people? At last, he had found the Retired Emperor’s weakness, and how he hoped those two individuals would remain closely watching over him.

That way, if the Retired Emperor made any questionable moves, he would find out because for sure, the eunuchs and maids from Supreme Palace would rush to seek the imperial physicians.

He’d have to be crazy to take away Prince An Yang’s people stationed at Supreme Palace!

Besides, those two were Prince An Yang’s people. Even if the Emperor himself came, they might not necessarily listen, let alone obeying the words of a mere servant such as him — this had to be a joke!

Taking a deep breath, he turned, revealing a fitting smile to the Retired Emperor.

”The Retired Emperor jests. You just mentioned, these two are here as Prince An Yang’s attendants to serve you, and being just a servant myself, how could I possibly take them away?

If you wish for their departure, you should personally speak to Prince An Yang. Perhaps, considering the Emperor, he’ll have these two taken back.”

Having said that, he turned and indeed left this time.

”You... Ugh!”

Anger stuck in the Retired Emperor’s throat, who truly spat out a mouthful of old blood.

Could he still see An Jiuyue?

Now confined in Supreme Palace, he simply couldn’t leave, and any slight move would bring about a lethal beating, which in fact was just one beating because his body had been relatively well-nourished.

Given the strength of those two Paper Persons, anyone weaker would have been beaten to death by now.

Under such circumstances, how was he supposed to see An Jiuyue?

”The Retired Emperor has spat blood.”

One of the eunuchs standing in the hall quickly hurried over to check when he saw Tai Shangyu coughing up blood.

This must be due to anger, right? He’s truly coughed up blood!

”Do we need to call the imperial physicians?”

He looked up at another eunuch, who was close by and assisting in checking the Retired Emperor’s condition. It seemed rather serious; how could a mere fracture cause such bleeding?

”No need, the imperial physicians should be arriving soon; let’s wait a bit longer.”

The other young eunuch replied calmly. Hadn’t someone already gone to summon the imperial physicians? They needn’t act unnecessarily.

Moreover, seeing the Retired Emperor, he was likely just gravely upset, but his life wasn’t truly at risk, so they needn’t worry excessively; they could just wait for the imperial physicians.

”You... you...”

The Retired Emperor was already convincing himself to calm down, but hearing the young eunuchs’ conversation only angered him more.

After all, he was still the Retired Emperor, and seeing him spit blood resulted in such a nonchalant response. Were he not currently trapped, he’d have ordered these two wretches to be torn to shreds to feed the beasts!
