Sister Nan's Combat Strength is Unknown, But It's Probably Only a Tiny Bit Stronger

215: Something big has happened! That shameless old man, Luo Yonghao, wants to bet me who will have a baby first. The Zombie Cat let out a drooling roar and leapt through the air toward Ge Yue. At the critical moment of life and death, an ancient saber flew through the air and pierced the Zombie Cat’s abdomen, saving Ge Yue and buying the three of them time to escape.

”Sister Nan, we’ll help you deal with this Zombie Cat!” Ge Yue skidded to a halt and ran back.

Si Nan waved them off. ”No need. You’re no match for it. Get to the guardroom, quickly.”

”Fine.” Ge Yue looked at the Zombie Cat, which had fallen to the ground but was already scrambling back up. It was as large as a tiger, and the ancient saber was still lodged in its belly. Gritting his teeth, he continued to run; staying behind would only make them a burden.

”Come on, let’s go one-on-one.” Seeing that the hindrances had left, Si Nan drew another long ancient saber and blocked the Zombie Cat’s path from three meters away. She had finally found a powerful opponent.

Perhaps this time she could test where her limits lay after her Supernatural Ability had advanced.

”Roar—” The Zombie Cat opened its bloody maw and roared at Si Nan, baring its claws as it pounced. However, as soon as it got close, Si Nan felt like vomiting; the stench of its rotting flesh was disgusting.

Si Nan forced down her nausea and raised her saber to attack. ”Kill!”

When the ancient saber met the sharp cat claws, it surprisingly failed to slice through them. She was astonished. ”Oh, your evolution is quite impressive. Let’s go again.”

Si Nan grew excited. She loved well-evolved Zombie Beasts. Once she killed it, the crystal core she’d dig out would be excellent too. The more she fought, the more courageous and passionate she became.

Her speed was incredible—stabbing, parrying, hacking, slicing, and thrusting. Initially, the Zombie Cat could handle it with ease, but it soon realized this human was too cunning. Not only could its claws not touch the human, but its claws were being shaved down. If this continued, it would become a useless cat without claws.

”Meow—” At the critical moment, it let out its original cry, trying to trick Si Nan into letting her guard down so it could pierce the human’s chest with a claw.

However, Si Nan’s eyes widened. The ancient saber she was swinging down changed direction mid-air, suddenly slicing horizontally toward the Zombie Cat’s head. ”Oh ho, so you still know you’re just a cat? Not bad, your intelligence is decent. Let me slice off your head and see if your crystal core is as big as a duck egg!”

”Roar!” The Zombie Cat was enraged. It roared and skidded to a halt, retreating. Then it turned its backside toward Si Nan and whipped its large, mutated tail—now covered in sharp spikes—at her in a frenzy.

”Hahaha!” Si Nan laughed loudly. While dodging the tail, she found the perfect opening and chopped down.

”Awoo!” The strike hit the Zombie Cat’s large tail dead center, splitting it in two. The section with the spikes was severed, and black blood gushed out.

Seeing the black blood contaminate the ground, Si Nan’s expression turned cold. No longer playing around, she used her Supernatural Ability to control the ancient saber. With a sharp ”shink,” she decapitated the Zombie Cat.

The black blood nearly splashed onto her face. After digging out the egg-sized crystal core, she had Ge Yue pour gasoline on the black blood to burn it away. ”It seems I should deal with Zombie Beasts outside from now on, so I don’t waste the resources I worked so hard to gather.”

”Sister Nan, are you alright?” Gu Jie and the others had just arrived.

Si Nan shook her head. ”Of course I’m fine. Now, you guys get ready to come out with me. We’re going to cut down all those dead trees; otherwise, it’s too unsafe.”

”We’re already prepared.” Gu Jie stepped aside to reveal the chainsaws, machetes, and sledgehammers the group behind him had ready.

He had actually arrived a while ago. Seeing the young woman playing with the Zombie Cat as if it were a toy, he hadn’t intervened, but instead went to prepare the logging tools. Although Brother Sen had previously cleared a circle of trees within three hundred meters of the wall, animals with strong jumping abilities like cats became even more agile after evolving.

Across a three-hundred-meter distance, as long as they could use even a tiny bit of help in between—like the cars parked around the Residential Area, or utility poles and streetlights—they could easily enter the community.

Since those things were already useless after the Strong Acid Rain, it was better to clear them out as soon as possible.

”Well done. Let’s go then. Everyone, stay sharp. We’ll deal with the dozens of zombies outside first. Be quick and keep your eyes and ears open; whatever you do, don’t get bitten.

This is also a good chance for some real combat to review the results of your training.”

”Yes, Sister Nan!”

The group marched out in high spirits. Real combat was the only way to improve, and danger could bring out the potential in these youths. Si Nan walked at the back, watching the energetic youngsters with a slight smile.

As soon as the gate opened, the zombies waiting there lunged forward. The youths were the first to charge. ”Kill!”

Gu Jie and his five subordinates spread out to protect the teenagers. The scene was harmonious and supportive.

Meanwhile, Si Nan held her gun, her eyes fixed on the zombies. Whenever she saw an ambusher, she provided cover fire. The youths were a bit intimidated at first, but with Sister Nan guarding them, they lost their fear and fought with abandon.

The blades in their hands flew; as long as they could knock down a zombie, they didn’t care what moves they used.

Black blood accumulated on the ground, and the youths were splashed with quite a bit, but not one of them retreated. Instead, they fought with increasing vigor. This was exactly the sight Si Nan wanted to see, and she was extremely happy.

”Nan Nan is this happy just looking at other men?” Suddenly, a familiar voice sounded in her ear. With a cliché, dizzying whirl, she found herself in a warm embrace.

He hadn’t seen her for a week, and he missed her to death. For the first time in his life, he truly understood the old saying: ’One day apart feels like three autumns.’

The ancients truly did not deceive me.

”Luo Sen? You’re back? How are your parents?” Si Nan let Luo Sen hold her.

Luo Sen was a bit disappointed, blaming Si Nan for not asking about him first. ”Aren’t you going to show some concern for your husband?”

Si Nan glanced at his long legs out of the corner of her eye and twitched her lips. ”Aren’t you perfectly intact? You don’t need my concern. Quickly, tell me how your parents are.”

Luo Sen’s handsome face immediately crumpled.

Si Nan’s heart skipped a beat. ”Did something happen to them? Where are they hurt? Is it serious? Did Barrier City fall?”

She asked four questions in a row, her tone urgent, her hands instinctively gripping Luo Sen’s arms.

Seeing her so worried, Luo Sen replied solemnly, ”Something big happened. Old Luo, that shameless man, wants to bet with me on who will have a Child first. I can’t lose to him, or my mom will mock me for being inferior to her husband.”

”Get lost!” Si Nan pushed Luo Sen away and gave him a hard kick.

The shameless man grinned from ear to ear, pulling Si Nan back into his arms. ”Hahaha, I’m just teasing you. Old Luo is fine, and my mom is fine too. It’s just that Barrier City suffered an unprecedented attack from a Beast Tide and almost fell.

I helped with some modifications, and it’s fine now. We can focus on having a baby in peace.”

”You’re still talking about that!” Si Nan raised her hand to hit him again.

Luo Sen proactively leaned his face toward her, smiling with soul-stirring charm. ”Keep this face for now. Wait until we’re home and there are no outsiders before you hit it.”
