Urban Martial Saint

Li Lianshan had been mingling in the underworld for so long, and the official with the best relationship with him was none other than Deputy Director Zhao Chengshuang. As for people like deputy department heads, he didn’t even dare to dream about that level, let alone have them converse with him.

Upon hearing Ye Qing’s introduction, Li Lianshan’s eyes immediately bulged.

A deputy department head? And he’s sworn brothers with Ye Qing? When did he climb the ranks so mightily?

Of course, what thrilled Li Lianshan even more was the excitement. He hurriedly scurried over to Chen Jia’an’s side, and with an awkward chuckle said, ”Chen, nice to meet you. I’m Ye Qing’s brother, my name is Li Lianshan. You probably don’t know this, but at the orphanage in Shenchuan City, a lot of things were handled by me. Moreover, I’m preparing to invest some money this time to help him upgrade the orphanage’s equipment!”

”Is that so? That’s very good!” Chen Jia’an nodded, looking at Li Lianshan approvingly.

Chen Jia’an’s expression made Li Lianshan even more excited as he began to chum up around Chen Jia’an. Of course, Chen Jia’an was no fool, and after a few casual words, he left. However, even so, Li Lianshan’s face beamed with excitement. No matter how you looked at it, he had at least become familiar!

”Damn it, you’re not being cool!” Li Lianshan came back chuckling and teased Ye Qing, ”You knew the guy was a deputy department head and you didn’t even give me a heads-up, I almost made a fool of myself!”

Ye Qing curled his lips and ignored Li Lianshan. He entrusted the situation here to Black Bear and then drove away from the police station.

After driving through two streets, Ye Qing stopped by the roadside and called Xiao Qing to ask if she knew where the Beggar King had gone.

In fact, Ye Qing had deliberately made an early emergency call tonight to let the Beggar King go on purpose, in order to find the person behind the Beggar King. However, he didn’t rush to track the Beggar King immediately because, firstly, he couldn’t find the man, and secondly, he knew he didn’t need to worry. He could tell that Huangfu Ziyu was also closely monitoring the Beggar King, so Xiao Qing should be quite clear about his whereabouts.

Just as Ye Qing had anticipated, Xiao Qing had been keeping a close eye on the Beggar King. When she received Ye Qing’s call, she directly informed him of the Beggar King’s current hiding spot.

The Beggar King had already left Tianhui City, now hiding in a small town called Tianheng County about thirty kilometers away from Tianhui City, which was also one of the Beggar King’s lairs. However, this town was too far from Tianhui City, so Chen Jia’an’s men hadn’t tracked him down there.

Upon obtaining the Beggar King’s location, Ye Qing immediately drove there. Following Xiao Qing’s directions, Ye Qing drove to a small town in Tianheng County and checked into a hotel. He then left the hotel on foot and walked along a small path to a tiny village about five kilometers outside the town.

This small village was developed as a wealthy area in Tianheng County, filled with small villas. The surroundings were very elegant, with a particularly good living environment. The Beggar King had bought a villa here, and not many people knew about it, making it very secretive.

However, it seemed that Xiao Qing mainly kept an eye on the Beggar King in Tianhui City. Therefore, she was very much aware of the Beggar King’s affairs, even the location of this villa was clear to her.

Ye Qing easily found the villa belonging to the Beggar King. There were two cars parked at the entrance of the villa, suggesting that the Beggar King was hiding inside.

Ye Qing didn’t alarm anyone and found a tree to climb, using its leaves to conceal his body. When he had been in the army, he often made such camouflage. Even if someone looked closely at the tree, they might not be able to spot him.

Ye Qing stayed put in the villa for a whole day, lying still on the tree trunk. It wasn’t until nightfall that the door to the Beggar King’s house finally opened, and seven or eight people came out, getting into the two cars and driving away from the villa.

Ye Qing had been waiting for them to come out. As he saw the two cars driving away, he immediately descended from the tree like a nimble cat. He caught up in a few strides, grabbed the rear frame of the following car, and silently clung to the car.

Ye Qing’s movements were light, the vehicle only shook slightly, and the people inside thought they had hit a rock or something, so they didn’t notice. In that manner, the two cars drove along the highway for about two hours before finally turning onto a side road.

The side road was full of potholes and lacked buildings, appearing quite desolate. However, it was open all around, making everything visible at a glance. Under such circumstances, any following cars would be immediately noticed. It seemed that the Beggar King was afraid of being followed and deliberately tried to shake off any tail.

However, he didn’t know that the person following him wasn’t in a car but clinging to theirs. They drove about five kilometers in this open space, only stopping at the foot of a hill.

The moment the vehicles stopped, Ye Qing quickly crouched down and crawled underneath the chassis. Fortunately, the chassis was high, and he didn’t feel cramped below, plus in the pitch darkness, no one could notice someone hiding under the vehicle.

All the people from both cars got off, and they wandered around as if looking for something. Finally, one couldn’t help but say, ”Boss, didn’t you say we’re meeting here? Why haven’t they come yet?”

”Don’t worry, if they said it’s here, then it’s definitely here!” Another cold voice sounded, which must have been the Beggar King.

They waited there for about half an hour until finally, a black SUV arrived. Everyone watched the incoming vehicle cautiously, fearful it wasn’t the person they were waiting for.

The vehicle came to a halt here, and several people exited from it. The leader, a tall man with an icy expression, turned out to be Xu Cunzhi.

Just as Ye Qing had anticipated, the person behind the Beggar King was indeed related to the one who killed Tie Yongwen!

Seeing Xu Cunzhi, the Beggar King immediately went up to greet him, saying, ”Big brother!”

”What happened?” Xu Cunzhi frowned deeply and said in a stern voice, ”You were doing quite well in Tianhui City, how did the police suddenly start targeting you? They managed to uproot you all in one go, how did they find out about your territories and strongholds in Tianhui City?”

”I have no idea,” the Beggar King said, frustrated, ”It’s like these cops knew everything about me. They surrounded us as soon as they made their move; we didn’t even have a chance to react or escape. Luckily, that Ye guy was too arrogant. He actually called the police first, so I got the message and managed to get out. Otherwise, I might not have been able to escape!”

”The Ye guy?” Xu Cunzhi furrowed his brows further and asked in a deep voice, ”Which Ye are you talking about?”

”It’s that Ye Qing from Shenchuan City!” the Beggar King said, ”I got the news that the cops the provincial office sent were all called in by him, just to deal with me. This bastard, it looks like he’s been plotting against me for a while!”

”Ye Qing?” Xu Cunzhi’s expression turned even colder as he said in a stern voice, ”He asked for police from the provincial office to target you, and then he called the police himself?”

”That’s right, it was all his doing!” the Beggar King said, ”He’s too full of himself, thinking that if he called the police, they could catch me. Hmph, he didn’t expect that the cops in Tianhui City have long been bought by me. How could they possibly come to arrest me? But precisely because he was so full of himself, I received the news and narrowly escaped disaster!”

”Wait a minute!” Xu Cunzhi said in a stern voice, ”You’re saying he requested the police from the provincial office to target you. That means, before this, those people from the provincial office weren’t investigating you at all. So, were all the places and strongholds of yours in Tianhui City handed over to the cops by Ye Qing?”

”That’s probably the case,” the Beggar King said.

”Is that so?” Xu Cunzhi’s face grew even colder as he said in a deep voice, ”How long has Ye Qing been in Shenchuan City? With all the things he’s been dealing with during this time in Shenchuan City, how could he have the time to target you? Besides, some of your places and strongholds are quite covert, and some have been established for many years. It’s impossible for anyone to expose all your strongholds in such a short time!”

”Ah?” The Beggar King was taken aback and said, ”What... What does that mean?”

Xu Cunzhi looked at the Beggar King and said slowly and heavily, ”It means someone is helping Ye.”

”Someone?” the Beggar King’s eyes widened as he asked anxiously, ”Who? Who is so bold as to meddle in my affairs!?”

”Hmph, if someone can meddle in your affairs, it means they have the means and the capability!” Xu Cunzhi said coldly, ”If I’m not mistaken, the person helping Ye Qing is almost certainly that remnant of the Huangfu Household!”

”The remnant of the Huangfu Household?” The Beggar King was startled and said, ”Big brother, are you talking about... Huangfu Ziyu?”

”Who else in Eastern Province could have such capability?” Xu Cunzhi said in a stern voice, ”When you first moved into Tianhui City, she was ready to drive you out. But in the end, she changed her mind because she wanted to make use of us too. However, with the way things have unfolded up to this point, the situation has completely changed. Now to her, you’re dispensable, so she’s passed along a favor to Ye Qing, helping him deal with you. Other than Huangfu Ziyu, who else could have such detailed knowledge of your operations and bases!”

”It’s her?” The Beggar King clenched his teeth in anger and said, ”That bitch, I’ll kill her!”

”You, don’t even think about fighting against her in your next life!” Xu Cunzhi glanced at the Beggar King coldly, then paused as his expression suddenly changed.

”Right, you mentioned that Ye Qing called the Tianhui City police to report an emergency, and that’s how you escaped?” Xu Cunzhi said urgently.

”Yes!” The Beggar King nodded and replied, ”This man is too arrogant, and also pretty stubborn. He thinks the police...”

Xu Cunzhi cut off the Beggar King’s words immediately and said in a stern voice, ”This is bad, very bad!”

”What’s so bad?” The Beggar King was puzzled.

”Ye Qing is no fool; he would never make such a rookie mistake. If he’s made this move, it means he definitely has another plan!” Xu Cunzhi looked at the Beggar King and continued in a serious tone, ”He deliberately let you go; he’s planning to catch a big fish with a long line!”
