Urban Martial Saint

Taking advantage of the darkness, Ye Qing ran in a roundabout route, dodging those few people from the Church and rushing toward the side where the Japanese Ninjas were.

The few from the Church lunged into empty air, and simply ignored Fu Qingping and Wen’er, who had already run far away. Instead, they turned around and chased after Ye Qing. This was only natural; the person the Great Lord hated most was Ye Qing. On top of that, the clues to the Buddha’s Relic and the Healing Holy Medicine were all on Ye Qing. Since they could catch Ye Qing, why would they care about Fu Qingping and Wen’er? Besides, in their eyes, Fu Qingping, gravely injured and on the verge of death, and Wen’er, whose strength wasn’t high, posed no threat to them at all, so there was no need to bother about these two.

Ye Qing wasn’t moving very fast, but he wasn’t far from that group of Japanese Ninjas. So before the people from the Church could catch up to him, he had already reached the Ninjas’ side.

Seeing Ye Qing let Fu Qingping and Wen’er escape while he ran over alone, the Japanese Ninjas couldn’t help being greatly astonished. Especially the Great Elder; he stared wide-eyed at Ye Qing, his face full of doubt, and said, ”Ye Qing, what are you doing?”

”Helping you deal with these Werewolves, of course!” Ye Qing replied casually, and without the slightest fear pounced at a Werewolf. The clash just now had already told him he could easily kill these Werewolves, yet they couldn’t hurt him in the slightest. So for him, dealing with these Werewolves was just too easy.

”You’re helping us deal with these Werewolves?” The Great Elder’s eyes bulged. ”And what makes you think you can…”

Before the Great Elder finished speaking, a Werewolf had already been grabbed by Ye Qing. This Werewolf was extremely ferocious too; it opened its bloody maw and bit toward Ye Qing’s wrist, looking for all the world like it wanted to bite Ye Qing’s fist clean off.

Ye Qing didn’t dodge. He simply thrust his wrist straight into the wolf’s mouth. This sight left that group of Japanese Ninjas and the people from the Church behind them utterly dumbfounded—was Ye Qing seeking death? A Werewolf’s teeth were terrifying; their power was comparable to a Famed Instrument. One bite could pierce even through steel plate!

Before they could react, the Werewolf had already bitten Ye Qing’s wrist completely into its mouth. Yet what happened next left them even more dumbstruck. At the moment the Werewolf bit down, it was as if a bomb had exploded; the Werewolf was blasted directly into pieces, chunks of flesh and sprays of blood scattering in all directions, as if a powerful bomb had been stuffed into its mouth and then detonated, completely blowing the creature apart.

Everyone’s eyeballs nearly popped out. Especially the Great Elder—whatever he’d been about to say was swallowed back down on the spot. He had originally thought only Fu Qingping could handle these Werewolves, but now it seemed Ye Qing could also deal with this pack. Wasn’t this just too unbelievable? According to their intel, Ye Qing’s Martial Arts had been crippled; he supposedly had no strength at all. Why had he suddenly become so powerful in such a short time?

You had to know, while these Werewolves hadn’t reached the Acme, they were incredibly tough. Even for the Great Elder, killing a single Werewolf wasn’t an easy task. That was why, when they were besieged by these Werewolves, they had suffered such heavy casualties.

But now, Ye Qing had killed a Werewolf with ease. The shock in everyone’s hearts could be imagined.

”Ye Qing, you… how did you do that?” A sharp light flashed in the Great Elder’s eyes. He obviously didn’t believe Ye Qing had simply raised his strength so much in such a short period; he could only suspect that Ye Qing had used some special method.

”Don’t forget where we are!” Ye Qing answered as he smashed another Werewolf beside him to death.

In this short time, the people from the Church had already caught up. But seeing Ye Qing cleanly kill two Werewolves, the Church members, who had originally wanted to seize him and drag him back, now didn’t dare move. No one knew what Ye Qing’s true strength was, nor what would happen if Ye Qing suddenly turned his attacks on them. Their bodies weren’t as tough as these Werewolves’ to begin with; if Ye Qing went all out and struck them, they might explode even more miserably than the Werewolves.

”Where we are?” The Great Elder froze for a moment, not yet understanding what Ye Qing meant.

”This is the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master!” Ye Qing shouted back.

”So what if it’s the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master?” The Great Elder paused slightly, then his expression suddenly changed as he roared, ”Ye Qing, don’t tell me you got something from inside the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master?”

Ye Qing laughed inwardly; this was exactly the effect he wanted. This Great Elder really was cooperative—he’d immediately thought of it.

”What do you think?” Ye Qing smashed another Werewolf into a bloody mist with a backhand strike. This scene made the Great Elder’s expression change even more dramatically.

In the Great Elder’s view, Ye Qing’s Martial Arts had been abolished; he was utterly powerless. By rights, any one of these Werewolves should have been able to tear Ye Qing to pieces with ease. Yet within this short span, Ye Qing had already killed four Werewolves—more than the lot of them together had managed. He couldn’t help but suspect that Ye Qing’s strength was terrifying. But how could Ye Qing transform from a cripple who couldn’t practice Martial Arts into such an expert in such a brief time?

As it happened, they were now inside the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master. And who was Ghost Valley Master? For thousands of years, he had been the number one Great Saint of the Taoist Sect. If there were any method that could let Ye Qing become so powerful in a short time, the only explanation was that some power left behind by Ghost Valley Master had turned Ye Qing from a cripple who couldn’t practice Martial Arts into what he was now, able to slaughter these Werewolves with ease.

Putting all this together, a thought instantly rose in the Great Elder’s heart: Ye Qing had already obtained the things inside the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master. It was natural for him to think so. After all, they had been walking the Beidou Fumo Path for nearly a whole day and had found nothing. During this time, they had no idea what had happened outside. If Ye Qing had really entered the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master and obtained what was inside, that would make perfect sense.

He had already been coveting the treasures inside the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master, and now that he’d witnessed Ye Qing’s power, he was completely convinced. The power Ghost Valley Master left behind was truly terrifying—it could actually cut down these Werewolves so effortlessly?

When the Great Elder looked at Ye Qing again, his eyes already held a trace of jealousy and frenzy. Jealous that Ye Qing had obtained the contents of the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master before they did; frenzied because, since Ye Qing had obtained those things, it was equivalent to them obtaining the treasures of the Tomb. After all, Huangfu Ziyu was still in their hands. That alone was enough to threaten Ye Qing.

”Good! Very good!” The Great Elder laughed loudly. ”Ye Qing, thank you for helping us get the things from the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master. As long as you bring them back for us, we will immediately send Miss Huangfu back safe and sound!”

What the Great Elder was saying was essentially telling Ye Qing this: what you obtained is already ours. Give those things to us, and Huangfu Ziyu will return intact. If you refuse, then Huangfu Ziyu will never return intact.

”Cut the crap, I only want Zi Yu!” Ye Qing shouted lowly, then said in a deep voice, ”But don’t be too quick to celebrate. Take a look at those people from the Church!”

The Great Elder had been so shocked by Ye Qing’s display that he hadn’t paid attention to the people from the Church. Now, hearing Ye Qing’s words, he cast them a glance. At this moment, he still didn’t take the Church members seriously. After all, their strength was on par with the Church’s, and on top of that, they had Ye Qing and Fu Qingping. Fu Qingping’s strength went without saying; he alone was enough to wipe out these people from the Church. And now that Ye Qing had obtained the things from the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master, killing the Church members would be even easier.

”The Church dares to enter the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master as well. Looks like they won’t be leaving alive this time!” the Great Elder said coldly.

”I’m not so sure,” Ye Qing said gravely. ”Haven’t you noticed? Those Werewolves aren’t attacking them at all.”

These words made the Great Elder’s expression change slightly. He hadn’t paid attention to this detail before, but looking closely now, it really was the case. Although the Werewolves surrounded them, not a single one was attacking those few from the Church, as if they couldn’t see them at all. That was strange enough to make anyone uneasy.

”What’s going on?” the Great Elder asked in a low voice. His instincts told him this wasn’t simple.

”Because they’ve also gotten something from the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master and know how to avoid the Werewolves,” Ye Qing replied solemnly.

”What?” the Great Elder’s face changed again as he exclaimed, ”They’ve also gotten something from the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master? When… when did that happen?”

”Right before we came in.” Ye Qing said in a deep voice, ”Just now the Great Lord obtained something from the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master, but he hasn’t fully mastered it yet. My grand‑master fought him, and the two ended in mutual injury. My grand‑master is unable to make a move now, and that Great Lord is also badly wounded and unable to fight!”

These words, combined with the Great Lord’s pale face, made it easy to believe that he had indeed been seriously injured. And seeing this, they finally understood why Fu Qingping and Wen’er hadn’t come to help—it turned out Fu Qingping was injured as well.

Thoughts whirled through the Great Elder’s mind, and the way he looked at the Great Lord now held a sharp glint. Since this group from the Church had also obtained things from the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master, they absolutely could not be allowed to leave. No matter what, everything from the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master had to fall into their hands!

”Ye Qing, my stance is still the same as before. You help us get everything from the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master, and we will send Huangfu Ziyu back intact!” The Great Elder gave Ye Qing a long, deep look and said, ”Only when we get everything from the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master intact will we send Huangfu Ziyu back intact!”
