Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 536: Chapter 579: Sour Grapes

Regarding Mu Beiting’s behavior, Ye Anxin felt both amused and exasperated! Finally, she could only smile helplessly, pushing the second bowl of rice brought by the waiter over to Mu Beiting, and said with a smile, ”Since we’re here, let’s have a meal together before heading back! We can’t let all this food go to waste!”

Mu Beiting pursed his lips silently, looking at the bowl of white rice in front of him without a word.

Ye Anxin shook her head, smiling warmly as she said, ”Don’t worry! This is clean, Mr. Huo hasn’t eaten it! I already said, he left before the dishes even came, so this rice and these dishes are clean, only I’ve touched them! If you, uncle, don’t mind my germs, you can have some!”

Upon hearing this, Mu Beiting finally reached out, picked up the bowl and chopsticks, and began to eat slowly and methodically.

Ye Anxin didn’t have any more time to fuss over him and just dug into her meal!

After exercising the whole afternoon, she was truly hungry. If she didn’t eat soon, the little one inside her would start protesting!

Ye Anxin ate quickly, finishing two bowls of rice in no time, and almost finishing the dishes she had ordered herself too.

After eating her fill, she contentedly patted her now bulging stomach.

As she patted her stomach, Mu Beiting also put down his bowl and chopsticks.

Ye Anxin took out a napkin, wiped the oil from her mouth, burped contentedly, and said, ”I’m full! Let’s sit for a while and then go home! I didn’t have dinner with Xiao Bai again tonight, and he’s surely going to be mad at us!”

Mu Beiting slightly parted his lips and said blandly, ”Blame you!”

Ye Anxin shrugged, nonchalantly, ”...! It’s indeed my fault! But, resolving the conflict between Yueyue and Mr. Huo is worth getting a bit of blame from Xiao Bai! In my life, Yueyue is my only good friend! You have no idea, back when some boys bullied me, she didn’t hesitate at all, rolling up her sleeves to fight them! She’d always take on several at once! She’d come back black and blue every time, yet she never regretted it! I mean, if she can slash on both sides for me, how could I possibly not help her with such a small favor? I’d be unworthy of having such a good friend otherwise!”

Mu Beiting stared intently at Ye Anxin’s small face for a long moment before suddenly asking, ”If I and Ling Yueyue make you choose, who would you choose?”

”Cough, cough...!” His sudden question startled Ye Anxin, causing her to choke on her own saliva.

Ye Anxin’s strong reaction made Mu Beiting frown tightly, displeased, ”You’d choose Yueyue, wouldn’t you?”

”Cough, cough...!” Ye Anxin coughed violently a couple more times, then took a sip of tea, smoothed her breath, and after adjusting, slowly opened her mouth, ”Uncle, you’re overthinking! You’re you, Yueyue is Yueyue, we are husband and wife, Yueyue and I are just besties, sisters! In the end, the one spending a lifetime with me is you, and the one spending a lifetime with Yueyue is Mr. Huo! There’s really no choice between the two of you! If I chose Yueyue, what about Mr. Huo? Do you two lonely men live your whole lives alone?”

Ye Anxin’s mild redirection did not let her off the hook, instead deepening Mu Beiting’s frown, ”You’ve said so much, yet you’ve still not made a choice!”

Ye Anxin furrowed her brows, troubled, ”Do I have to choose?”

Mu Beiting answered firmly, ”Yes!”

”Hmm...!” Ye Anxin deliberately pretended to think seriously for a while, then confidently replied, ”If I have to choose, of course, I’d choose you, uncle! You’re the one that’s going to spend a lifetime with me, no one can replace that! Uncle has always been the most important person in my heart!”

Ye Anxin’s answer successfully softened Mu Beiting’s tightly furrowed brows, and his tightly pursed lips curved into an attractive smile.

Seeing Mu Beiting’s change, Ye Anxin couldn’t help but stick out her tongue.

Oh...!

Men surely need coaxing!

In truth, choosing between Yueyue and uncle—how could she? Both are very important to her, but they hold entirely different meanings! Making her choose—that’s just making it hard for her!

However, she also understood that uncle is actually easy to coax, easily satisfied! Just stroke him the right way, and uncle will be happy!

If uncle is happy, what harm is a well-meaning lie?

”Let’s go home!” Fearing that Mu Beiting might relentlessly pursue the topic further, Ye Anxin quickly stood up and pulled him from his seat towards the counter.

Just as she reached the counter to settle the bill, she heard the waiter say, ”Miss, Mr. Huo already paid the bill when he left earlier!”

Upon hearing the waiter’s words, Mu Beiting’s brows knitted once more. He took out his wallet from his pocket and without hesitation, placed several red bills on the counter.

Thinking Mu Beiting hadn’t understood, the waiter patiently explained again, ”Sir, Mr. Huo already settled the bill; you don’t need to pay again!”

”I, Mu Beiting, do not deign to let others pay for me, especially not another man!” Saying this, he took Ye Anxin’s hand and left without a backward glance.

Watching Mu Beiting and Ye Anxin’s departing figures, the waiter was left stunned for a while, staring at the red bills on the counter, unsure of what to do next!

......

After pulling Ye Anxin out of the restaurant, Mu Beiting directly got into the business car that had brought him.

Sitting beside Mu Beiting, Ye Anxin teased, ”Uncle, you’re really petty!”

Mu Beiting replied sourly, ”I don’t need another man treating my woman to a meal!”

”Pfft...!” Ye Anxin couldn’t help but laugh out loud, but she didn’t continue on the topic! If she kept going, who knows if it would remind Mu Beiting of their unfinished conversation at the restaurant!

So, changing the subject, Ye Anxin said, ”Uncle, I’m going to the hospital for a prenatal check-up tomorrow morning! The baby is almost three months now, it’s time to get a prenatal check-up record done!”

Without hesitation, Mu Beiting said, ”I’ll go with you!”

Ye Anxin shook her head in refusal, ”No need! You’re so busy usually, I can go by myself! Besides, getting a prenatal check-up record is simple, I’ll be back soon!”

”...!” Mu Beiting pursed his lips, not arguing further with Ye Anxin!

The car went on cruising towards the villa.

With autumn setting in, dusk now fell earlier! By the time the two of them returned to the villa, the night had fully descended! Xiao Bai, having already finished his dinner, was sitting alone on a swing in the courtyard, pouting, and swinging absentmindedly.

Seeing Xiao Bai’s expression, Ye Anxin immediately knew the little one was mad again. She smiled, hastily walking over to sit beside him, gently tapping her toes against the ground, rocking the swing, and softly coaxing, ”Is Xiao Bai mad again? Mom and dad had something come up unexpectedly today, so we didn’t return home to have dinner with you!”
