Urban Martial Saint

Pushing open the stone gate, the first thing that caught the eye was a ground full of corpses. Those water monsters, pale all over like dead bodies, were now lying everywhere, mostly in pieces with ink-green blood flowing all over them.

The cave was permeated with a foul smell; the blood of these water monsters was unbearably pungent, enough to make one feel nauseous.

Handsome Fatty Wang searched his gaze among the scattered limbs and broken arms, eager to find Ye Qing. However, after looking around, he couldn’t find Ye Qing, which made his heart hang uneasily.

”Hey, Young Ye, how are you? Where are you, answer me!” Handsome Fatty Wang shouted loudly, but Ye Qing seemed to have vanished from the cave, with no trace of movement. Despite Handsome Fatty Wang’s loud shouting, there was no response at all.

”Damn it, didn’t you say there wouldn’t be any trouble? Why is no one here now? You damn well come out!” Handsome Fatty Wang jumped down from the stone corridor and started yelling loudly in the cave.

At this moment, suddenly, someone emerged from the pool in the cave, splashing water that startled Handsome Fatty Wang with a shiver.

”Damn, water monster!” Handsome Fatty Wang yelled angrily, grabbing an axe and hurling it forth.

The person emerging from the water blocked the axe thrown by Handsome Fatty Wang and shouted, ”Stop hacking, it’s me!”

”Uh?” Handsome Fatty Wang was stunned for a moment, only then seeing clearly that the person coming out of the water was none other than Ye Qing.

Seeing Ye Qing, Handsome Fatty Wang’s expression instantly eased, he exhaled a breath of relief, pointing at Ye Qing and scolding, ”You ****, playing water monster to scare the Fat Lord, huh!”

”Who scared you!” Ye Qing retorted helplessly, ”I had my body covered in this water monsters’ blood earlier, smelling awful, so I jumped into the pool to wash it off. Who knew you’d throw an axe to chop at me as soon as I came out. Luckily, I was quick-eyed and blocked it, otherwise I’d have been injured by you!”

Handsome Fatty Wang curled his lips and said, ”Oh come on, I saw those water monsters shredding at you earlier, not a scratch was left on you. My axe is much duller than those water monsters’ teeth, doubt it would even make a mark on you!”

Ye Qing was actually just joking with him. Truth be told, Handsome Fatty Wang had jumped down to desperately save him, and even came down to look for him, which had deeply touched him. Although he had had quite a few grudges with this chubby fellow before, having gone through life and death together, they already regarded each other as brothers!

”How’s Wen’er?” Ye Qing climbed out of the pool, wringing out his clothes while asking.

”Still tossed in the stone corridor, no idea how she is, you better go have a look yourself.” Handsome Fatty Wang said, pulling off his coat and handing it to Ye Qing, ”Cover up with this first, your pants have been torn into a triangle, how can you face people wearing that?”

Ye Qing was speechless too, taking the coat from Handsome Fatty Wang and wrapped it on himself. Truly, during the fierce fight with those water monsters earlier, although they couldn’t harm his body, his clothes weren’t as durable as his body and were torn to shreds. Now Ye Qing was dressed like a savage, only the crucial parts were covered, thanks to Ye Qing using some leftover fabric to cover his body.

Handsome Fatty Wang’s coat was a big one, and worn on Ye Qing, it just managed to cover him fully. Of course, this was also thanks to Handsome Fatty Wang’s larger build, the coat couldn’t even button up when he wore it.

”Wow, so many water monsters, all chopped to death by you?” Handsome Fatty Wang turned his head looking at the bodies of water monsters covering the floor, couldn’t help but marvel, ”Young Ye, you are really quite fierce!”

In this cave, there were twenty to thirty water monsters, all dealt with by Ye Qing, which was really a desperate struggle for him. Thankfully, these water monsters had the strength of a Peak Master, but not their speed. They were like powerful wild beasts having only the ability to tear apart, really not possessing other threats. And they couldn’t harm Ye Qing, the chaotic fight’s result just rendered those water monsters all slain by Ye Qing.

Looking at the surrounding bodies of those water monsters, Ye Qing instinctively reached out to touch the Prayer Beads string on his wrist. If not for the power from this string of Prayer Beads helping out, no matter how robust Ye Qing’s body was, it would have been impossible to kill so many water monsters.

After killing these water monsters, the Prayer Beads on Ye Qing’s wrist gradually became calm, the cyan glow disappeared. The string of beads reverted to its previous form, pearl white as jade, one wouldn’t expect it to emit cyan glow.

Ye Qing walked to the stone corridor, brought out the unconscious Wen’er, reached out to check her breath, found she was still breathing. This eased Ye Qing’s mind; as long as Wen’er was alive, that was the best thing.

”How is it, dead or alive?” Handsome Fatty Wang asked from the side.

”Of course alive!” Ye Qing lifted Wen’er up, took out a fragment of the Devouring Demon Flower from his body and stuffed it into Wen’er’s mouth.

During the earlier chaos, Ye Qing’s clothes were torn apart, and the Devouring Demon Flower he had on him scattered all around. After the battle, Ye Qing picked up those Devouring Demon Flowers again, since they were very effective for healing.

After swallowing the Devouring Demon Flower, although Wen’er didn’t wake up immediately, it was clear that her breathing had stabilized a lot, meaning she was completely out of danger.

Ye Qing carried Wen’er out of the Stone Corridor, then turned to Handsome Fatty Wang and said, ”The Water Monsters here have been taken care of. You can call your friends over here. It’s not safe for them on the other side with a Water Monster in the water, it’s safer here!”

”Alright, I’ll go bring them over!” Handsome Fatty Wang stood up, walked along the Stone Corridor, and just as he pushed open the stone gate on the other side, Ye Qing heard a scream.

”Oh no, there’s trouble on this side...” Handsome Fatty Wang turned his head and shouted, then a tentacle stretched out, directly wrapping Handsome Fatty Wang and dragging him away.

”Fatty!” Ye Qing shouted loudly, didn’t have time to think, quickly hugged Wen’er and jumped into the Stone Corridor. He placed Wen’er inside the Stone Corridor, shut the stone gate, and then headed towards the Cave on the other side.

Although Ye Qing had taken care of the Water Monsters here, he still didn’t dare to take risks. Before going to help Handsome Fatty Wang, he needed to close the stone gate here to ensure Wen’er wouldn’t be in danger.

Rushing to the stone gate on the other side, Ye Qing could see the situation inside the Cave clearly. In that Cave, there was a gigantic Water Monster using its tentacles to wrap around those inside. Handsome Fatty Wang was among those being wrapped, repeatedly soaked in and lifted out of the water by the tentacle.

On the shore nearby, two or three people were frantically running to evade the tentacles, while three corpses lay beside the shore, apparently already drowned.

This Water Monster was similar to the octopus-like Water Monster Ye Qing had seen before, but much larger. The previous Water Monster’s body was only about a meter long, whereas this Water Monster’s body was a full four or five meters, with tentacles over twenty meters long. Standing on the water, it looked like the kind of octopus monster that could flip a ship in movies, incredibly terrifying.

Faced with such a Water Monster, the Tomb Robbers brought by Handsome Fatty Wang didn’t know how to fight back. At this moment, they were all wailing and fleeing for their lives, just hoping to survive. However, the Cave around them was sealed, and the only stone gate was blocked by the Water Monster. Where else could they escape to?

This situation also greatly shocked Ye Qing. Seeing the smaller octopus Water Monster earlier, Ye Qing was merely surprised, not too fearful. But seeing such a huge octopus Water Monster, Ye Qing was filled with awe. This is what you call a Water Monster, truly a tyrant of the water!

Ye Qing could be certain that this octopus Water Monster was far stronger than the dragon crocodile he had encountered near the Underground River outside the secret chamber of Patriarch Bodhidharma’s death. If it were before, facing such a Water Monster, Ye Qing could only run. But now he couldn’t run, because Handsome Fatty Wang was still caught by this Water Monster.

Stand at the stone gate, the octopus Water Monster also saw him. One of its tentacles immediately wrapped towards him, obviously intending to catch Ye Qing too.

Not waiting for the octopus Water Monster’s tentacle to catch him, Ye Qing stepped directly forward and jumped into the pool.

Handsome Fatty Wang was just pulled out of the water by the octopus Water Monster, saw Ye Qing jump into the pool, and couldn’t help but be greatly amazed, shouting, ”Young Ye, do you want to die? Jumping into the water, isn’t this seeking death? It’s a Water Monster, uh...”

Before he finished speaking, Handsome Fatty Wang was pressed into the water by the Water Monster again, drinking a significant gulp of water. This octopus Water Monster was quite cunning, not directly drowning people, but repeatedly pulling them out and soaking them, seemingly intending to make people drink water and wear them out.

Ye Qing heard Handsome Fatty Wang’s shout, but at the moment he didn’t have time to think that much. He knew very well that the tentacles of this octopus Water Monster were extremely agile, if he stayed on the shore, he could definitely be caught by the tentacles. Although the octopus Water Monster’s speed would be faster in the water, in the water, Ye Qing would be closer to its body. As long as he could grab its body, Ye Qing would have a chance to fight it and save Handsome Fatty Wang and the others!
