Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

While Zhao Rong was dumbfounded, the three women walked up to him. ”Brother Zhao Rong, what species is this snowman lying on the ground?” one of them asked.

Zhao Rong scratched the back of his head and explained, ”Actually, the snowman is neither human nor a demon...”

Lili stepped forward and cut in, ”Brother Zhao Rong, are you saying it’s a hermaphrodite?”

The assistant, trying to find an opportunity to speak, added, ”Humans are born from human mothers, and demons are born from demon mothers. But as for a hermaphrodite, who the hell knows what kind of mother gives birth to one...”

Zhao Rong shot him a glare, cutting him off. ”Assistant, can you stop showing off? We’re discussing something serious, why are you butting in?”

”Brother Zhao Rong, please tell us quickly,” Yu Lan urged. ”After the DNA test, what species is this snowman, exactly?”

Zhao Rong told the three women, ”The snowman is a descendant of complex interbreeding between Neanderthals, polar bears, seals, walruses, sea lions, and other species...”

When the three beauties heard that the snowman was the offspring of interbreeding between Neanderthals, polar bears, and various sea mammals, they were utterly flabbergasted.

Lili sighed. ”No wonder everyone says the snowman is an unsolved mystery. It turns out this species is the result of so much cross-breeding. It must be almost impossible to trace its original ancestor...”

Yu Lan gave Zhao Rong a thumbs-up. ”Brother Zhao Rong, you’re incredible! You’ve actually solved one of the world’s top ten unsolved mysteries!”

Xuelian went so far as to pull out a copy of *Scientific People* magazine. She showed him the editor-in-chief’s email address and said, ”Brother Zhao Rong, if you publish your research findings in this magazine, you’ll definitely win a Nobel Prize for Discovery!”

Even the assistant was full of admiration. ”Brother Zhao Rong, ever since I started following you, I’ve had one thrilling experience after another. Not only do we make a fortune, but we also get to solve one of the world’s greatest mysteries...”

Just as everyone was marveling at Zhao Rong’s capture of the snowman, hundreds of Eskimos suddenly appeared in the distance. They carried weapons made of whale bone, wore clothes made of polar bear fur, and boots made of sealskin.

When Zhao Rong’s group of five saw the large party of Eskimos, they warmly went to greet them with smiles. ”Hello there! We’re actually distant relatives, you know. 10,000 years ago, your ancestors traveled from the lands of Northeast China to Siberia. From there, you crossed the Bering Strait and arrived in the Arctic Circle...”

The assistant stepped forward to try and get friendly with them. ”I know your lives here are especially difficult. In the Arctic Circle, you have months of complete darkness and months of constant daylight. It’s a miracle that you’ve been able to survive here.”

Curious, Lili stepped closer to observe them, saying in amazement, ”These people crossed Asia and entered the Arctic Circle 10,000 years ago, yet after ten thousand years of evolution, they’ve hardly changed. Look, they look just like us East Asians, with the same skin tone, small eyes, and high cheekbones. Most of them have single eyelids, too.”

Yu Lan studied the group of Eskimos carefully and suddenly realized how primitive they were. ”Brother Zhao Rong,” she speculated, ”I’ve seen on TV that modern Eskimos live quite well. They don’t use dog sleds anymore; they ride snowmobiles and hunt with rifles. But these people seem to be from the Neolithic Age. Their weapons are all made from whale bone, with no trace of modern craftsmanship. They don’t have any iron tools, let alone rifles.”

Xuelian pulled out her phone and checked the calendar. ”No way... why does my phone say it’s the 18th century?”

Hearing Xuelian claim it was the 18th century, Zhao Rong couldn’t believe it. He took out his time locator, placed it on the ground, and used it to get a fix on their temporal location. To his utter shock, the device confirmed it: they had indeed traveled through time to the 18th century.

Zhao Rong froze. He looked at the hundred or so hostile-looking Eskimos across from them and said nervously, ”Before the 18th century, the Eskimos had never encountered modern people. They lived in a Neolithic state... and they practiced cannibalism.”

When the three women heard that the people before them were cannibals, they were terrified. ”You can’t be serious, Brother Zhao Rong! Are you saying this group might capture and eat us?”

”Brother, what do we do?” Lili asked nervously.

Yu Lan tried to come up with a plan. ”Brother Zhao Rong, we should just run for it. If we stay here, we’re dead.”

”Brother Zhao Rong, if only we had an icebreaker right now,” Xuelian said. ”We could sail right through the Arctic Circle without any trouble.”

Just as they were debating their options, the hundred or so Eskimos charged forward, brandishing their weapons and surrounding the group. They began speaking loudly in their own language, but Zhao Rong and the others couldn’t understand a word.

While they were wondering what was being said, Zhao Rong quickly fumbled in his pocket and pulled out a portable translator. With the device’s help, he immediately understood what the Eskimos were saying.

It turned out they thought the five of them were American Indians. There was a deep-seated, irreconcilable hatred between the local Eskimos and the Indian tribes.

Once he understood the situation, Zhao Rong used the translator to speak to them in their language. ”Respected Eskimos, you’re mistaken. We are not Indians. We are the Huaxia people.”

Hearing them claim to be ”Huaxia people,” the Eskimos were confused. ”Huaxia people? Where are they from?”
