Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 466: Chapter 277: Path to Fame, Big Root

”I’m really looking forward to it,” Calyrex said with a hint of a smile.

He looked forward to the spring that was just around the corner, as well as spending it with Naoki.

”Alright, I still have to find Dragonite and Pawmot to talk to them about something.”

Calyrex nodded slightly, watching Naoki leave.

Once out of the Glass Greenhouse, Naoki intended to go directly to Pawmot and Dragonite to talk about the Thunder Trial and Storm Trial.

But upon seeing a group of Pokemon joyfully playing in the Ice Maze, Naoki stopped in his tracks, deciding to wait until they were tired from playing.

As for now...

Naoki planned to return to the house to warm up some Berry Milk for the Pokemon so they could drink it when they came back tired and cold.

Naoki turned around and walked towards the house.

He was about to open the door when he suddenly heard a familiar Growl from behind.

”Ema!”

Naoki froze for a moment, then turned around incredulously, seeing the familiar little Teddiursa behind him, thinking he might be hallucinating.

”Teddiursa?” Naoki asked uncertainly.

”Ema Ema!”

Teddiursa nodded repeatedly, then dropped the bundle of green stuff it was holding onto the ground and ran towards Naoki.

As it got closer, Teddiursa leapt up forcefully, its furry little body jumping into Naoki’s arms.

Naoki instinctively reached out to catch it.

Teddiursa lifted its head, its dark, bright eyes sparkling with light: ”Ema~”

”Miu~”

At that moment, another Pokemon landed from the sky.

Naoki looked at it and recognized it at a glance as the Mew named ”Hero.”

Surprised at Teddiursa’s unexpected return, Naoki felt delighted inside: ”Why did you guys come back all of a sudden?”

”Ema!”

Naoki didn’t understand but was still very happy, rarely seeing Teddiursa, he quickly carried it into the living room: ”Let’s talk inside, Hero, come along! I’ll bring some tasty treats for you.”

”Miu!” Hearing this, Mew exclaimed happily and followed Naoki into the living room.

Naoki put Teddiursa on the sofa and went to the fridge to fetch some sweets and drinks.

When he returned to the living room with food, Teddiursa was curiously observing its surroundings while sitting on the sofa.

”Ema...”

Naoki understood Teddiursa’s intention; it seemed to be saying that things were different here now.

He chuckled and explained, ”The old house was too small, after you set out on your journey, I asked the town’s craftsmen to build a new one.”

”Ema!” Teddiursa realized.

Naoki placed the platter full of Poffins and small cakes on the table, adding a pot of honey that Teddiursa loved most.

Seeing the honey, Teddiursa’s eyes lit up immediately.

It picked up the honey and started using its little bear paws to dip the golden honey inside, licking it.

Mew used its tiny hands to pick up a Poffin and ate happily.

”Miu!”

Taking advantage of this moment, Naoki grabbed a few Translation Nuts Cakes to eat, then sat on the sofa and chatted with the two Pokemon.

”Why did you guys come back all of a sudden? I was really surprised!” Naoki asked.

Teddiursa: ”Ema, Ema!” (We wanted to see Naoki, so we came back!)

Wanting to see him? Hearing this response, Naoki was initially taken aback, but then felt joy from the bottom of his heart.

It seemed Teddiursa still cared about him a lot.

After that, Naoki said nothing, patiently watching Teddiursa and Mew eat.

After they finished eating, Teddiursa started inspecting its surroundings.

Catching sight of the photo hanging on the right wall, it exclaimed: ”Ema!” (That’s the one Pelipper sent back!)

Naoki glanced at it and nodded, ”Yes! The Pokemon you asked were very reliable, always delivering things to the ranch on time.”

Teddiursa happily said: ”Ema~” (Everyone’s such good Pokemon~)

Naoki chuckled slightly, then asked, ”Did you encounter anything interesting on your travels?”

Mew was beside constantly eating Poffins, its little cheeks puffed.

Having filled up, Teddiursa replied: ”Ema!” (Lots!)

It excitedly started sharing stories from its journey with Naoki.

Including Zapdos, including Lugia, including Mewtwo, including Ninetales, and including the lone big Dragonite.

Teddiursa recounted that they met Zapdos at an abandoned human power plant.

The poor Zapdos was injured; they gave it some healing Berries and became friends with it.

Upon leaving, it discovered Zapdos feathers on the ground that glowed, so it picked them up and sent them back to the ranch.

Naoki: ”...” So the Zapdos feather he made into a Lightning Steamed Bun wasn’t forcibly plucked using Teddiursa’s ”Super Luck” and ”Run Away” skills?

”Zapdos didn’t attack you?” Naoki couldn’t help but ask.

”Ema!” (Of course not!) Teddiursa shook its head, looking puzzled.

Naoki: ”I’ve heard Zapdos is usually very temperamental.”

Teddiursa carefully recalled and slowly said: ”Ema...” (This Zapdos is a good Zapdos, it’s a very good Pokemon, but later Hero and I met another really bad-tempered Zapdos...)

A second Zapdos?

Naoki immediately thought of the movie ”The Birth of Lugia.”

If he remembered correctly, this world also experienced that storyline, and the Storm Steamed Bun Dragonite ate was obtained from this encounter.

Talking about this memory, Mew and Teddiursa seemed a bit embarrassed.

”Ema...” (That Zapdos was guarding a shiny Treasure Pearl, and Hero and I thought nobody wanted it, so we planned to pick it up and send it back to the ranch. But that bad-tempered Zapdos chased us really far...)

It ended up not catching up...

Teddiursa recalled that Zapdos nearly got infuriated.

But they didn’t know that Treasure Pearl was so important!

Thinking of this, Mew and Teddiursa exchanged an embarrassed glance.

Naoki: ”...”

Just as he was about to say something else, Mew, having finished its meal, scanned the surroundings, seemingly searching for something.

Not finding what it was looking for, Mew turned its gaze to Naoki and asked: ”Miu?” (Where’s Mewtwo?)

”Mewtwo?” Naoki realized immediately that Mew seemed to want news about Mewtwo, he answered: ”Mewtwo came once, after resting one night with a group of Pokemon at the ranch, it left again, saying it wanted to find a place they could call home.”

”Miu...” (What a pity...)

Mew looked regretful; it wanted to see Mewtwo again!

”Don’t worry,” Naoki consoled, ”Mewtwo is still in this world, as long as you keep traveling, one day you’ll reunite.”

Upon hearing this, Mew and Teddiursa blinked, then immediately filled with fighting spirit.

”Miu!” (That’s right!)

”Ema!” (Yes!)

Seeing they wanted to know what happened to the Pokemon who visited the ranch, Naoki then talked about the giant Dragonite settling on Dragonite Island and Ninetales visiting the ranch.

Upon hearing all ended well, Mew and Teddiursa were very pleased.

To Teddiursa, the journey still felt like a dream until now.

It looked at Naoki and said: ”Ema...” (Hero and I formed the Heroic Expedition Team and helped so many Pokemon! I love that feeling!)

Naoki smiled warmly, listening to the stories from their journey, he couldn’t help but sigh: ”That’s wonderful!”

The uniqueness of Pokemon friendship and bonds devoid of humans, just like a fairy tale.

Unexpectedly, the door opened, and Indeedee came in carrying a bundle of leeks.

It wondered, ”Ai ee?” (Whose stuff is this? Left at the door?)

Witnessing the scene, Teddiursa immediately remembered it hadn’t given its gift to Naoki.

Quickly standing up, it took the bundle of leeks from Indeedee and handed it to Naoki.

”Ema!” (To you, Naoki!)

Naoki was somewhat surprised; glancing down, information about these green leeks flashed through his mind.

[Leeks: A special stem plant, extremely rare, delicious, can be used for cooking, long used by Farfetch’d as a weapon, the large root at the bottom can also be carried as an item by some Pokemon.]
