Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1644: Chapter 1628: Let’s Haul It Back First

“Oh my god.”

Miss Yue felt as though her limbs weren’t obeying her commands. She quietly tugged Su Qingqing’s sleeve beside her and asked in a whisper, “I’m not dreaming, right? Is the person welcoming us really that person?”

Su Qingqing nodded: “Don’t be surprised. We’ve experienced this once already, so we’re used to it.”

Just as she finished speaking, Su Qingqing stumbled and nearly fell off the steps. If Bai Yishan hadn’t quickly caught her, Su Qingqing might have ended up flat on her face in front of everyone.

Originally, Miss Yue thought Su Qingqing was genuinely that calm, but seeing her reaction now, she couldn’t help but snicker, her eyes full of mockery and amusement.

Su Qingqing showed a bit of embarrassment. She wasn’t bragging; the last time when she returned from the New York International Treasure Appraisal Conference on the same flight as Huo Sining, the spectacle was even more grandiose than now.

Dozens of colonel-level officers lined up to welcome them, Chief Lu personally conferred a military rank on Huo Sining. The synchronized salutes and the resounding “Welcome home, Chief” were more passionate and thrilling than now.

But despite having experienced it once, seeing Chief Lu bringing a group of old gentlemen to the airport again caught Su Qingqing off guard, leading her to miss a step.

It’s not Su Qingqing being overly dramatic; this is a scenario that an ordinary person might not encounter in a lifetime.

A chief personally coming to welcome someone is an enormous honor. Even if they weren’t there for them, being on the same plane as Huo Sining was still a privilege.

The retired soldiers were already too excited to speak, looking as dumbstruck as fools after disembarking, unsure of what to do with their hands and feet.

Chief Lu shook hands with each of them before sternly looking at Huo Sining and deliberately putting on a stern face, saying:

“Huo Lass, I have to criticize you for today’s matter. Such a big thing, why didn’t you mention it to me beforehand? If I hadn’t heard it from your master, were you planning to always keep it from your grandpa?”

Huo Sining felt a bit embarrassed on hearing this and awkwardly smiled, “Grandfather Lu, I thought I could handle this matter myself and didn’t expect to trouble you…”

Chief Lu, hearing Huo Sining’s words, couldn’t help but snort coldly:

“Hmph, what trouble? You’re clearly not treating your Grandfather Lu as family, right? I consider you like my own granddaughter, and treating me this way makes me feel very disheartened.”

Huo Sining hurriedly explained: “No, Grandfather Lu, I really didn’t mean it that way. I never saw you as an outsider, it’s just that I initially thought of handling this matter low-key, not intending for any fanfare…”

“You’re good in all aspects, except you’re too by-the-book!”

Chief Lu’s expression softened, though he looked at Huo Sining with both amusement and frustration:

“Events this significant, no matter how discreetly handled, will still be known to some. Moreover, you’re righteously benefiting the country; these items were repatriated through legitimate means. Why downplay such a great affair? It should be widely publicized. These items will eventually see the public in your private exhibit, sooner or later explanations will need to be given to the people.”

Huo Sining acknowledged this, feeling it reasonable, and laughed, “It’s my shortsightedness, I didn’t consider it thoroughly.”

Chief Lu waved it off and said, “Enough, enough, let’s not dwell on your oversight. You wanted to keep it low profile, and I didn’t spill the beans. The airport’s been cleared today, so no one will leak what happened. Now, lead us old fellows to see the treasures you brought back.”

Huo Sining nodded, briefly explaining to the staff on Adrian’s private plane. They were then led toward the airplane’s cargo hold.

Inside, rows of boxes were neatly stacked, and the elderly gentlemen tremulously approached, cautiously picking up the outermost box and carefully removing its sealing tape.

An exquisite and vibrant, intricately crafted large vessel appeared before everyone’s eyes. Its substrate was hefty, the shape was upright, its glaze colorful and brilliant, the entire surface was covered in finely drawn motifs, with the theme conveying auspicious meanings, undoubtedly a prime exhibit-worthy porcelain of the palace collection.

“This is the Wanli polychrome porcelain Bailu Zun!”

Upon seeing the vessel, Huang Zhenlong couldn’t help but exclaim.

The other elderly gentlemen nodded repeatedly, finding it more fascinating the more they looked; such a beautiful polychrome porcelain Zun, something even the Forbidden City lacked.

Previously, when they received the fax from Huo Sining listing the porcelain Zun among other items, they didn’t think much of it, but now seeing the actual item, they were taken aback.

At this moment, no one could utter a word; their attention was wholly fixed on this porcelain Zun, reluctant to shift their gaze for even a moment, afraid it was all a dream, fearful that one wrong glance would make the Zun vanish from sight.

The elders clustered around it like survivors thirsting in a desert for days, hungrily staring at the Zun as if every look might be their last opportunity.

“Uh-uh, Master, all these items have returned; we have ample time to admire them. For now, we should unload everything quickly and transport them back. The plane’s been flying for seven or eight hours, and the crew is tired too. We should not delay their rest by lingering here.”

Huo Sining promptly reminded the elderly gentlemen.

Qin Lianshan was the first to react, tapping his forehead and smiling: “Yes, yes, let’s not be hasty in inspecting; let’s transport everything back first and study them leisurely later.”

The other elderly men saw sense in this and, albeit reluctantly, duly repacked the items into their boxes, resealing them.

Everyone knew that now wasn’t the time for viewing; priorities needed to be clear.

Chief Lu nodded to his son, and Lu Zhenghang, with a command, dispatched those officers who had lined up previously at the airport, now briskly jogging over, orderly entering the plane’s cargo hold, swiftly and neatly beginning to unload the cargo boxes.
