The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Meng Yunzheng followed her gaze forward and saw a young woman carrying a basket walking into a nearby shop.

They hadn’t seen this woman before, but the face was very familiar to Meng Yunzheng.

”Is that... Ms. Wei?” Meng Yunzheng and Shu Yu exchanged glances.

Meng Yunzheng had drawn this face many times, there were several portraits at home, and Little Song Le would take out the portrait daily to look at it, wanting to imprint his mother’s likeness deeply in his mind.

But why was Ms. Wei here?

This place was far, far away from Huajiang Prefecture where she disappeared.

Hearing Meng Yunzheng’s words, Shu Yu confirmed that she hadn’t mistaken; this person truly was Ms. Wei, Little Song Le’s missing mother.

”Didn’t Zhao Xi previously find out that Ms. Wei was last seen disappearing at the dock? Those who saw her said she intended to head north, but she might have boarded the wrong boat?”

Beside them, Zhao Xi nodded immediately, ”Yes, that’s the information I gathered. So Ms. Wei did board a boat going south, and ended up here in the southwest?”

The group was a bit stunned; they had exhausted every means with no leads, only to stumble upon her like this.

”So, should we go up and confirm?” Zhao Xi looked at the two and asked, although they thought it was Ms. Wei, without confirmation from her, it wasn’t certain.

Meng Yunzheng pondered for a moment, then shook his head, ”We still have important matters in the southwest, and we’re being watched, better not to cause more trouble and drag her into it. It’s not too late to find her once our business here is done.”

Now knowing she was here in the southwest, and judging by her appearance, she seemed to be a servant in someone’s household.

Earlier when she entered the shop, the staff inside immediately took the basket from her as if they were familiar, so even if she didn’t live here, she was acquainted with the staff in the shop. If they tried to find her later on, they wouldn’t be completely clueless.

Upon hearing Meng Yunzheng say this, Zhao Xi nodded, and the group passed by the shop nonchalantly, catching a glimpse of Ms. Wei going into the shop’s backyard from the corner of their eyes.

They continued strolling around the county town until dusk, then returned to their lodging at the Fulu Inn.

The person secretly watching them frowned but found it normal; after all, it was only the first day, it wasn’t surprising that they didn’t meet with Qi Lie.

However, on the second day, there were still no anomalies; they went out in the morning for a stroll, occasionally inquiring about the whereabouts of the Dongqing Temple master, as if they truly were here to find her. In the afternoon, they just sat in the inn’s downstairs lobby, watching the coming and going of guests.

This situation made the person watching them suspect that Qi Lie might disguise himself as a guest entering the inn, paying special attention to the people going in and out.

However, nothing happened.

On the third day, the situation was the same.

The person watching couldn’t figure out what they were up to. If they wanted to meet Qi Lie, he hadn’t seen them contact anyone.

If they were looking for the black market’s location, there was no pattern to it.

What he didn’t know was that on the third night, the group did not dine in the lobby.

Shu Yu found the outside too noisy and asked the inn staff to bring the dishes inside.

As soon as the staff entered the room, everyone inside started moving; Xia Yan and Ying Xi stood by the door, listening for any movements outside.

Zhao Xi took the dishes from the staff and placed them aside.

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng sat by the table, giving the central position to the staff member.
