Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 836: Chapter 879: Concern

In the hospital, Mu Beiting had been holding Ruan Zhitong’s hand the whole time, silently keeping watch by the bedside!

At noon, Pete brought in a boxed lunch and handed it to Mu Beiting. ”President, you haven’t eaten anything since last night. I just ordered this takeout. I know you’re really worried about Madam, but you still have to eat at least a little. Otherwise, when Madam wakes up and you collapse from hunger, then what?”

Mu Beiting looked up at Pete, said nothing, carefully placed Ruan Zhitong’s hand down by the side of the bed, took the lunch box Pete handed over, and slowly started eating.

Seeing that Mu Beiting was finally willing to eat something, Pete finally let out a breath of relief. ”President, there are still some things that need to be handled at the company. I’ll go back first. If you need anything, just give me a call!”

”Mm.” Mu Beiting gave a slight nod.

Pete looked at Mu Beiting one last worried glance, then turned and left!

If it weren’t for the fact that there really was work at the company and with the president absent everything had to be handled by him alone, he would definitely have stayed here to keep the president company!

But half a day yesterday plus half a day today had already delayed a lot. A company still needed to run. Since the president couldn’t go back, he could only take care of everything himself!

After Pete left, Mu Beiting ate more than half of the lunch box. He really couldn’t eat any more of the rest, so he threw it all into the trash can outside.

Not long after Mu Beiting finished eating, the phone in his pocket started ringing.

Mu Beiting took out his phone, glanced at the caller ID, then answered and put it to his ear. ”Hello...”

On the other end came Xiao Bai’s worried voice. ”Daddy! Did you find Mommy? I’m so worried about Mommy!”

Mu Beiting raised his brows. ”You didn’t go to school today?”

Afraid that Mu Beiting would misunderstand, Xiao Bai hurried to explain, ”No! I’m at school! Isn’t it lunch break now? So I snuck out to call you. I wanted to ask about Mommy!”

Hearing this, Mu Beiting said expressionlessly, ”We’ve already found her. It’s fine now.”

”Really? Where is Mommy now? Has she already come home?” A child was still a child. No matter how mature he acted, in front of certain things that childishness would still show. Just like now—when he heard that his mother was fine, Xiao Bai immediately showed the same kind of happy, disbelieving expression as any other kid.

Mu Beiting explained, ”Mommy is in the hospital recuperating right now. She’ll come home when she’s recovered.”

Hearing that, Xiao Bai asked anxiously, ”Mommy’s in the hospital? What’s wrong with Mommy? She’s not in danger, is she? Which hospital are you at? I’ll come right now!”

”Mommy’s fine, she just fell into the water and got frightened. You’re in class right now, you’re not allowed to skip. After school this afternoon, I’ll have the butler bring you over.” Mu Beiting knew Xiao Bai cared about his mother, so he didn’t stop him from coming to visit.

Hearing this, Xiao Bai pouted unhappily. ”I understand all the lessons at school, I already know everything. What does it matter if I go or not?”

Mu Beiting’s brows knit together, and he said in a deep voice, ”There are rules. When you have class, you follow the rules for class. If you don’t agree, I won’t tell you which hospital we’re in.”

”Ugh... fine then.” Faced with Mu Beiting’s threat, Xiao Bai didn’t dare protest anymore and could only agree reluctantly.

”Call me again after school this afternoon. I’ll tell you the name of the hospital then.” After saying this, he directly hung up without giving Xiao Bai a chance to complain.

Listening to the busy tone in the phone, Xiao Bai’s little face flushed red with anger, but he was powerless. He could only stomp back into the classroom, puffing with frustration.

After finishing the call with Xiao Bai, Mu Beiting sat back down beside the hospital bed and once again tightly held Ruan Zhitong’s hand.

Although Ruan Zhitong’s face was still very pale, compared to when she had just come out of the emergency room in the morning, her hands were already much warmer!

Mu Beiting had just sat down when the phone in his pants pocket rang again. He pulled it out impatiently, glanced at the caller ID, saw that it was from the Mu Family Villa, then answered and held it to his ear. ”Hello.”

”Sir, the young lady is making a terrible fuss. She’s probably crying for Madam. No matter what we do, we can’t calm her down. You know, sir, whenever the young lady cries for Madam, the only person who can coax her is you.” The implication was obvious—they wanted to bring little Chu Yi over to Mu Beiting.

The butler had been with Mu Beiting for decades. If it had been in the past, no matter how much the young lady cried, he would never have dared make this call to Mu Beiting!

But things were different now. Sir had changed a lot. Most importantly, he treated the young lady like the apple of his eye. Now that Madam had disappeared and the young lady was fussing so badly, and with everyone at home taking turns trying and failing to soothe her, he really had no other options left but to call Mu Beiting!

On the other end of the line, Mu Beiting could almost clearly hear little Chu Yi’s heart‑wrenching cries.

Hearing Chu Yi cry like that, a flicker of distress flashed through Mu Beiting’s eyes. His tone softened a little, and he said gently, ”Bring her to the hospital.” As he spoke, he told the butler the name of the hospital and the ward number.

”Okay, I’ll take the young lady over right away!” Having received his orders, the butler broke into a delighted smile!

He knew it—no matter what happened, Sir still loved the young lady the most. How could he bear to let her cry so sadly?

After hanging up, the butler immediately told the nanny to pack things up: diapers, formula, bottles, all of it packed into a bag. Then he had a servant carry the bag while he himself carried the baby, and they got into the business van and headed straight for the hospital Mu Beiting had mentioned!

Sitting beside the hospital bed, with just a door between them, Mu Beiting could clearly hear a baby’s heart‑rending wails drawing closer and closer.

Hearing that crying, Mu Beiting quickly stood up, opened the ward door, and walked out toward the end of the corridor!

Halfway down the corridor, he could see from a distance the butler carrying little Chu Yi and coming this way!

Mu Beiting strode forward and, without hesitation, took little Chu Yi from the butler’s arms into his own!

Strangely enough, the tiny three‑month‑old baby really did seem to recognize people. As soon as she was in Mu Beiting’s arms, she stopped crying instantly. Her big eyes, still hanging with teardrops, narrowed as she gave Mu Beiting a sweet little smile.

Seeing how little Chu Yi was like an actress—crying on cue, smiling on cue—the butler was in awe and couldn’t help saying, ”The young lady has been crying for so long. She’s finally smiling!”

The hard lines of Mu Beiting’s face softened the moment he saw little Chu Yi. While gently wiping away the tears on her cheeks, he teased her, ”Little one, with Daddy and Mommy not by your side, you missed us, didn’t you?”

As if she understood his words, little Chu Yi lay in his arms and giggled nonstop, happier than ever!
