The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Quan unfolded the note with some trepidation. After seeing the words on it, his expression was conflicted for a moment. He clenched his teeth and gripped the note tightly.

The note contained only a few lines—Shu Yu told Shu Quan that she had already read the letter he sent to the capital. She understood his intentions, and once everything was done, he would be credited with merit, helping the second branch to escape their current predicament. Now, she needed information on Shu Feng’s unusual activities during this period. He should write it all down and find an opportunity to openly deliver it to the Fang Family in the evening.

Shu Quan repeatedly looked at the words ’credited with merit’ on the note, muttering softly, ”At this point, I’ll trust you this time.”

There was no other choice but to believe.

He burned the note in his hand, then looked around the room and could only find a rough piece of paper. He laid it on the table and wrote down Shu Feng’s recent status with a charcoal pencil.

Shu Yu and the others returned to the Fang Family. Aunt Fang and Father Fang were preparing dinner, and Ying Xi was helping out. Father Fang had gone to the mountain earlier today and hunted some game. Coupled with the meat, wine, and dishes that Shu Yu and her group brought, they put together a table full of delectable dishes.

Father Fang sighed, ”Aside from Ayue’s wedding, it’s rare to have such a feast like today.”

Even though the Fang Family’s life had improved, having a big fish or meat was still a rarity.

Meng Yunzheng poured him some wine, ”This is what we brought from our hometown, please try it, Uncle Fang.”

”Good, good.” Father Fang drank two sips happily, his eyes lit up, ”Good wine.”

Aunt Fang shook her head helplessly, ignoring them, just asking Shu Yu, ”How long are you staying here?”

”I’m not sure yet. We came to find my master, but she’s been out for the past couple of days and I don’t know when she’ll be back. I’m planning to wait until her business is done, then head over to see the situation in Linzhang Prefecture. Aunt knows I’m doing business now and I want to see if the prefecture is suitable for opening a shop to sell our family’s goods.”

If suitable, she would naturally stay for a while. If not, she might return sooner.

Aunt Fang calculated in her mind, thinking that they would at least stay in the southwest for ten days to half a month.

”Alright, then you take care of your business, and drop by the house when you have time.”

”Okay.”

Just as they were exchanging pleasantries, a familiar voice suddenly came from outside, ”Wen’an County Lord, Wen’an County Lord, come out...”

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance and were silent for a moment, ”It sounds like the voice of the Second Madam of the Shu family.”

”Let’s go, see what’s happening.”

They went out the door. Aunt Fang saw Shu Quan and Second Madam standing at the entrance, frowning unhappily, and asked, ”What are you doing here? Making such a ruckus outside, aren’t you afraid we’ll go to Steward Yu?”

Hearing Steward Yu, Second Madam felt a bit fearful.

It was Shu Quan who gave her a pull, and she straightened her chest slightly, saying, ”I... I’m here to find Wen’an County Lord. I have business with her; how would that be disturbing.”

Standing on the steps, Shu Yu looked down at them, ”Business with me? I’ve got nothing to do with your Shu family anymore.”

”You may have nothing to do with us anymore, but that Madam Hou’s... daughter is still a Shu family member, right? Oh, she’s married and enjoying life in the capital, and now she doesn’t acknowledge her father? This would be quite shameful if word gets out.”

Shu Yu narrowed her eyes, ”What exactly are you trying to say?”
