Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 838: Chapter 881: Children Are the Most Sensitive

Ruan Zhitong broke free from Mu Beiting’s embrace, gripping his arm tightly, her emotions extremely agitated as she said, ”Impossible, you must be comforting me. My face is so swollen, how could it be okay! And these injuries... husband, am I going to be disfigured?”

Mu Beiting held Ruan Zhitong’s hand in return, promising confidently, ”I assure you, you will not be disfigured! Even if you are, I will always stay by your side and never despise you! Besides, with how advanced medicine is today, they will surely be able to heal your face!”

Looking into Mu Beiting’s sincere eyes, Ruan Zhitong asked somewhat uncertainly, ”You really won’t despise me?”

Mu Beiting nodded solemnly, ”I swear! No matter what, the four of us will never be apart! We will always be together!”

”Husband...!” Hearing this, Ruan Zhitong felt a sourness in her nose and threw herself into Mu Beiting’s arms, a barely noticeable hint of jealousy flashing in her tearful eyes.

Seeing Ruan Zhitong’s emotions stabilize, the doctor secretly breathed a sigh of relief and quickly added, ”Since the madam is currently quite frail, it’s not suitable for heavy nourishment. So, for the next few days, try to consume light food, preferably congee and vegetables! Once the madam’s body has mostly recovered, then you can start on nutritional supplements!”

”Alright, we understand! Thank you, doctor!” Mu Beiting didn’t speak; the butler responded to the doctor with a smile, then escorted the doctor and nurse out.

Though he felt that speaking now would spoil the pleasant atmosphere between the mister and madam, for the sake of the madam’s well-being, the butler pondered it over and still braced himself to speak, ”Madam, are you hungry? I’ll call the home kitchen staff to prepare some congee and send it over! You haven’t eaten all day and night; you need to have a little something!”

Ruan Zhitong retreated from Mu Beiting’s embrace and squinted her eyes, giving the butler a sweet smile, ”Thank you, butler!”

”No need, no need!” The butler replied bashfully with a smile, preparing to go outside the ward to make the call, but was stopped by Ruan Zhitong, ”Butler, bring me Chu Yi! I want to see her!”

The butler nodded, walked to the bedside, and handed little Chu Yi into Ruan Zhitong’s arms.

However, the moment little Chu Yi, who was fine just a moment ago, was placed in Ruan Zhitong’s arms, her little brows furrowed and she immediately began to cry loudly.

Seeing little Chu Yi cry suddenly after being perfectly fine just now, the butler wondered aloud, ”What’s wrong with the young lady? She was fine just now.”

Ruan Zhitong gazed at the crying little Chu Yi in her arms with a pained expression, ”Is Chu Yi hungry?”

The butler replied certainly, ”No, she just had milk; how could she be hungry?”

”Then what’s going on?” Ruan Zhitong slightly furrowed her brows, then patiently tried to soothe little Chu Yi in her arms!

However, no matter how she coaxed, little Chu Yi cried even harder! She wouldn’t even glance at Ruan Zhitong!

Watching little Chu Yi cry so intensely in Ruan Zhitong’s arms, Mu Beiting and the butler both furrowed their brows.

The butler was even more perplexed.

Though the young lady liked to cling to the mister, she only enjoyed acting spoiled in his arms! When the madam held her or spoke to her, she definitely wouldn’t cry so hard! What happened today? Why is she crying endlessly, even louder than when she was at home earlier! It’s as if she finds the madam extremely disagreeable and couldn’t wait to escape her embrace!

But the madam is her birth mother! How could the young lady reject her own birth mother? She was fine before!

No matter how much the butler thought about it, he couldn’t understand the reason behind this.

What he didn’t know was that children’s sensitivity was often sharper than adults’. Adults use their eyes to observe when speaking, but children rely entirely on their feelings.

Seeing that little Chu Yi couldn’t be soothed, Ruan Zhitong looked up at Mu Beiting in distress, ”Husband, is Chu Yi scared by how I look now? My face... has changed so much, does Chu Yi not recognize me anymore?”

Ruan Zhitong’s words seemed to instantly resolve the doubts in Mu Beiting and the butler’s hearts, and their previous worries gradually faded away.

”Chu Yi is still young. When your face heals, she’ll want you!” Saying this, Mu Beiting reached out, taking little Chu Yi from Ruan Zhitong’s arms.

Strangely enough, as soon as Mu Beiting held little Chu Yi, she stopped crying immediately! Although her small body hiccuped, and tears were still on her face, she indeed wasn’t crying anymore, even flashing Mu Beiting a sweet smile.

Watching little Chu Yi smiling so happily in Mu Beiting’s arms, Ruan Zhitong couldn’t help but lower her eyes in disappointment, ”It seems little Chu Yi truly resents me as her mother! She’s scared by how I look now!”

Mu Beiting quickly comforted, ”It’s okay, your face will heal eventually! And a mother is a mother; blood is thicker than water. She’ll gradually accept how you look now!”

Ruan Zhitong nodded, not very confident, ”I hope so!”

Seeing little Chu Yi stop crying, the butler then added, ”Then sir, you hold the young lady first. I’ll go make a call home to have them prepare something good for the madam!”

”Mm!” Mu Beiting nodded lightly, and the butler left the ward.

After the butler left, Ruan Zhitong seemed to suddenly recall something, raising her head abruptly, asking nervously, ”Right, what about my mom? Is she alright? Did Su Yuexin’s mom hurt her at all?”

Mu Beiting smiled and said, ”Don’t worry! She’s fine now! I’ll give her a call later to assure her!”

Ruan Zhitong apologized, ”I’m sure my mom is very worried since this happened to me! It’s all my fault; I just wanted to take her out for a nice meal and didn’t expect to run into Su Yuexin’s mom. It’s my fault if I had agreed to plead for Su Yuexin’s release in front of you, she wouldn’t have gotten so agitated and pushed me into the river!”

With one arm holding little Chu Yi, Mu Beiting patted Ruan Zhitong’s head with the other, ”It’s all in the past now, don’t dwell on it!”

Ruan Zhitong felt guilty, ”Husband, you must have been very worried too! Did you have a hard time finding me? The moment I fell into the river, I never thought I’d survive.”

Mu Beiting said calmly, ”It was Ye Shan who found you this time!”

Upon hearing Mu Beiting’s words, Ruan Zhitong feigned surprise, gasping in disbelief, ”Ye Shan? How could it be him? How did he find me?”

Hearing this, a subtle glimmer flickered in Mu Beiting’s deep eyes, his thin lips slightly curved with a meaningful expression, ”It’s a long story; first, focus on recovering, and we can talk about it once you’re well!”

Seeing Mu Beiting seemingly unwilling to continue, Ruan Zhitong wisely opted to remain silent!
