Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1534: Chapter 36: Blitz (19)_2

This results in both sides looking down on each other, even though they are forced to cooperate at the moment.

In Peterlov’s view, Beize Xian and his 25th Army Group are simply a bunch of cowards!

A total of eight armored divisions, and they lost one division in a single encounter. Even if the excuse of being unprepared can be used to explain it, afterwards, in a battlefield tens of kilometers wide, holding absolute geographical and military advantage, they actually allowed the Fei Alliance people to drive straight in. What exactly were they doing?!

If it weren’t for him discovering early that the 33rd Army he was familiar with had already been replaced by other troops on the Fei Alliance’s defensive line in the Charloks Main Battle Zone, withdrawing some troops for rest ahead of time, saving some distance and time.

If it weren’t for him immediately realizing the key position of 49 Peak in the entire battle situation upon receiving the news, and ordering the combat units to take the lead, to urgently march regardless of any cost to seize 49 Peak...

Hmm, perhaps...

If it wasn’t for confirming that the failure of the campaign wasn’t beneficial for the Jiepeng people either, Peterlov might have even thought that Beize Xian was deliberately letting the Fei Alliance people through just to avoid troop losses and watch his own joke!

He secretly decided that after this battle, he would definitely ask Beize Xian about it in front of everyone.

Don’t think that just because Mikami Yuto is the Commander of the Southeast Star Domain, Suss has no say.

Whoever contributes more, stands taller! If it wasn’t for his 21st Army Group’s quick reaction, even Mikami Yuto might have been impeached by their Emperor!

No one can bear the responsibility for defeat!

After this battle, maybe his position should move up a bit. Peterlov took a hard drag of his cigarette, watching the fiery tip suddenly leap back a good distance. The warm smoke filling his lungs made him incredibly satisfied.

Reflecting carefully on his battle plan, he confirmed once again that there were no omissions.

Peak, located at the intersection of Tulun River and Xiushui River. The terrain is perilous, easy to defend and hard to attack. Its main peak is 1,049 meters high, with the two flank peaks being 627 meters and 808 meters respectively.

The entire mountain range spreads in a fan shape. Six mountain heads rise successively. By dividing the troops and stationing them, establishing a cross-position, they can support each other, forming a solid fan-shaped defense system. Even if the Fei Alliance people use 20 divisions to fight for a week without sleep, they may not be able to take it!

This strategic location is now situated between the 21st Army Group and the enemy.

The 21st Army Group advances from northeast to southwest, bypassing Maple Slope five kilometers from 49 Peak, can reach No.1 Hill at the foot of 49 Peak, then occupy No.2 and No.3 Mountain Heads, extending up to No.6 Mountain Head, and down to No.4 and No.5 Mountain Heads, blocking the enemy’s passage forward.

The entire route forms a ”V” shape. Though it is necessary to detour southward slightly, the road is relatively flat and wide, suitable for high-speed movement of large mecha units.

The Fei Alliance Joint Army, coming from the Jiepeng defense zone, travels northward along the Tulun River East Bank. There are two routes to 49 Peak. One goes directly through the canyon on the west side to 49 Peak, the other circumnavigates Maple Slope, then turns towards 49 Peak.

The route circling Maple Slope is relatively long, and large units find it hard to concentrate passage, basically not feasible. Although the other route is a relatively straightforward path to 49 Peak, its terrain is similarly steep and rugged, poor in passage capability, so large units move slowly.

Moreover, the Fei Alliance Army must pass through the First-tier Sky Canyon to reach No.5 Mountain Head southwest of 49 Peak. Because No.5 Mountain Head’s terrain is relatively low within the entire high-ground group of 49 Peak, they must swiftly occupy the second tier, No.3 High Ground, to barely establish a foothold.

In light of this, Peterlov can almost be certain that he is bound to win this battle!

”Commander Sir!” A staff officer climbed the ladder, squeezing onto the observation platform from the cockpit, standing behind Peterlov reporting: ”The vanguard 2122 division sent news, the first and second vanguard regiments have reached five kilometers northeast of Maple Slope, reconnaissance soldiers have advanced and approached Maple Slope without finding a trace of the enemy.”

The last trace of worry in his heart vanished.

Peterlov stood with his hands behind his back, only feeling the mountain wind refreshing, the starry sky bright.

Tonight is perfect weather!

”Follow up! Quick!”

The communication channel carried the urging voice of Commander O’Neill. Over a thousand mechas of the bandit army’s Second Armored Division’s first regiment sped through the jungle.

The rays from the setting sun spilled through the treetops, like thousands of beams sent down by heaven, fracturing into a ground of gold. The silhouettes of running mechas flickered in the jungle, and the dry leaves on the ground flew and spiraled in the wind whipped up by the racing mechas, dim dust floating in the sunlight, leaves rustling like a rainstorm.

The sky seemed to be racing the speeding mechas.

As the first mecha burst through the boundless dense forest, galloping down the hill on slippery mud, night also suddenly descended.

One by one, lights appeared on the hill. Little by little, they grew in number, like bright stars in the distant sky.

One, two, three, ten, fifty, one hundred... As the first light point plunged downward, more and more light points converged into a magnificent river of light, cascading down.

The clouds flying in the sky seemed embarrassed to compete for beauty with this surging river of light, curling up and hiding in the night, leaving only the flowing river of light with the mountain slope full of maple trees fixed in the last glow at the Earth’s end, resembling the final shape pinned by a pangolin in the twilight.
