Journey to Planar World

”To be honest, I believe your story about eighty percent, Charlie-san.” Mahiru stared straight at the youth in front of her. ”After all, with the supernatural power you just demonstrated, if you truly harbored ill intentions or wanted to do something wicked to me, someone weak like me would never be able to resist. You wouldn’t need to beat around the bush making up a scenario this complicated just to deceive me.”

Charlie let out a long breath, radiating a gleam of admiration he didn’t hide.

”Conversing with an intelligent person like you always makes everything easier, Shiina-san.”

Mahiru continued to stare without blinking even a little. ”Even though all of this was initially very hard to believe, the tangible proof is already right before my own eyes. I would only be making a fool of myself if I continued to deny facts that have been clearly exposed. Besides...”

Taking a brief pause, her fingers gently squeezed the skirt she was wearing.

”My biggest reason is intuition.”

”Deep within my heart, I feel that you are not lying. And also, the strange sense of emptiness in my heart that has been constantly troubling me for these past three days... somehow it suddenly feels filled again the moment you appeared before me.”

A faint blush slowly colored both of Mahiru’s previously pale cheeks.

She turned her gaze away slightly out of embarrassment, yet still continued her sentence with honesty.

”Even though my mind has forgotten you... it seems my feelings cannot lie at all. The joy that suddenly overflowed in my chest upon seeing you arrive again today... is the true feeling.”

Facing the honest words coming from the girl’s lips, Charlie felt a deep warmth spreading across his chest.

He was truly moved and touched at the same time, realizing just how great the affection and emotional bond Mahiru held toward him.

Mahiru straightened her sitting posture once more, brushing aside her embarrassment and staring with a look full of determination.

”I don’t want this confusing situation to keep continuing. I want to get back all of my memories that have been forgotten... Tell me, how can I return to remembering you completely? Do you have the solution, Charlie-san?”

Charlie nodded firmly. ”My purpose in coming to see you today is indeed to discuss that matter. I do have one way so that you will never be affected by the God’s Law again, which is by making you my Familiar.”

Seeing Mahiru open her mouth intending to speak, Charlie immediately raised his hand, interrupting with a gentle yet serious gesture.

”Wait a moment, Shiina-san. Before you make a decision, I must first warn you regarding all the advantages and disadvantages you will bear once you become the Familiar of a Transcendent.”

”...”

Mahiru instantly fell silent, putting on a serious expression and listening with rapt attention, waiting for further explanation from Charlie.

”First, a Familiar will become biologically immortal. You will never die just because your lifespan runs out with age.” Charlie explained in a heavy tone. ”Second, every Familiar will obtain a different supernatural power or trait, depending on who the Transcendent figure serving as their master is. Since my Transcendent identity is the Dragon King who holds the Annihilation Divine Authority, the type of power that will awaken within you later will definitely be closely related to that concept.”

Charlie paused his sentence for a moment to ensure Mahiru was listening.

”In addition, as long as the Master remains alive, a Familiar will continuously receive an infinite supply of magic energy directly from their master’s soul vessel. You will also always know where your master’s whereabouts are instinctively, and you can call me at any time if you obtain my approval beforehand.”

”However, there is one absolute thing: a Familiar will completely be unable to disobey or betray their master.”

”And most importantly, your existence as a Familiar later on will also be affected by the God’s Law, causing you to slowly become isolated from ordinary human civilization.”

Charlie stopped speaking. He leaned his back, giving time for Mahiru to digest all the information that had just been delivered.

After seeing Mahiru finish pondering and let out a long sigh, Charlie spoke up once more to test the girl’s resolve.

”After hearing all those consequences, advantages, and disadvantages... have you not changed your mind, Shiina-san? You also need to remember, I am not a native individual of this world. So, once you become my Familiar, you must come with me crossing dimensions to my original world when the time arrives later.”

Hearing that rhetorical question, Mahiru rolled both of her eyes, giving a slightly annoyed look yet one filled with sweet resignation.

”From the entire story you detailed earlier, our previous relationship was clearly no different from a husband and wife who have already lived together for years.” Mahiru said with a face that turned red once more. ”Even though my head doesn’t remember right now, it doesn’t mean all the emotional bonds that have occurred between us disappeared just like that without a trace. I don’t want to continuously live in suffering within a torturous emptiness of the heart like these past three days.”

Mahiru drew a deep breath, then stared at him with full conviction without even a shred of doubt remaining in her eyes.

”So, I agree. I am willing to become your Familiar. Because I am very certain... the version of myself before losing my memories would definitely feel highly hopeless and shattered if you were to leave me behind all alone in this world without taking her away with you.”

”...”

Charlie let out a sigh of relief, the tension that had temporarily enveloped his shoulders now collapsed instantly.

Honestly, he himself was initially not completely sure Mahiru would be willing to become his Familiar just like that, even after knowing the actual truth.

The truth he brought was far too beyond the sound reason of mortal humans.

In this rational world, humans tend to prefer believing a sweet lie rather than having to accept a bitter and absurd truth.

”If that’s the case, then do it now.” Mahiru said without hesitation, breaking the silence with a gaze demanding certainty. ”Turn me into your Familiar right now, Charlie-san.”

Just like Mahiru who could no longer wait to banish the fog of emptiness in her heart, Charlie too felt the same surge of emotion inside his chest. He did not want to waste any more time letting this girl he loved view him as a stranger.

Charlie closed his eyes slowly, took a deep breath, and began to focus all the Divine energy inside the core of his soul.

This energy was a primordial power that inherently resided far above the Mana commonly found in ordinary sword and magic fantasy worlds, or the magic essence that existed in the world of Seirei Gensouki.

*WUSSSHHH!*

A truly massive magical pressure spouted out from Charlie’s body, shaking the atmosphere inside the living room.

The air around them suddenly vibrated violently, becoming extremely dense and heavy, marking the awakening of the Divine Authority of the Transcendent Dragon King figure.

”...!!!”

Mahiru, who was sitting across from him, instantly froze rigid.

Her pupils dilated as she felt the radical change from the youth in front of her.

In her view, Charlie suddenly transformed into a supreme existence that would never be reached by the boundaries of humanity.

His figure felt so holy, noble, majestic, sacred, sublime, Divine, untouched, indescribable, and unimaginable by human intellect—a living representation of the form of a god descending to earth.

*BUZZ!*

Meanwhile, in the midst of the overflow of divine energy glowing brightly enveloping his body, Charlie too was struck with awe feeling the sensation of his own new power.

This was the first time for him to consciously use his Transcendent power after the level-up process to Level 7, and the sensation of omnipotence flowing inside his blood vessels was truly at a completely different level.
