Chapter 2727: Chapter 2727: Lacking Finesse in Handling Affairs

”Uh!”

The attendant was choked.

”Reporting to the Family Head, the people below have received the message, but the Old Patriarch thinks that we’ve donated so much money, it’s already enough, and there’s no need to spend effort collecting grain.”

Upon hearing this, the Head of the Ye Family’s face turned green.

”That old thing, a miser!” he cursed out loud.

That stubborn old man who understands nothing, only knows how to guard the family money, nothing else. Don’t they know how rare this opportunity is?

Look at today, how embarrassing it was when he went to donate money, seeing other major clans unloading truck after truck of grain, while on his side, there was only money. The eyes of the common people looking at him, the Head of the Ye Family, were different.

It’s not just him; those other Noble Clan Patriarchs who didn’t collect grain, which of them doesn’t stare at those who donated grain like they are enemies?

Every time he thought about it, about how it was all because of his family’s old man, just because he was unwilling to let go of their money, it made him angry.

”How can he not know what matters? Is this the time to save that little bit of money? He spends more than that himself in a year, doesn’t he?”

He was extremely angry and cursed loudly.

The attendant didn’t dare to reply either. After all, the Old Patriarch is an elder of the Ye Family, and the Family Head is in a fit of anger and could curse a bit. But if he responds, when the Family Head calms down, he would be in trouble.

”Family Head, why don’t we go collect some grain and send it to the Ministry of Revenue?” he suggested.

Upon hearing this, the Head of the Ye Family glared at him fiercely.

Now going to collect grain and donate, what’s the point? Following trends isn’t something to do at this time; doing it now would just make him lose more face. It’s only reminding others that the Ye Family doesn’t handle things smoothly.

Moreover, collect what grain? He could bet that those grain-donating major clans have certainly bought out all the grain in the capital and nearby.

Collect grain, to collect grain would be a miracle; it’s definitely unavailable.

”Get out, get out!”

He was filled with anger and kicked the attendant harshly.

They are all useless and more harmful than beneficial, can’t even handle small matters well. When other families were collecting grain for such a big deal, how come no one notified him?

No need to say, it must be that old thing not letting the people below notify him!

...

”I didn’t expect there to be this much.”

In the imperial study room, Qian Jiyun gently murmured as he saw the list handed over by the Ministry of Revenue.

”Unfortunately, there’s no grain left with An Jiuyue, otherwise, we could have earned some more.”

”This grain is enough for the border soldiers for a year.” The Emperor said with a cheerful expression.

It’s just, he heard reports from below that the grain in the capital is nearly bought out by those major clans. To get more, we’ll have to wait until the autumn harvest season.

During this period, we’ll have to transfer some grain from elsewhere to the capital.

”When are you departing?” he asked.

”In a few days, wait until you try Lu’er’s braised pork tribute.” Qian Jiyun answered.

Emperor: ”...”

Forget it, he’s heard that those few kids at Prince Zhan Residence aren’t peaceful for a day, either cooking this dish or that.

Pity the food tasters, wonder how many times they have to visit the toilet in a day.

”Have you tried it?” he asked.

”Hmm?”

Qian Jiyun raised his eyebrows and looked at him.

Does he seem like someone who would let himself be wronged?
