Urban Martial Saint

Listening to the content on this cassette, both Ye Qing and Du Tianyi’s eyes blazed with fire, consumed by extreme rage. Now, they finally understood what had been happening; it turned out Ding Shaoyan had conspired with others ahead of time intentionally to frame Ye Qing.

”This method is not bad, but it seems hard to kill Tie Yongwen,” Ding Shaoyan said. ”A mere Ye Qing is already so difficult to deal with, let alone Tie Yongwen. Do you know what kind of strength Tie Yongwen has? You want to frame Ye Qing for this, how could that be possible? Anyone with clear eyes could see right through it, Tie Yongwen could definitely not be killed by Ye Qing; he just doesn’t have the strength!”

”If we can’t kill him openly, a hidden arrow is hard to guard against!” the man sneered. ”We just need to design a trap, killing him isn’t difficult at all. I’ve even had a huge iron net made specially; as long as we trap Tie Yongwen in it, no matter how powerful he is, he definitely won’t escape death!”

”Really? That’s great!” Ding Shaoyan was overjoyed and said, ”Okay, let’s do that. Kill Tie Yongwen and that traitor Ye Qing!”

”You can rest assured about that; once we successfully frame Ye Qing for killing Tie Yongwen, without even needing our hand, Xingyi School and your Ding family’s people will definitely not let Ye Qing off,” the man smiled. ”But the most crucial thing now is for Young Master Ding to help us record this audio and deceive Ye Qing first.”

”Alright, no problem, just tell me how!” Ding Shaoyan said straightforwardly.

The man said, ”You just need to say it as I have written here, pay attention to the timing of pauses to give Ye Qing a chance to speak. Otherwise, it might easily give us away.”

”But if Ye Qing asks me something, wouldn’t I be unable to respond?” Ding Shaoyan wondered.

The man replied, ”The script I’ve written doesn’t give Ye Qing a chance to ask questions. Just follow what I’ve written, and we’ll control the conversation. Ye Qing won’t have time to question you. Besides, hearing your voice, he’d never guess we’re just playing him a recording; it won’t be so easily exposed!”

”That’s good!” Ding Shaoyan’s voice was very excited; he held deep dissatisfaction towards both Ye Qing and Tie Yongwen, so he was eager to kill them both.

The voice from the cassette rustled for a while, then Ding Shaoyan’s chilly voice came again: ”Ye, do you remember who I am?”

After a brief pause, the voice continued: ”Ye, it’s been a long time since we met. Thanks to you, I almost lost my life. But since I didn’t die, we have plenty of time to play.”

The voices of Ding Shaoyan in the cassette continued, echoing exactly what he had said to Ye Qing over the phone last time. Du Tianyi and Ye Qing looked at each other, and with each sentence Ding Shaoyan spoke, rage filled their hearts, wishing they could kill Ding Shaoyan on the spot.

After listening to the content of the cassette, Du Tianyi immediately stood up and said in a deep voice, ”I’m going to find him!”

”You can’t just go like this!” Ye Qing stopped Du Tianyi and said sternly, ”Right now, Xingyi School and the Ding family all think I killed Uncle Tie, that I indirectly caused Elder Master Ding’s death. If we show up in front of them like this, it won’t even be our turn to speak; they will definitely fight us to the death!”

Du Tianyi nodded, thinking about how the people of Xingyi School, unwilling to listen, insisted on killing Ye Qing; what Ye Qing said was indeed true. Now, the people of Xingyi School and the Ding family would not listen to their explanations and would fight to the death upon meeting. It seemed that they could only find a way to make the people of Xingyi School and the Ding family listen to the content of the cassette first, then they would no longer fight to the death with Ye Qing and Du Tianyi!

Ye Qing contacted Zhao Chengshuang, handed over the cassette to him, effectively alerting the police, and left the matter for the police to handle. Zhao Chengshuang, after listening to the cassette, couldn’t help but be overjoyed and said, ”Ye Zi, this time, you can finally prove your innocence. Hmph, I really want to see how Xingyi School and the Ding family’s people will face you now!”

”The most crucial thing is to catch Ding Shaoyan first; we absolutely can’t let him escape!” Ye Qing said deeply. Ding Shaoyan was regarded as indirectly responsible for Tie Yongwen’s death, and Ye Qing was determined to seek revenge.

”Don’t worry, leave it to me!” Zhao Chengshuang packed away the cassette, looked at Ye Qing, and said, ”I heard that Li Wenyuan died and Shangguan Tian went mad, is that true?”

Ye Qing nodded, and Zhao Chengshuang, with a face full of astonishment, stared at Ye Qing for a long time before finally saying in a trembling voice, ”Damn, how did you manage it? Both of those people were so powerful, how many men do you have under your command to pull this off in one night?”

”All their underlings were lured away, leaving only a few people behind, so dealing with them isn’t difficult!” Ye Qing said.

”Even with few people, what you did tonight was pretty badass!” Zhao Chengshuang gave Ye Qing a thumbs up and said, ”Li Wenyuan is dead, Shangguan Tian has gone mad. It looks like both the Fubang and Tianqing Gang are going to fragment just like the Fierce Tiger Gang did. These two had quite a few loyal followers in the gangs, these people will definitely continue to oppose you, you need to be careful about that.”

Ye Qing nodded. In fact, after the Tianqing Gang and Fubang collapsed, he didn’t have that much to worry about anymore.

Zhao Chengshuang said excitedly, ”But luckily, you have Liu Changping and Zhou Bolong backing you up. Even those officials who support the Tianqing Gang and Fubang in secret wouldn’t dare do anything to you. And with both gangs gone, starting today, you and Old Li are the biggest power in Shenchuan City. You both should take this opportunity to grab more territory and recruit more people, then you’ll become the unchallenged rulers of Shenchuan City!”

Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”I’m not interested in those things, the best I can do is earn more money for those kids.”

Du Tianyi said, ”Director Zhao, you’re a cop, how can you encourage such underworld activities?”

”You can’t say it like that, yes, I’m a police officer, and logically, I shouldn’t wish for any underworld activities to occur. But without these underground forces, the security of any place would only be worse,” Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Take the simplest example, the Tianqing Gang, Fubang, and Fierce Tiger Gang, when combined, have almost two to three thousand followers. These followers lack sufficient livelihood skills, mostly are lazy and lack legal concepts. They earn a living by working for the gangs to secure their livelihood. But once the gangs are gone, how would they make money? They are used to luxurious lives, and basically are hooligans without any legal concepts. When they run out of money, what do you think they will resort to for money?”

Du Tianyi frowned, admitting the logic in Zhao Chengshuang’s words. Although the three gangs were involved in underworld activities, they indeed provided a livelihood for the hooligans, preventing many more criminal incidents.

”If they can’t make money the usual ways, they’ll turn to scams and robberies. In Shenchuan City, the frequency of robbery cases is very low. But if out of those two to three thousand, just a few hundred took to theft and robbery, then the public security of Shenchuan City would completely collapse!” Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Of course, I know the existence of gangs is wrong, but it depends on the person, right? I know Ye Zi very well. He runs a nightclub, but he is not involved in gangs, yellow business, or drugs, which is considered a very clean business. If these people could be under the control of Ye Zi, it would actually be better for them. Just look at Da Fei and Mad Dog, they used to be street rascals, but after following Ye Zi, now they start looking after children in the orphanage, this is real change!”

Zhao Chengshuang continued, looked toward Ye Qing, and said, ”I have great respect for Ye Zi in this regard. As they say, guiding others toward good is the hardest, but the followers that Ye Zi brings out, all change a lot. Damn, not to mention others, just take myself for example, what I was before and what I am now, this is change. That’s why I think, Ye Zi should become the biggest boss of the underground forces in Shenchuan City, to improve the public security here!”

Du Tianyi, persuaded by Zhao Chengshuang, also looked at Ye Qing.

Ye Qing shrugged his shoulders and said, ”Actually, the best situation would be having no underworld at all.”

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Of course, but the key is to focus on gradual progress. Right now, the most important thing is for you and Old Li to join hands and gather as many of those idle people under your command as possible, controlling the situation in Shenchuan City. Doing this would also contribute to the public security of Shenchuan City and ensure your position here, making sure no one would dare trouble you again. If you really secure your footing, not to mention other things, your orphanage can continue to operate smoothly too!”

Ye Qing was pleased with these words, he nodded, agreeing with Zhao Chengshuang.

Seeing Ye Qing nod, Zhao Chengshuang was overjoyed and said, ”Then it’s settled, I’ll call Old Li right now and have him prepare to start dominating Shenchuan City!”

”Old Brother Li must be quite happy about this!” Du Tianyi remarked with a smile.

”Definitely!” Zhao Chengshuang said, ”This guy, his biggest wish is to make a name for himself in Shenchuan City. This time, through a stroke of luck, he’s about to dominate Shenchuan City, how could he not be happy?”

Zhao Chengshuang said this and called Li Lianshan, explaining the matter to him.

As expected, upon hearing Zhao Chengshuang’s words, Li Lianshan immediately began to shout excitedly, clamoring to meet with them to discuss how to absorb the Tianqing Gang and Fubang’s followers under his command.

”Don’t rush now, it’s almost dawn, go back and rest first, we’ll meet tomorrow and talk more!” Zhao Chengshuang hung up the phone, laughing, ”This guy, hearing he’s going to be the boss, almost burst his lungs laughing!”
