Urban Martial Saint

At this distance, not only Wen’er but even Ye Qing and Fu Qingping were visibly shocked.

No one knew what lay within the dark cave, but after seeing the remains of so many expert warriors, the three had to start contemplating the situation inside this dark cave. You should know, those Japanese ninjas were all peak masters, but when they screamed, there wasn’t even the slightest sign of resistance, which shows just how strong the thing attacking them in the darkness was. At least, even if Fu Qingping were uninjured and at his peak, he wouldn’t dare underestimate the danger lurking in the dark, let alone now when he’s wounded.

Ye Qing gripped the box that held the Tianzhu Sword tightly. Now, although Fu Qingping had preserved his life, his internal injuries were severe and not yet healed, leaving him unable to fight. As for Wen’er, she was just a girl; no matter how strong she was, she would be so scared by such danger that her legs might give out. So, among the three of them, only Ye Qing had to shoulder the responsibility of protecting the three of them.

Listening to the screams gradually weaken, Ye Qing gestured for Fu Qingping and Wen’er to continue retreating. The place where the person died just moments ago was only fifty meters away from them, meaning the danger was very close, and under such circumstances, exiting this cave would be the best way to preserve their lives, at least for now.

Of course, if they leave this cave, they might be able to save their lives, but they will never make it out. Ye Qing could see that the Beidou Fumo Path would never end. And if they wanted to get out of the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master, the only way was to pass through this cave and find the Gate of Life in the Nine Palaces and Eight Trigrams Formation. But, under the current situation, can they still pass through this cave? The thing in the dark cave could silently appear beside them at any time and kill them all without a sound!

Ye Qing certainly knew the circumstances, so he didn’t lead the two of them out of the cave immediately but stayed at the exit, carefully listening to the sounds inside the cave. He wanted to first observe the specific situation inside the cave, then find a way to get through it and locate the Gate of Life to leave the cave. As for what might be inside the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master, he had to at least send Fu Qingping and Wen’er out through the Gate of Life first before figuring out how to find it.

While the three hid at the exit, quietly listening to the outside, a flash of light suddenly appeared inside the dark cave, as if a strong flashlight had suddenly lit up the interior.

This flash of light suddenly illuminated a lot of areas inside the cave. Ye Qing could clearly see, just fifty meters away from them, three hairy creatures that looked like humans but appeared very strange, surrounding a bloodied corpse, tearing and gnawing. Judging by the clothing, the corpse was one of those Japanese ninjas, indicating that the second to die was also a ninja.

Ye Qing was surprised. He was aware that the first group of Japanese ninjas had six or seven people entering the cave, and the second group had two. Regardless of whether it was the group ahead or these two, they didn’t act alone. Logically, if one person was attacked, another would immediately scream. But why did Ye Qing hear two screams one after the other, and they were quite far apart—could it be these two Japanese ninjas were acting individually? But why would there be solo ninjas? How could they be acting alone?

While Ye Qing pondered this, the three creatures gnawing at the corpse seemed to notice the light and simultaneously lifted their heads. From Ye Qing’s perspective, he could clearly see one of the creatures’ faces.

These three creatures, aside from the full body of fur, resemble humans in size. When Ye Qing first saw them, he thought these three creatures were similar to the mountain savages he saw at the Tomb of the Duwang Sect Master. But seeing the creature’s face, Ye Qing completely distinguished them from those savages.

The creature’s face resembled a wolf; if it weren’t for its humanoid body, one would definitely think this was a wolf. However, it possessed a human body, could stand upright, and with its eyes flashing cold light and a pair of sharp claws, it looked exactly like the legendary werewolves of Western lore!

These three werewolf-like creatures, stimulated by the light, instantly stretched their necks and howled like wolves. At this moment, Ye Qing also noticed several silhouettes standing in the direction where the light came from. Because they were backlit, Ye Qing couldn’t see them clearly, but he figured they were likely the Japanese ninjas or members of the Church.

Those people also saw the three werewolf-like creatures and were visibly shocked. When the three werewolves howled, those people finally reacted. Someone gasped, and the person holding the flashlight immediately turned it off, plunging the surroundings back into darkness.

Ye Qing clearly heard the three werewolves, obviously attracted by those people, quickly moving towards their direction. However, the footfalls of the three werewolves were incredibly light; if Ye Qing hadn’t been listening carefully, he might not have heard them.

This situation allowed Ye Qing to breathe a sigh of relief. Whether those with the flashlight were Japanese ninjas or members of the Church, they were all enemies to Ye Qing. Whether these three werewolves or the people prevailed, it was beneficial to Ye Qing. While they were occupied, Ye Qing and his companions could take the chance to leave the cave.

When Ye Qing first entered this cave, he had quietly calculated the cave’s orientation and determined the position of the Gate of Life. So, as soon as the three werewolves left, Ye Qing quietly tapped Fu Qingping and Wen’er, signaling them to follow him out of this place.

Fu Qingping and Wen’er were also greatly amazed when they saw the three werewolves. Wen’er especially was utterly terrified. It’s no wonder; she was a girl and had never seen such horrifying creatures—three human-bodied, wolf-headed monsters, an encounter that would shock anyone.

Seeing Wen’er trembling continuously, Ye Qing couldn’t help but feel a bit of pity. He gently patted her shoulder, signaling her not to be scared, and then slowly led the way out, showing the two the path.

Fu Qingping was still okay; although seriously injured internally and unable to exert strength, he had been through many storms in his life and could withstand such a scene. Wen’er, however, clung to Ye Qing’s arm and stayed closely by him, not daring to stray even a bit. Even so, her body still trembled incessantly, given that the darkness was indeed filled with unknown terrors.

The three of them had just walked a short distance when they heard shouting in the distance, followed by wolf howls, indicating that the three werewolves and those people were now fighting. Seizing this opportunity, Ye Qing sped up, leading the two towards the Gate of Life while the werewolves and those people were engaged in battle.

This cave seemed as if it hollowed out a mountain’s belly, with a vast space below. Although Ye Qing had confirmed the Gate of Life’s direction, reaching it meant virtually traversing the entire mountain, and the distance wasn’t short. They had been walking for five minutes, and the sounds of the battle were getting louder, yet they hadn’t reached the Gate of Life.

”Watch out!” Suddenly, Fu Qingping’s low voice sounded from behind. Ye Qing was startled, sensing a gust of wind rushing towards Wen’er beside him.

Wen’er still had her inner strength. Although currently the strongest among the three, this attack was too sudden, and with her heart filled with fear, she didn’t react in time.

Fortunately, Fu Qingping’s warning made Ye Qing react. He quickly pushed Wen’er aside, using his own body to shield her from the sudden attack.

The powerful force collided with Ye Qing, knocking him to the ground. At the same time, a pair of furry claws grabbed his neck, and a large wolf head, with its bloodthirsty mouth wide open, lunged at his throat. It was only now that Ye Qing saw clearly that their attacker in the dark was another werewolf. Full body of fur, a human body, and a large wolf head, identical to the werewolves encountered.

Weren’t those three werewolves fighting with those people? Considering the fierce battle sounds from there, the fight must be intense. How could those three werewolves have time to come and attack him now? Could it be that there weren’t just three werewolves in this cave? How many werewolves were in here?

This thought only flashed through Ye Qing’s mind as the wolf head’s bloodthirsty jaws neared his throat. Luckily, Ye Qing reacted swiftly, raising his arm to block his neck. The werewolf bit down cruelly, clearly intending to bite through Ye Qing’s arm before severing his neck.

But this werewolf’s plan was a complete miscalculation with Ye Qing. Its sharp fangs bit into Ye Qing’s arm but couldn’t cause any damage. Instead, it stimulated the three forces within Ye Qing.
