Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1504: Chapter 26: Blitz (9)_3

One by one, the code names of illustrious Special Forces units were erased, and elite Su Jie Special Mech Knights were hunted down by the ghost-like Fei Alliance Special Forces.

In a shattered folder, a surviving Suss Special Mecha Soldier described this thrilling battle in this way.

”We proceeded along the valley, with the unit in a spindle-shaped alert formation, the front, back, and flanks were on high alert at a great distance. Due to the intense electronic interference, the platoon leader deployed additional roving sentries between the outer alert lines to enhance reconnaissance vigilance and maintain smooth directional communications.

We knew that a Special Company from the 113th Division had just been ambushed by the Fei Alliance Special Forces, and the entire unit was annihilated. Hence, throughout the journey, we were extremely, extremely cautious. However, as we reached a small waterfall upstream along the valley, the enemy suddenly appeared.....”

Recalling the scene at the time, the Special Soldier lying on the hospital bed, stared blankly, his face pale.

”The expanded marching alert lines and roving sentries showed no warning signs. The enemy’s actions were too swift; they didn’t use the Energy Cannon or activate the energy shield. The assault was entirely based on speed and close combat.

The alert Mechas at the front and on the left flank were killed instantly. By the time we realized something was amiss, they had already appeared before us.

You can’t even imagine how fast they were. Like arrows shot from a dark forest, the sound of the bowstring had just rung, and the arrowhead was already before your eyes.

Yes, we were utterly no match for them.

A basic move like a sidestep with a punch, our best Mech Knight could perform it in 0.37 seconds, but the opponent could do the same move in less than 0.2 seconds.

As for other advanced moves, do not even mention them.

Those sixth and seventh-level techniques that we couldn’t execute even if we gave it our all, were as simple as basic training exercises in the Mechanical Control Standards for them.

In the beginning, we could barely fend off their attacks, but as the frequency gap in combat maneuvers accumulated, we couldn’t withstand them at all. In fact, we were still countering their previous move when their second and third moves already landed on us.

Sir, you can imagine, it was a massacre.

Before them, we were like puppets. In just a matter of tens of minutes, our unit collapsed. The platoon leader was killed first, followed by the deputy company commander and several platoon leaders right at the start. Out of over a hundred and fifty people in the company, only I survived...”

Words like these weren’t just uttered by one survivor.

When survivors from different units, at different times and places, all described the same scene, every listener understood what kind of fierce beings they had provoked.

And now, even the division commander of the 113th Division met his end at their hands. Two Major Generals, two Colonels, and over a dozen colonel-level officers. This almost signifies that the 113th Division, which had just reached the fifth strike position and hadn’t even fired a shot, had lost its combat capacity.

This kind of blow is devastating to front-line troop morale. Even though the five squads of Judgers on Sunset Mountain continuously reported one astounding Brilliance battle report after another, it couldn’t quell the soldiers’ panic.

Because everyone knew, the more the Judgers killed, the more frenzied the Fei Alliance’s retaliation would be.

It’s undoubtedly foolish to engage in such a hit-and-run competition with the opponent.

The majority of the Fei Alliance garrison on the mountain is concentrated on well-defended positions. Their purpose was originally for defense. Whereas below the mountain, the expansive strike fields stretched endlessly.

These attack bases, formed merely by the assembly of troops without trenches, were already spread wide apart between divisions. Below, the regiment and battalion-level units each had their defensive zones. An Armored Division, when spread out, covered several hills, becoming a natural target for hit-and-run attacks.

Moreover, formidable as they were, the Judgers had only five squads.

When the Su Jie Alliance Army’s Special Forces were being completely suppressed by the enemy, there was no comparison between the results achieved by both sides within the same time frame.

Now, the front-line Armored Divisions have been forced to withdraw the deployed troops, significantly reducing the controlled area. The Su Jie Alliance Army’s command over the battlefield was already weak, and now communication between several strike positions has been cut off. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Moreover, the scheduled all-out attack time set for six in the morning has been delayed again and again.

From six to seven, then from seven to eight... now it’s already nine in the morning, and yet the troops still have not completed preparations for combat.

Poor communication, ineffective command, lack of battlefield intelligence, coupled with the panic caused by the enemy’s ubiquitous harassment... all the factors restricting the offensive are present.

What to do next?

The indicator lights of the SkyNet equipment flickered against Langman’s ashen face. He turned to look at Reinhardt.

Reinhardt sat on the sofa with a blank expression.

When Langman’s gaze swept over, he lifted his eyelids, met the gaze, and slightly raised an eyebrow.

”General Langman, ready to launch the all-out attack?”

Langman’s pupils contracted, silent, not speaking a word.

Whether it’s Langman, the Admiral from Suss, or Reinhardt, the former Gazalin Admiral, neither are ordinary people.

In terms of cunning and calculation, experience and intelligence, Langman is one in ten thousand, and Reinhardt is a brilliant genius.

When Langman instantly understood the key points, Reinhardt, too, instantly saw through Langman’s intentions.

Both understood that no matter what, the situation could not be further dragged out.

Even though the conditions for launching an all-out attack are pretty much nonexistent now. However, forcibly launching the attack is Langman’s only choice at this moment.

After all, he still controlled absolutely superior forces. Besides, in Reinhardt’s hands, there were still a full one hundred and fifty Judger Mech Knights.

For Langman, the failure of the Special Warfare on this battlefield is not fatal. Losing some forces early on due to disadvantages in communication, command, and battlefield intelligence is not fatal either.

However, endlessly failing to capture Sunset Mountain, resulting in a shift in the situation, and being held accountable by Bellif, is fatal.

Rather than that, it’s better to stake it all and use the Judgers as the spearhead to forcibly launch an attack. As long as Sunset Mountain is captured, a single success covers hundreds of faults, and no one can say anything.

”I will personally lead the troops as the vanguard for the Allied Forces.” Reinhardt slightly smiled and stood up.

Langman was taken aback, a wave of emotion suddenly welling up in his heart.

He didn’t understand why Reinhardt was doing this, but regardless, Reinhardt, who could absolutely boss around in front of him, always maintained a humility and cooperation that made Langman feel profoundly grateful.

”Actually, this is the bandit army’s challenge to us.” Reinhardt gently patted Langman’s shoulder, ”Pull back your men, and leave the rest to us.”
