Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1516: Chapter 9 Volume 31: Blitz (14)

The SkyNet screen flickered, reflected in the eyes of the staff, alternately bright and dim.

Everyone watched intently at the attack arrows on the screen, weaving through the mountains, like piranhas at different speeds, following different routes, converging on the same target, and then....

In an instant, everything turned to dust and disappeared.

A young Feiyang staff officer made a cross on his chest in reverence.

Thanking God, he seemed to return to the classroom at the military academy years ago, listening to a respected mentor explaining the highest realm of battlefield command.

”What is the pinnacle of command, this is an interesting question......”

The mentor’s voice echoed in the spacious, bright classroom. The seats were filled, and the young cadets sat upright in their crisp uniforms.

”Modern army, thanks to the advent of Mecha, has gained ultra-high mobility. When the ancient army took weeks or even months to advance a thousand kilometers and called it a blitzkrieg, they could not have imagined that in front of modern armored groups, it was merely a journey of a few hours.”

This was just before a regular class, the mentor casually leaned beside the podium, speaking eloquently. A few assistants nearby were busily preparing props. They drove a small engineering Mecha, bringing in a large fish tank.

”In ancient warfare, combat units were confined to cities, highways, and relatively flat areas. They needed vast supplies to support their battles and a relatively complete transportation system to support their advance. However, for modern Mecha, which can cross thousands of kilometers with a single tank of energy and have off-road capabilities comparable to reptiles, this is not an issue.”

”Therefore, we can imagine that the operational range of modern warfare is much larger than in ancient times. The pace of war is also several times faster. Without an extremely perfect command system, without a massive Staff Department, without SkyNet, we would lose direction in this stormy engagement.”

”Remember, in the future, if you have the chance to step onto the battlefield, every battle you experience will be one in which you have no time to think, no time to hesitate, and no time to regret.”

”Analyze intelligence at the fastest speed, make the most accurate judgment and develop a battle plan in the shortest time, always staying one step ahead of the enemy, forcing the enemy to engage in a battle or hundreds of battles controlled by you in the specified time and place. This is the highest realm of command.”

The mentor finally walked to a giant fish tank and smiled as he asked, ”Have you ever seen a piranha?”

The entire classroom was silent.

All the cadets quietly watched as the mentor picked up a live experimental rabbit and tossed it into the tank.

When the piranhas, which had been swimming scattered in the tank, suddenly gathered at a speed too fast to see and tore apart the prey, this mentor, who was definitely not an animal rights activist, gently clapped his hands.

The genteel figure standing beside the tank, which turned a deep red and started boiling, made an unforgettable impression.

”If one day, you can turn your troops into piranhas and precisely control them to hunt prey, then you will be invincible.”

”Of course, that is impossible. Unless you grow ten heads. Or, unless you are Lord Hastings, the Military God.” He opened a book, ”Now, let’s start the lecture.”

With the mentor’s words lingering in his ears, the staff officer stared blankly at the screen showing the constantly updating real-time reports and suddenly wanted to call him and tell him everything he was witnessing.

From the moment the attack was launched, the advancing bandit army, under General Tian’s command, continuously split and merged.

They sometimes moved forward on their own, indifferent to each other, and other times suddenly gathered together to launch an attack on the same Jiepeng position.

Their chaotic marching routes always intersected at just the right time, in the right place. Each time you discover, when the main force encounters a certain Jiepeng unit or reaches a certain hill, there have already been troops maneuvering to the enemy’s flank or even behind them.

Their routes and timing were controlled with such precision. It was like countless flying daggers shooting from different angles, slicing the prey.

Is this the pinnacle of command?!

Eagle Mountain.

A thick mass of Bandit Army Mecha charged onto the hilltop position.

A huge bandit flag was raised, fluttering in the wind. The clarion call of the charge continued the Leray Army’s short, intense rhythm.

The Jiepeng defenders on the hill, like snow under the scorching sun, though trying their hardest to regroup and persist, gradually melted away.

One attack, twenty minutes, and Eagle Mountain was conquered.

The eagle stood silently, gazing down upon the land. On its broad back, cannon fire flickered, flames soaring into the sky. Countless Green Mecha surged.

The makeshift blocking position established by the Jiepeng people on the mountain was in ruins. Everywhere lay twisted weapons, corpses, and Mecha wreckage. In the rear, thousands of energy cannon lights soared into the sky, tracing countless magnificent arcs, like a meteor shower, crashing onto the other side of the mountain.

Past Eagle Mountain, the roaring Tulun River would take a sharp turn here, becoming a north-south trajectory. Just ten kilometers up the east bank against the current would pierce through the 4th War Zone and enter the 5th Combat Zone.

If with the same overwhelming momentum, they could break through the Feisha Valley, Wolf Mountain, and Gyroscope Valley ahead before the Western Alliance Army encircled and blocked them, they could seize 49 Mountain and trap the Jiepeng 25 Army Group and Suss 21 Army Group tightly behind!
