Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2708: Chapter 2708: No Excessive Reproach

Denying it is certainly useless; the facts are right before them. Even if they really know nothing, as long as the two princes think they know, they must know.

As for how the two princes got wind of their return to the capital, does that matter?

No, that is not important at all. What matters is that they have learned of this news!

They had always wondered why the two princes would summon the Noble Clan Patriarchs. After hearing a word from Prince An Yang, they finally understood.

So it was because of this. If they had known earlier, they would have acted with more restraint.

All the Family Heads felt a tremor of fear in their hearts, dreading the possibility that these two might have discovered their actions of gathering intelligence in the palace and thoroughly investigated them, leaving them utterly without recourse.

In the future, they should be more cautious, instruct their people to be careful, lest they be discovered.

Actually, they held no malice; they were just trying to get some hints to make life easier for their families. On matters of principle, they dared not act recklessly.

Of course, most of the major clans were quite obedient, but a few clans, under the banner of supporting the Retired Emperor, were still dreaming of helping him ascend to the throne, aiming for personal elevation.

Although not many messages from the palace reached them, they still managed to obtain considerable information from inter-clan communications.

Whenever something happened, everyone knew it clearly in their minds, but they would not spread rumors carelessly.

However, if these things were related to their interests, there was no reason not to speak out.

”Prince An, you’re joking. It’s our duty to keep our youngsters in check,” said one Family Head, lowering his head with a self-deprecating smile.

”Yes, Prince An, we are just... just concerned about the people of the Northern Lands. With the unknown duration of this drought, their lives are really hard,”

The Head of the Ye Family, who had always wanted to make an appearance, also stepped forward and spoke.

Saying they sympathize with the people would never be wrong. At this moment, whether it’s the Emperor or these two, their focus should be on the drought in the Northern Lands.

”I understand that you are concerned about the people of the Northern Lands, so naturally, I will not be too harsh. It’s just that...” An Jiuyue elongated her words, her gaze lightly sweeping over these Noble Clan Patriarchs.

”How are you all concerned about the livelihoods in the Northern Lands?” she asked softly.

The Family Heads: ”...”

Completely choked by An Jiuyue’s question.

Meanwhile, apart from the Head of the Ye Family, the other family heads were inwardly cursing him. Why implicate them just to curry favor with the two princes?

In past Northern droughts, there was always the royal court; they never needed to intervene, and this time, there would have been no issue, yet the two princes from the Northern Lands dragged them into it.

They were already embittered, and now thanks to the Head of the Ye Family, they couldn’t escape without some contribution.

The Head of the Ye Family’s face turned pale, realizing that with a single sentence, he had offended all the major clans in the capital. With Prince An Yang’s statement, it was clear they were expected to make financial contributions.

The Northern Lands are far away, contributing effort isn’t feasible, so they could only offer money.

And how this money should be given, and how much, all needed careful consideration; it shouldn’t exceed that of the two princes, but it also cannot be too little.
