Urban Martial Saint

When Huangfu Ziyu leaped into the abyss, Ye Qing was already more than ten meters away from her.

Ye Qing’s mouth was wide open, as if he was shouting something. However, the speed of the fall was too fast, and all she could hear was the rushing wind in her ears, so she couldn’t make out what he was saying.

Seeing that she couldn’t save Ye Qing, Huangfu Ziyu was very panicked. But instead of being afraid of falling herself, she was worried that she wouldn’t be able to catch Ye Qing.

Without hesitation, Huangfu Ziyu pulled out a strap from her waist and flicked it, causing the strap to unroll dozens of meters—it was a soft whip. Huangfu Ziyu threw the soft whip with force, and its length was just enough to wrap around Ye Qing’s waist.

With a strong pull, the speed of her descent immediately increased a lot, and in a moment she had reached Ye Qing’s side and grabbed his arm, finally bringing them together.

Only at that moment did Huangfu Ziyu hear Ye Qing’s voice, ”Why would you jump down too, you’ll die…”

Huangfu Ziyu glanced at Ye Qing, her cheeks slightly red, and said through clenched teeth, ”You still owe me two promises, and you haven’t fulfilled them, you’re not allowed to die!”

Ye Qing coughed up blood and sighed, ”I’m sorry for dragging you into this!”

”We won’t die!” Huangfu Ziyu looked around, seeking a place to steady themselves. However, the cliff was surrounded by stones, offering no foothold, and their speed was accelerating. Besides, the cliff wasn’t very high, and eventually, they would reach the ground.

”Are we really going to die like this?” Huangfu Ziyu’s heart was somber, but looking at Ye Qing in front of her, she had little regret. For some reason, a sudden indescribable feeling welled up inside her. To die alongside this man, perhaps, that would be a happy thing.

As she was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt Ye Qing moving. Upon closer inspection, Ye Qing had somehow managed to hold her in his arms. Huangfu Ziyu’s face turned beet red, but instead of pushing Ye Qing away, she let him hold her. However, she soon realized something was wrong, for Ye Qing, holding her, was making an effort to turn over.

”What are you doing?” Huangfu Ziyu couldn’t help but exclaim, and by the time she finished speaking, Ye Qing had placed her on top of himself.

”I’ll cushion the fall underneath you, maybe… maybe you can survive…” Ye Qing replied softly.

Those simple words moistened Huangfu Ziyu’s eyes. She stared at Ye Qing for a long time before suddenly embracing him tightly and pressing her lips firmly against his.

This kiss left even Ye Qing dumbfounded; he had not anticipated such a thing happening. But feeling the warmth of the woman in his arms and her intoxicating fragrance, his blood boiled. In that moment, everything seemed to stand still, with just the two of them holding each other.

Although Huangfu Ziyu appeared to be very bold, in reality, she was quite conservative. Her greatest dream in life was to revitalize the Huangfu Family; she had never thought of being with any man. However, everything changed the moment she saw Ye Qing, from the moment she didn’t kill him upon their first meeting, everything changed!

Maybe, even she didn’t realize that deep down inside, she had fallen in love with him unknowingly.

The kiss wasn’t long, but for both of them, it felt like a lifetime. When they parted, Huangfu Ziyu could see the bottom of the cliff. Although the ground was muddy due to rain a few days prior and still damp, with their speed of descent, a crash would surely be fatal.

However, fortunately, near the bottom of the cliff, there were several large trees growing at the edge.

”There’s a chance!” Huangfu Ziyu stared closely at those trees. Ye Qing noticed what she was planning to do and said anxiously, ”What are you doing? With our speed, if you use your whip to wrap around that tree, your arms will be torn off!”

”Don’t talk!” Huangfu Ziyu held Ye Qing tight, clutching the long whip, and finally, when they neared the tree, she flung the whip with force, and it wound around the trunk of one of the trees.

Huangfu Ziyu clenched her teeth, fully aware that although this action could slow their descent, given their great speed, the force would be tremendous. Just as Ye Qing said, her arms might indeed be torn off.

As Huangfu Ziyu braced for the impact, suddenly, Ye Qing reached out and grabbed the whip in the middle. By doing this, he was closer to the source of the tension. Even if the whip were to bear the full force of their fall, it would hit him first, not Huangfu Ziyu.

By the time Huangfu Ziyu regained her senses, it was too late, and the two had fallen far enough. The long whip was about to snap taut, and there was no time for her to stop it.

”Have you gone mad?” Huangfu Ziyu couldn’t help but shout loudly, but by then, everything was already too late.

Just at this critical moment, a person emerged from the bottom of the cliff, hands pressed together in a prayer position, and suddenly pushed upwards with his palm. Both Huangfu Ziyu and Ye Qing felt a powerful force surge upwards, greatly slowing their descent. Right at that moment, when the long whip snapped taut with a crack, Ye Qing’s arm was yanked out of its socket. However, because the person below had absorbed some of the force, Ye Qing’s arm was not torn off, but merely dislocated, which was indeed a stroke of luck.

When the long whip tensed, they were less than five meters from the ground. With Ye Qing’s arm dislocated, it was impossible to hold onto the whip, and they fell directly to the ground. Furthermore, Ye Qing was beneath Huangfu Ziyu, landing directly on the ground. The pain in his arm combined with the force of the fall made him spit out blood and pass out immediately.

Since he was underneath, Huangfu Ziyu didn’t hit the ground head-on and was practically unhurt. However, seeing Ye Qing in such a state, she was stunned, scrambling up to help him and anxiously said, ”Ye Qing, Ye Qing, how are you? Are you alright? Don’t scare me like this.”

If anyone saw her, they would be utterly shocked. The East State Poisonous Mantis, who once disdained any man and whose true face had hardly been seen by a few, was now so concerned about a man’s life or death—it was simply unimaginable.

But Ye Qing had already fainted and despite how much Huangfu Ziyu called out to him, he wouldn’t wake up anytime soon.

As Huangfu Ziyu was fraught with anxiety, a giggling voice suddenly came from behind her: ”Amitabha, wanting to die is not that easy!”

Huangfu Ziyu turned her head to look and saw a strange-looking monk standing behind her at some point.

He was holding a cracked Buddhist bowl, a giggling smile on his face, and his monk robes looked as if they hadn’t been washed for a long time, exuding a sour smell. There were even a few wisps of hair on his bald head, as if he had forgotten to shave them off in front of a mirror. All in all, this person looked more like a beggar than a monk.

If Ye Qing were still conscious, he would have been quite shocked because this monk was the same one he had met in Jiuzhou County. The monk had predicted the fates of several people, even saying Old Fifth Yang wouldn’t last three years, nearly driving Old Fifth Yang to rage. And to think that after such a short time, he had arrived in the Eastern Province and appeared here by coincidence!

Only then did Huangfu Ziyu remember that when she and Ye Qing were falling just now, someone below had struck out with a palm that somehow reduced the speed of their descent. Could it have been this monk?

Huangfu Ziyu was a first-rank expert, and she was well aware only a master capable of releasing Inner Strength could have done that. However, typically, a master who could project their Inner Strength to a distance of one meter was already considered impressive. With Neijia Kung Fu, projecting Inner Strength was as difficult as reaching heaven—every increment was an entirely new realm. Extending the range of Inner Strength projection was extremely challenging.

Just now, when she and Ye Qing were about six or seven meters above the ground, the monk’s palm had reached that far, and with such complete power, it eased their descent. The most critical aspect was that while reducing their speed, the monk’s force didn’t injure them, which was beyond anyone’s imagination.

Inner Strength is, after all, a form of power that can be emitted to strike others. The greater the force emitted, the stronger the attack. Given that the monk’s strike reduced their falling speed, one could surmise that the force was definitely not weak. But the fact that they felt no pain upon impact, how could that be possible? Was that even humanly achievable?

Huangfu Ziyu stared at the monk for a while, then suddenly bent down to kneel on the ground, saying, ”Predecessor, please save him!”

”He’s not dead, what’s there to save?” The monk sat down on the ground beside them, giggling, and completely indifferent to the mud everywhere, indicating how his clothes got so dirty.

Huangfu Ziyu looked at the monk, then back at Ye Qing. Ye Qing had stopped spitting blood, and though his breathing was steady, it looked like there was indeed no danger to his life.

Just now, Huangfu Ziyu was overly anxious, which made her think Ye Qing was in danger. Now, after careful observation and seeing that he was alright, she finally took a breath of relief.

”Predecessor, thank you so much!” Huangfu Ziyu bowed again towards the monk.

The monk asked, ”Thank for what?”

”If it weren’t for the predecessor’s help just now, we might have... might have already fallen to our deaths...” Huangfu Ziyu spoke softly.

”Oh, that matter!” The monk suddenly leapt up, indignantly saying, ”I wanted to settle accounts with you! I was about to catch that rabbit, and then you two come crashing down, scaring it away. If it weren’t for my intervention, I might have been crushed to death along with you. Young people, there are better things to play with than jumping off cliffs. Can you afford to crush a monk to death?”
