Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 544: Chapter 587: Probing the Past

After drying herself, Ye Anxin put on the home clothes she had just brought into the bathroom!

She felt much more relaxed after a nap and a fragrant hot bath! Her face, steamed by the heat, had a rosy glow, resembling a ripe apple that was irresistible to take a bite from.

Watching the lovely Ye Anxin before him, Mu Beiting lowered his head and planted a kiss on her cheek.

Ye Anxin’s face turned even redder. She gave him a playful glare before getting dressed and leaving the bathroom.

Mu Beiting curled his thin lips slightly and followed her out of the bathroom.

Ye Anxin walked to the window, opened it, and took a deep breath of the fresh air outside, feeling much more at ease.

This time, she didn’t bother to dry the water droplets in her hair! Since it wasn’t winter yet, she decided to let her hair dry naturally, which was better for it.

Mu Beiting approached her, encircled her slender waist from behind, and rested his chin in her shoulder nook, deeply inhaling the fragrance of her shower gel.

The warm breath from Mu Beiting on her neck made it itch unbearably, and Ye Anxin couldn’t help but giggle, hunching her shoulders. ”So ticklish! Uncle, stop breathing on my neck. It really tickles!”

Mu Beiting’s hands trailed up her slender waist and stopped at the left side of her chest, his voice husky and alluring. ”Is it itchy here?”

Ye Anxin blushed and nodded fervently, ”Yes, yes! It’s tickling my heart!”

”I like it!” Mu Beiting dominantly uttered these three words, only to breathe harder and make Ye Anxin’s heart itch even more.

Having no choice, Ye Anxin placed her hand in front of Mu Beiting’s nose to block him.

”Hmm...!” Mu Beiting moved his head in dissatisfaction, trying to remove Ye Anxin’s hand.

But Ye Anxin refused to move, determined not to let Mu Beiting tease her further.

Mu Beiting frowned, an unabashed displeasure etched on his face.

Even though she couldn’t see his expression, Ye Anxin knew Mu Beiting was angry, so she quickly diverted his attention with a laugh, ”Uncle, do you think that Miss Qin we met at the hospital could be your biological sister?”

Mu Beiting replied without hesitation, directly denying, ”No way!”

Ye Anxin furrowed her brows and insisted, ”But... but you two look so alike! Like you came from the same womb!”

”...!” Mu Beiting didn’t answer.

Ye Anxin hesitated for a moment, but couldn’t help asking, ”Uncle, do you know where your biological mother is?”

”No idea!” Mu Beiting answered swiftly, without any hesitation.

Ye Anxin boldly voiced her speculation, ”How did she leave you back then? Do you think she might have remarried after leaving you, and Miss Qin is her daughter from a later marriage?”

She knew very little about Uncle’s biological mother!

She had only heard from Yan Qinghan that Uncle’s mom used to work at a cabaret! Up until Uncle was ten years old, she was still exchanging her body for money!

But after Uncle was brought back to the Mu Family by the old man, where did his mother go? She hadn’t appeared in twenty-five years!

Didn’t she ever think about her son? Uncle was still a piece of flesh that came from her belly. Could she really erase him from her memory and heart?

Moreover, in twenty-five years, a woman wouldn’t remain lonely for a lifetime. It would be normal for her to marry and have children!

And Miss Qin seemed to be a bit younger than her! Age-wise, her speculation wasn’t unfounded!

”Her matters have nothing to do with me!” Even though Ye Anxin’s curiosity was strong, Mu Beiting’s words remained indifferent, showing no emotional fluctuation, as if it had nothing to do with him.

Ye Anxin asked with confusion, ”Uncle, have you really never considered seeing your mother again? Aren’t you curious about how she’s been? Don’t you want to ask her why she’s ignored you for twenty-five years?”

Mu Beiting decisively uttered two words, ”I don’t!”

Ye Anxin whispered with a hint of sadness, ”Don’t you have any feelings for her at all? You lived together for ten years!”

”No!” Mu Beiting remained firm with his answer.

Listening to Mu Beiting’s emotionally unresponsive reply, Ye Anxin felt a deep ache in her heart!

The minimal reliance and fondness a child should have for their mother was completely absent in Uncle!

Was Uncle truly cold-hearted, or did this mother fail too miserably?

Ye Anxin asked with pity, ”What if one day you meet her, or she comes to find you, what will you do?”

Mu Beiting’s expression remained unchanged as he replied, ”I never think about things that haven’t happened!”

Ye Anxin sighed inwardly, turned around, wrapped her arms around Mu Beiting’s firm waist, resting her face on his chest, and listening to his steady heartbeat made her even sadder.

Uncle’s heart beat steadily, showing that all her questions were inconsequential to him! And his answers all came from his heart!

What could have caused Uncle to have such a personality?

Mu Beiting gently stroked her damp hair, ”Stop overthinking! There’s no point in dwelling on things that haven’t happened! People live in the present, not in the past or the future!”

Upon hearing that, Ye Anxin quickly asked, ”Has Uncle completely moved on from the past?”

Mu Beiting calmly said, ”I never fell into it, so there’s no coming out of it!”

Ye Anxin raised her head and asked with no small amount of bewilderment, ”...? What do you mean? Has Uncle never been troubled or held a grudge over the past?”

Mu Beiting quietly stared into Ye Anxin’s bright eyes and answered firmly, ”No!”

”...!” Ye Anxin blinked, looking at the familiar face in front of her, increasingly unsure of what lay beneath the mask.

Uncle said he never fretted over or held onto past grievances! If that’s the case, why is he so cold towards the Mu Family? Isn’t it because of grudges? If he didn’t harbor resentment, how did his personality turn out this way?

Could it be that she had been wrong all this time?

Mu Beiting brushed her forelock with some resignation, ”Enough, stop overthinking! Aren’t you hungry? Let’s go eat! Don’t starve the baby!”

She hadn’t felt hungry before, but Mu Beiting’s mention of it made Ye Anxin’s stomach growl.

She hadn’t had lunch today, and she had vomited up everything she’d had in the morning before sleeping! Except for a bowl of hot tea and Calming Tea, her stomach was truly empty!
