Not Being a Trainer This Time

Happiny has evolved into Chansey!

When Naoki received this news, he was completely stunned.

Looking at the round and plump Chansey in front of him, he uncertainly inquired, ”Happiny?”

Hadn’t he instructed Happiny to carry a Cheri Berry for a day? How did it suddenly evolve into Chansey?

”lucky~”

Chansey let out a happy cry, holding the egg in its arms, softly explaining to Naoki what had just happened.

”lucky, lucky!”

Naoki: ”...So you put yourself in abnormal states on purpose to deepen your understanding of Berries, and then cured yourself with specific Berries?”

”lucky~” Chansey gently nodded.

At this, Naoki didn’t know what to say for a moment.

This method is indeed straightforward and crude...

”Did you recognize them all?” Naoki curiously asked.

Chansey nodded, full of pride: ”lucky!”

Then, it began to describe to Naoki the process of its learning.

It sought out Pawmot and asked it to use Thunder Wave on itself, then used the power of Cheri Berry to cure paralysis.

There was Slugma’s burn, Glaceon’s freezing, Vileplume’s Poison Powder, and Venusaur’s Sleep Powder.

Now it has memorized all Berry knowledge!

”lucky?” Chansey looked at Naoki with expectation.

Its expression seemed to ask Naoki if it was impressive.

Naoki smiled and nodded, ”Very impressive, but to move on to the next stage of learning, you still need to pass my test.”

Chansey immediately expressed that it was no problem!

Then Naoki returned to the room and once again took out the Berries to test Chansey.

Unexpectedly, Chansey answered all correctly this time.

Not only could it recognize the names of the Berries and tell their effects, but it could also describe the sensations and visible changes when Pokemon fall into abnormal states.

For example, if a Pokemon becomes paralyzed, its body becomes stiff, and occasional currents run across its surface.

Hearing this, Naoki nodded in satisfaction.

”But there’s still one more thing to note: there are two types of paralysis, one is the electric paralysis you know of, and the other is the powder paralysis used by Grass Type Pokemon.”

”If hit by Stun Spore, there won’t be any currents on the Pokemon’s body, just difficulty moving; you need to learn to differentiate between the two.”

”lucky!” Chansey listened intently and decided to later find Butterfree to give it a try.

”Congratulations, Chansey, you’ve successfully passed the test and have now become an intern doctor,” said Naoki.

With that, he stood up, went to the bedroom, and brought out a nurse’s cap and a medical satchel with a cross symbol.

”lucky...” Chansey immediately recognized them as the same style as Audino’s nurse hat and bag, and its heart was filled with excitement. Now, like Audino, it’s going to become a Pokemon Doctor who helps others!

”This is the cap and medical bag I specially prepared for you. You can wear it and fill it with various medicine and Berries, so if you encounter injured or needy Pokemon, you can help them,” Naoki said.

”lucky!”

Chansey reached for the medical bag, while Naoki helped it put on the cap.

”Alright, starting today, you can commence your next phase of learning,” Naoki said.

That is to head to the Pokemon Center and, alongside Miss Joy and Audino, begin attending to visiting Trainers and learn methods for caring for Pokemon!

”lucky!” Chansey’s eyes filled with determination.

That afternoon, Chansey went to the Pokemon Center and, under the guidance of Miss Joy and Audino, began further training.

Meanwhile, at the Paldea League Headquarters.

An incredibly intense battle was taking place there.

Geeta was smiling as she looked at the challenger across from her.

She was a woman in a cloak wearing a long blue dress, with long blue hair, exuding an air of grace and poise in her mannerisms.

”Oh, my, the match has reached a thrilling stage!” Geeta smiled faintly. ”Your strength is truly remarkable, actually forcing me to this point! But I’m delighted; it’s wonderful that the Paldea Region can welcome talents like you. Come on! Defeat me, and you can advance to Champion level!”

At this point, both sides were down to their last Pokemon.

Looking at the smiling and equally formidable woman across from her, Clair couldn’t help but smile as well.

”It’s rare to encounter a Trainer like you!” Clair’s gaze suddenly sharpened. ”But I’m Clair! The world’s strongest Dragon Envoy! No matter the opponent, I will give it my all! Go, Dragonite!”

With that, Clair forcefully threw the Poke Ball in her hand.

Accompanied by a flash of white light, a well-trained and powerful Dragonite appeared on the battlefield.

”Dragonite... This Pokemon reminds me of an old acquaintance!”

Geeta’s mind conjured up the image of Naoki, and she couldn’t help but tease:

”That person caught a bunch of Dragonites but rarely lets them battle; instead, he sends them out to deliver goods for him.”

Clair was slightly taken aback.

But Geeta did not continue the topic: ”So, for the final match, I will also give it my all. Go, Glimmora!”
