Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 831: Chapter 874: What Happened to Mom?

The kiss from Mu Beiting carried all his emotions, as if the person in his arms wasn’t his daughter, but the woman he deeply loved.

Watching Mu Beiting deeply kiss little Chu Yi, although he said nothing and his face looked as usual, Mother Ye could still clearly feel that he was in great pain, very tense! His pain was not less than hers! However, in this situation, they had to remain calm; this was not the time for sadness and grief.

Even though Mu Beiting did not dive into the water with the others to rescue anyone, he stayed on the boat the whole time, waiting for the latest news.

When little Chu Yi got hungry, Mother Ye found milk and a bottle from the backpack that Ruan Zhitong brought over, cleaned them, and fed her the milk.

Night fell, and an afternoon quickly passed! Yet, the search and rescue team still found nothing, not a single piece of information!

After directing everyone to search once more, Pete came up to report, ”Boss, the first group of rescuers that went down have now all come ashore to rest, and the second group has replaced them! However, we’ve searched the nearby and downstream areas that needed searching, and there is still no news of Madam! You... you should prepare yourself mentally!” At the last sentence, Pete couldn’t help but lower his head.

He knew how cruel these words were to the boss! But so many have been dredging for an entire afternoon; at this point, even if it were a body, it should have been brought up! But there is still no news! Either she’s been swept by the river to some unknown place, or... or something else has happened.

Anyway, someone has been in the water the whole afternoon without any trace; it surely doesn’t bode well.

Hearing Pete’s words, Mother Ye felt darkness descend, her body swayed, almost fainting on the spot! The tears she had managed to hold back started flowing again.

But she dared not cry out loud; she feared that her crying would break through Mu Beiting’s facade of strength and draw out the buried sadness, so she swallowed all her sobs back down her throat.

Mu Beiting declared domineeringly and wildly, ”Send most people downstream to search, and a few keep looking here! Nobody rests until Anxin is found! Even if you have to turn over the whole Yangtze River, she must be brought back to me!”

”I understand, I will instruct them right away!” Pete said nothing more and turned to leave.

He knew that at this critical moment, regardless of how inappropriate the boss’s words might be, he couldn’t utter a single challenge!

Just as Mother Ye was grieving so intensely that she almost wanted to jump into the Yangtze River with Ruan Zhitong, her phone suddenly rang in her pocket.

She was startled for a moment before taking out her phone; it was a call from the Mu Family Villa, and she answered, putting it to her ear.

On the other end came the elderly voice of the butler, ”Hello, is this Madam? This is the butler! What exactly happened to Madam? What’s the current situation?”

Upon hearing the butler’s concern, Mother Ye could only cry and was unable to speak.

Seeing her silent, the butler patiently asked again, ”Madam, can you hear me? The young master is asking about Madam’s situation. What should I tell him?” Before the butler finished his sentence, Xiao Bai snatched the phone from him and eagerly asked, ”Grandma, where’s my mom? Didn’t she say she was going to see you this morning? Why hasn’t she come back yet? Where’s Dad? The butler said you asked him for Dad’s phone number today? You said Mom was in trouble? What happened to Mom? Where are you guys now?”

Mother Ye closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and after a while, barely found her voice again, ”Xiao Bai...! You’re... you’re still young, stay at home obediently, your mom will be fine, she’ll definitely be fine!”

While speaking, she deliberately kept her voice calm and steady.

However, once she spoke, it was still incredibly hoarse and with a strong nasal sound.

Being as smart as Xiao Bai, he immediately sensed the irregularity in Mother Ye’s voice, frowned beautifully, and said displeased, ”Are you crying? What really happened to my mom? Where are you guys now? If you don’t tell me, I’ll come to your house to find you!”

Unexpectedly, Xiao Bai was so smart, and recalling the situation of her precious daughter’s whereabouts unknown, Mother Ye couldn’t help herself and started to cry loudly.

The more she cried, the more worried Xiao Bai became on the other end of the phone, feeling more restless and chaotic.

Just as Xiao Bai’s patience reached its limit, Mu Beiting grabbed the phone from Mother Ye, ”Xiao Bai!”

Upon hearing Mu Beiting’s voice, Xiao Bai eagerly asked, ”Dad, where’s Mom? What happened to Mom? Why is Grandma crying non-stop? Did something happen to Mom? Where are you now? I want to come find you!”

”I’m at the riverside now, have the butler bring you here!” With that, Mu Beiting hung up the phone.

After Mu Beiting ended the call and returned the phone to Mother Ye, she asked worriedly, ”Xiao Bai is still young, if he comes over and finds out about this, can his young heart bear it?”

Without expression, Mu Beiting replied, ”He’s not that young anymore, he’s already six years old. Many things can be known! As a man, he should be able to withstand everything!”

Upon hearing this, Mother Ye opened her mouth, wanting to say something but ultimately said nothing!

After all, this matter couldn’t be hidden; Xiao Bai would find out sooner or later! Instead of letting him draw wild conclusions and guesses, it was better to tell him about the loss now so he could prepare himself mentally!

Due to the physical demands of the dredging, as night fell, Pete ordered takeout for all the dredgers!

With the takeout in hand, Pete walked over to Mu Beiting, concerned, ”Boss, it’s already past seven, you should eat something! Although Madam hasn’t been found yet, Miss and the young master still need your care!”

Mu Beiting didn’t even spare him a glance, ”I’m not hungry,” he said emotionlessly.

”...!” Pete sighed inwardly and said no more, placing the lunchbox silently on the table beside Mu Beiting before walking away.

After everyone finished eating and went back into the water to resume the search, the butler arrived with Xiao Bai.

Seeing the spectacle at the riverside, Xiao Bai’s unease grew. He exchanged a glance with the butler, and they boarded the boat together, quickly spotting Mu Beiting, holding little Chu Yi and staring out at the river surface, and Mother Ye beside him, her eyes swollen into slits from crying.

Xiao Bai walked over anxiously, ”Dad! What’s going on? Where’s Mom?”

Although he vaguely guessed something in his heart, unless Mu Beiting personally confirmed it, he wouldn’t believe it.
