The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu entered the manor and found that it seemed to have changed a bit as well, as if it had been repaired again, and now looked much nicer.

”Yu?” Just as Shu Yu was looking around, a familiar voice sounded behind her.

She turned around and sure enough saw Aunt Fang, still wearing an apron and not even having had the time to put down the rolling pin in her hand.

”It’s, it’s really you? I thought I’d heard wrong.” Aunt Fang hurriedly ran over to her in a few quick steps. ”You, when did you get here, how did you end up in Righteous Dao Village?”

”It’s a long story. I came here for some business and took the chance to come see you all. Auntie, have you been well lately? Xiyue’s child should have been born by now, right?” Shu Yu had always been in correspondence with Fang Xiyue. When she received the last letter, Xiyue had just said she was already pregnant. Counting the days, the child should be three or four months old now.

”Good, good, good, thanks to you, everyone is doing well. Ayue has given birth, it’s a boy, and he looks especially like Ma Lu.” Aunt Fang looked Shu Yu up and down. ”We haven’t seen each other for a few years, and you’ve gotten prettier and prettier. Oh right, Ayue received your wedding invitation, you’re married now, aren’t you?”

Shu Yu then introduced Meng Yunzheng to her. ”Yes, this is my husband.”

Aunt Fang’s eyes lit up when she saw him. This young man was really too handsome, and standing next to Shu Yu, they truly were a talented man and a beautiful woman.

She heard he was a scholar and wondered if he had taken this year’s provincial exam and how he had done.

But Aunt Fang, after all, wasn’t familiar with Meng Yunzheng, so it wouldn’t be proper to ask too much. She only greeted him politely.

Then she looked toward Zhao Xi behind them. A few years ago, he had lived in the village as Shu Yu’s elder brother and had even cured Father Fang’s injury, so the Fang Family was very grateful to him.

Later, when Shu Yu returned to Dongan Province and wrote again, she explained that this Young Master Zhao was not actually her older brother, he had only stayed here to help take care of the family, and now he was already her brother-in-law.

”This subordinate greets Wen’an County Lord.” As they were chatting, a strange voice came from behind.

The few of them turned back and saw a somewhat thin man standing there, hands raised in a cupped-fist salute toward Shu Yu.

Aunt Fang slapped her forehead suddenly. Right, she had forgotten—Yu was now a county magistrate.

She hurriedly moved to follow suit and salute, but Shu Yu supported her hand at the side and only said, ”No need to be so formal.”

Steward Yu straightened up, a puzzled look on his face. ”I don’t know what important matter has brought County Magistrate from so far away. If there is anything this subordinate can help with, please just give the word.”

”I’m here for some private business. Coming to Righteous Dao Village is just to visit some old friends. Steward Yu, you don’t need to mind me, it’s just that tonight I’ll probably need to borrow a place to stay in the manor for one night.”

Steward Yu smiled and said, ”So that’s how it is. County Magistrate, please stay as you wish. I’ll have a few rooms prepared at once.”

With that, he glanced at Aunt Fang and went on with a smile, ”Since County Magistrate is here to catch up with old friends, I won’t disturb you further. County Magistrate, please make yourself at home.”

”Mm.”

Shu Yu nodded slightly, and Steward Yu then left. Before he went, he told Aunt Fang she could have a day off.

Aunt Fang was overjoyed. She put the apron on her body and the rolling pin in her hand back in the kitchen, then ran out again. ”Yu, come sit at our house for a while. Ayue is at home. If she sees you, she will definitely be very happy.”

”All right.”

The few of them left the manor and followed Aunt Fang toward the Fang Family’s home.

The carriage was temporarily left at the manor, with someone watching over it for them.
