Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1623: Chapter 1607: Gold Pistol

Returning empty-handed and ambushed by an octopus, this sea trip truly is a sorry sight.

Huo Sining felt somewhat unwilling inside, but there was nothing she could do. She could only say to herself to return first and talk about it later.

However, as she was stepping out of this room, she noticed the door, knocked askew by the octopus, had the English words ”Captain’s Office” written on it.

Seeing that this room turned out to be the captain’s, Huo Sining’s footsteps halted involuntarily.

She hadn’t really looked through this room. In fact, due to only finding some broken rings and necklaces before, Huo Sining had already concluded that there wouldn’t be anything valuable in this ship, so she hadn’t really searched thoroughly later on.

Now, seeing those words on the door, something stirred in Huo Sining’s heart.

Since this is the captain’s room, could there be anything different inside?

Huo Sining changed direction and returned to this room.

This room wasn’t much different from the other crew’s quarters, just a bed and a cabinet nailed to the steel wall of the room. The only difference might be the additional furnishings, like a desk, a phonograph, and a bookshelf.

It was clear that this captain had some education and taste; the quality of life was not low.

But at the moment, the desk, bookshelf, and phonograph were all chaotically scattered across the room, with books and lamps strewn about on the floor, looking like a complete mess.

Though not holding much hope, Huo Sining still searched through the room, including the wardrobe attached to the bed and the drawers of the desk.

In the drawer, Huo Sining found four Spanish 18th-century gold coins. Huo Sining wasn’t too familiar with Spanish culture and didn’t know if these coins were worth anything.

But these coins looked brand new, and even after years of immersion in seawater, they remained unchanged, indicating they were pure gold. So, Huo Sining didn’t hesitate and pocketed the coins.

As Huo Sining rummaged around preparing to leave, her gaze suddenly fell on an inconspicuous-looking box in the corner.

The box looked terribly corroded, pitted like it was filled with smallpox, but Huo Sining still moved closer and opened it.

The box had a lock requiring a combination, but due to seawater immersion, Huo Sining just applied a little force and broke off one corner, crudely prying it open within a few attempts.

But inside the box was not jewelry or gold, much less invaluable ancient relics, but rather an item resembling a cylindrical tube. It appeared to be a stainless steel hollow cylinder, about a foot long. At first glance, Huo Sining couldn’t discern what it was.

The hollow cylinder was completely sealed off, with only one side covered by a tightly screwed stainless steel lid.

The cylinder’s material was decent; even after soaking in seawater for years, it hadn’t decayed, just rusted.

Huo Sining instinctively wanted to twist open the lid, but due to the rust, the lid had fused with the cylinder, making it impossible to unscrew.

Unable to twist off the lid, she logically prepared to force it open, but just as she was about to throw the cylinder to the ground to stomp on it, Huo Sining had second thoughts.

What if the items inside the cylinder were fragile or couldn’t be wet? Wouldn’t she damage them?

Thinking this, Huo Sining picked up the cylinder again, shaking it. She could feel something moving inside, suggesting it contained something.

After pondering, she activated her Heavenly Eye, attempting to discern what exactly was stored inside the cylinder.

The contents of the cylinder quickly became clear to Huo Sining, revealing not the artifacts she hoped to see, but over a dozen sheets of rolled xuan paper, wrapped around an old handgun and several boxes of bullets.

Upon seeing the handgun and bullets, Huo Sining was momentarily stunned. Only then did she remember that the ship sank during WWII, so the captain hiding a handgun and bullets wasn’t unusual at all.

Huo Sining’s attention shifted to these two weapons. Without thinking further, she tossed the cylinder into her Space, and after thoroughly searching the room again, she returned to the yacht.

After returning ashore, Gu Xu, Miss Yue, and Zhong Xiaoyao immediately gathered around, inquiring about Huo Sining’s situation: ”How did it go?”

Huo Sining, somewhat depressed, threw out everything she gathered from the ship and said dejectedly, ”Here it all is. I don’t know if it’s worth anything, not sure if it’ll even cover the fuel for this sea trip!”

Hearing this, the two women both leaned in, showing little interest in the rings and necklaces, and with no one recognizing the value of the four gold coins, they turned their attention to the remaining stainless steel cylinder. Miss Yue curiously asked, ”What is this?”

Huo Sining shook her head, ”I don’t know. Found it in the Captain’s Office, hidden in a locked box. Felt mysterious, so I brought it back.”

Everyone’s gaze shifted to Gu Xu. Gu Xu instinctively touched his nose, then accepted the cylinder.

The cylinder was rusted shut, but after soaking it in vinegar for a while, it loosened quickly.

Once Gu Xu unscrewed the lid, he soon poured out an old European-style handgun and several boxes of bullets from the cylinder.

Seeing the handgun, Miss Yue and Zhong Xiaoyao on the deck stood frozen.

At this time, Su Qingqing and Bai Yishan inside the cabin also came out. Noticing Huo Sining and the others gathered on the deck, they joined the crowd. The moment Su Qingqing saw the European handgun on the deck, her eyes lit up. She quickly reached out, grabbed the gun, posed stylishly a few times, then excitedly asked:

”This gun is beautiful, where did it come from?!”

Su Qingqing was right. Although this gun had an old design, dating back to the 18th or 19th century, it was exquisitely crafted. The entire gun was made of pure gold, with the barrel and bullets wrapped in silver foil, and the trigger and handle studded with gems, making it very striking. It’s no wonder Su Qingqing couldn’t resist reaching out for it, even Huo Sining was spellbound by the gun.
