The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu smiled and said, ”No, we have other matters to attend to.”

”Is the county magistrate here on official business in the southwest?” Kang Shuxian asked, suddenly recalling something, ”Is it concerning the letter we sent to Qiao Rou before the New Year? So that dark...I mean, is there really one here as well?”

Shu Yu’s eyes flickered when she heard her proactively bring up the matter of the letter.

She shook her head, ”No, we came here to find my master, it’s purely coincidental.”

”I see,” Kang Shuxian nodded.

She wanted to say more, but He Fang had already walked up to them.

She hurriedly paid her respects to Shu Yu, ”Greetings, county magistrate, I didn’t expect to see you here again.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”You all seem to be doing well.”

He Fang nodded repeatedly, ”It’s all thanks to you, county magistrate. By the way, we live nearby, would the county magistrate like to come to our house? I’m sure the other sisters would be delighted to see you.”

Before Shu Yu could respond, Kang Shuxian interjected, ”The county magistrate has other matters to attend to and can’t make it, but we can let the other sisters know later.”

He Fang frowned, ”But since you’ve come all this way, and you’re such a benefactor to us, it’s simply improper not to host you.”

”But we also shouldn’t delay the county magistrate’s important business,” Kang Shuxian considered, ”How about we go over there and buy some local specialties from Qingxuan County as a token of our appreciation?”

”What use is the local specialty? The county magistrate has surely had it before.”

Shu Yu watched them discussing back and forth with a smile on her lips, then spoke when the conversation was almost over, ”Thank you for your kindness, I truly must be leaving now. We’ll have a chance to meet again in the future.”

Kang Shuxian dug through her belongings and immediately produced a pouch, ”County magistrate, since you have business to attend, it’s not right for us to hold you back. But we will never forget your kindness to us. I don’t have much on me, but I made this pouch myself, please take it.”

Shu Yu accepted it, ”Thank you.”

He Fang felt a little embarrassed, ”County magistrate, I didn’t bring anything with me, but...should you ever need my help, don’t hesitate to ask, I won’t refuse. Earlier, Shuxian mentioned you’re here to find your master, we’ve been in Qingxuan County for a year, maybe we’ve come across them. Let us know and we can help.”

Kang Shuxian’s eyes brightened, nodding repeatedly, ”Yes, yes.”

Shu Yu shook her head, ”No need, my master left me an address, it’s better to wait at the location rather than look aimlessly.”

”But...”

Shu Yu waved her hand, ”That’s settled then, goodbye.”

She finished speaking and got onto the carriage, He Fang still wanted to say something, but Kang Shuxian was already waving goodbye, ”Take care, county magistrate. If there’s another chance, come again, we’ll surely give you a proper welcome.”

Shu Yu nodded, lowered the curtain, and the carriage slowly moved forward.

Even as it traveled far, Kang Shuxian and He Fang stood watching from a distance.

Shu Yu handed the pouch to Zhao Xi, who took it, sniffed, and shook his head, ”There’s no issue,” but he still advised Shu Yu not to keep it on her person.

The appearance of these two was too coincidental, too curious. Not to say both had problems, but surely one wasn’t right.

The three didn’t discuss this in the carriage, instead, they reopened the box to let Wei Qin get some air.
