Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 470: Chapter 279: Magical Fruit Wine

World Tree, Zapdos...

Arven was getting more and more confused by the side. What is the World Tree? And what is Zapdos? Are they Pokemon?

No, that’s not right!

Arven opened his mouth, his face showing an expression of surprise.

As expected, Mr. Naoki can understand Pokemon’s cries!

He couldn’t hold back and finally asked, ”Mr. Naoki, um...can you talk to Pokemon?”

Naoki slapped his forehead, then remembered that Arven was still there with him.

He pulled out a piece of Translation Nuts Cake and handed it to Arven while explaining:

”This is a dish made using Secret Power. After eating it, you can understand Pokemon speaking, but the effect only lasts for a while.”

Hearing this, Arven was a bit shocked. He reached out to take it, looking incredulously at the snack he had never seen before.

Naoki, with a serious expression, bluffed, ”That’s the power of food. A good chef can develop the hidden effects of ingredients. I’ve heard some ingredients growing somewhere in this world can even restore Pokemon suffering from incurable diseases to health!”

Arven’s mouth gaped in shock, so amazing!

Naoki smiled and said, ”Want to try? Maybe after eating it, you can understand what Mabosstiff is saying!”

Arven looked at Mabosstiff beside him, and upon hearing Naoki’s words, a gleam of light shone in Mabosstiff’s slightly cloudy eyes.

”Woof!”

Arven picked up the cake in his hand and put it in his mouth.

Immediately, a sweet and irresistible fragrance filled his mouth.

Arven’s eyes lit up, so delicious!

Only after he’d swallowed the whole piece did Mabosstiff make another sound and ask:

”Woof?” (Arven?)

Hearing this familiar yet unfamiliar voice, Arven immediately widened his eyes in shock, ”Mabosstiff? Is it you talking?”

Mabosstiff nodded happily, ”Woof!” (It’s me, Arven!)

”You can really understand Pokemon talking...” Arven stood there dumbfounded, unable to describe his feelings at that moment.

Naoki stood by with a gentle smile, watching this scene, and glanced at Mabosstiff, speaking:

”Mabosstiff, do you have anything you’d like to say to Arven? You can take this opportunity to tell him!”

Arven was slightly stunned, then came to his senses and looked down at Mabosstiff in front of him.

And Mabosstiff looked at him with an affectionate gaze.

This child... it watched him grow up.

When it was still a Fidough, Arven was born.

At that time, Professor Sada and Professor Turo brought it to Arven and told it that Arven would live with it from then on.

So, from that day on, Fidough stayed by Arven’s side, watching him grow from a lively and cheerful little boy to a quiet, very lonely young boy.

And it evolved from Fidough to Mabosstiff.

Thinking of this, Mabosstiff couldn’t help feeling very sad.

Arven is a very unfortunate child. His father and mother are always busy with work, which led to Arven living alone from a young age.

Sometimes, even during the New Year, he would be alone.

Looking at Arven, Mabosstiff slowly spoke, ”Woof!” (I will always be with you, Arven!)

”Mabosstiff...” Arven’s eyes swelled with emotion, and then he sincerely said, ”Thank you!”

Naoki and Koraidon and the other Pokemon stood quietly by, watching this scene.

”Arven and Mabosstiff’s bond is indeed strong...no wonder Arven would travel the whole Paldea Region to cure Mabosstiff.” Naoki thought to himself.

At this moment, Arven stood up, wiped his eyes, and said to Naoki, ”Thank you too, Mr. Naoki.”

”Alright!” Naoki took a deep breath, then smiled, ”Since we’re at the ranch, let’s forget all the unhappy things for now and enjoy the winter countryside life! It’s hard to experience in a big city!”

”Hmm!”

Arven nodded, then went off into the snow to play with Mabosstiff.

While Naoki began introducing the new companions at the ranch to the returning Mew and Teddiursa.

After going out for a while, Teddiursa became a completely different bear from before.

Perhaps because of the experiences it encountered and the many Pokemon it met, Teddiursa now was lively and cheerful and could quickly make friends with any Pokemon.

Is this perhaps a kind of talent?

After dinner, the outside sky darkened, and in this cold snowy night, Naoki gathered everyone by the fireplace to warm up by the fire.

The orange light of the fire illuminated the faces of a group of Pokemon, and the room was warm and cozy.

Koraidon lay on the carpet, resting on its arm, eyes peacefully closed.

Cyclizar stretched comfortably, happily wagging its tail.

Pawmot and Alcremie ran circles around Naoki, playfully chasing each other.

Mew and Teddiursa kept eating the honey pudding and honey tea that Naoki prepared for them.

Arven was also there, tidying up Mabosstiff’s fur.

Naoki looked at Teddiursa eating honey pudding and smiled, saying to it, ”You’ve changed a lot now!”

Teddiursa looked up, a bit confused, ”Huh?” (What do you mean?)

Naoki reflected nostalgically about the first time they met, ”At that time, you pretended to be a lost, pitiful little bear who appeared at the ranch, wanting to steal honey when I wasn’t looking.”
