Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Just then, Zhao Rong spun around, lunged forward, and helped his assistant subdue the criminal.

When the three women saw that the bewitching figure in the ancient costume was actually a man, they were completely dumbfounded.

Lili wiped the cold sweat from her forehead and stared at the ugly man before them. ”Holy moly, I can’t believe it!” she said, amazed. ”This man’s disguise was just too enchanting and alluring. The three of us were completely fooled...”

Yu Lan took out a towel to wipe her eyes. ”There’s an old saying, ’seeing is believing.’ But now I realize that even your own eyes can deceive you. For instance, I was sure this person in the ancient costume was a woman. I never expected he was actually an ugly man in disguise...”

Xuelian was even more terrified. ”Assistant, thank goodness you have Eyes of Golden Flame! You’re the one who saw that this person was a man. Otherwise, we all would have been deceived.”

After securing the ugly man, the assistant laughed and said to the three women, ”To be honest, Zhao Rong knew from the very beginning that the person in the costume, the one called Xiaoqian, was a man. He just didn’t tell you three. He told me secretly instead.”

Hearing this, Lili stepped forward and asked, ”So that’s what was going on! No wonder you insisted on entering the bridal chamber with ’her.’ You were just acting along with Zhao Rong!”

While cuffing the man, Zhao Rong explained, ”Luckily, the assistant played his part perfectly. The act was so convincing that the man completely fell for it. We seized that opportunity to grab him while his guard was down, which saved us the time and trouble of a real fight.”

Yu Lan stepped forward and asked Zhao Rong curiously, ”But Zhao Rong, even the three of us couldn’t tell that he was a man. How did you spot it? You’re usually so unobservant!”

As he spoke, Zhao Rong took out the gender detector he had bought from the Paradise Shopping Cart in his Magic Ring. ”It was quite simple, actually. When I first saw this person in Badahutong, I found it strange. Why would such a beauty be in a place like this? It made me wonder if ’she’ was really a woman at all. So, I took out the gender detector from my Magic Ring and scanned him. I was shocked by the result. The device confirmed that this beautiful ’woman’ was, in fact, a man.”

When Yu Lan heard that Zhao Rong had used a high-tech gadget to see through the disguise, another question suddenly popped into her head. ”But Zhao Rong, we splashed makeup remover right on his face. If it were ordinary makeup, it would have come right off and exposed him. Yet, nothing changed. He still looked just as beautiful, and I couldn’t tell he was a man.”

The assistant held up the mask the man had been wearing and explained, ”What you didn’t realize, Yu Lan, is that he wasn’t wearing makeup. It was an exquisite Human Skin Mask. It’s made from high-tech nanomaterials, so the makeup remover had no effect on his appearance.”

Upon hearing this, Yu Lan finally understood.

Xuelian stepped forward and asked, ”Zhao Rong, now that we’ve caught the villain for the sixth challenge, what should we do with him?”

Before Xuelian could finish, the assistant drew a dagger from his waist, raised it high, and said with a laugh, ”I hate men who dress up as women more than anything. For people I despise this much, there’s only one solution: kill him.”

When the handcuffed man heard the assistant threaten his life, he immediately knelt and begged for mercy. ”Sirs, please, have mercy! I’m begging you, spare my life!”

Zhao Rong was curious about the man’s past. ”What did you do for work before this?” he asked. ”Why did you apply to work in Badahutong and risk your life for villains like Hong Ju and Zhou Xiaoer?”

The man explained, ”I used to be a cross-dressing performer in a nightclub, but the pay was terrible, so I disguised myself as a woman and applied for a job here. At first, I didn’t think I’d get hired. I don’t know any Martial Arts, I have no cultivation, and I couldn’t even tie up a chicken. But to my surprise, the bosses, Hong Ju and Zhou Xiaoer, actually hired me. They told me to guard the sixth challenge of Badahutong and pose as one of the so-called ’eight great experts’.”

Hearing that the man was just a nightclub performer, Zhao Rong tied him to a nearby telephone pole. ”Since you haven’t committed any serious crimes, I’ll spare your life for now,” he said. ”Wait here. After we capture your bosses, Zhou Xiaoer and Hong Ju, we’ll come back and hand you over to the police.”

With that, Zhao Rong and his group started toward the seventh challenge.

Looking back at the man tied to the pole, Lili said to Zhao Rong, ”He doesn’t seem to have hurt us. Why don’t we just let him go?”

Yu Lan agreed. ”Zhao Rong, I know all of the ’eight great experts’ in Badahutong are fakes and phonies, but this performer actually seems pretty harmless. We should probably just let him go.”

Hearing their soft-hearted pleas, Zhao Rong immediately explained just how dangerous the man really was.

He revealed that just a moment ago, when the man thought he had successfully fooled everyone, he had been secretly reaching into his pocket for a nail gun. It was a modified weapon, extremely powerful. His plan was to wait until the group had walked five steps away with their backs turned. Then, he would shoot the ”mesmerized” assistant first before killing Zhao Rong and the three women. However, he never got the chance. Before he could even pull the gun out, the assistant had him in a reverse Kimura lock and subdued him.
