Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 242: Chapter 225: Luo Shufan’s Parents Were Summoned

”What? Really?” Luo Qianqian had just arrived home when she heard the shocking news. She had planned to visit the observatory after school, only to find out that Luo Shufan hadn’t come home yet. Upon further inquiry, she learned that Elder Zhang had called the parents and even asked Bai Yizhu to take Xiao Yu and Luo Qianqian to play first.

”Really, I was stunned when I got the call.” Bai Yizhu pulled up the call log, and Luo Qianqian checked the number three times to confirm it was her brother’s number. She then asked, puzzled, ”He hasn’t been kidnapped, has he?”

”No.” He Wenyu changed into his clothes, ”On my way home, I saw your mother entering the gate of Experimental High School.”

”Then it’s fine, let’s go.” Luo Qianqian, hearing that her mom had gone to the school, didn’t care as much, changed her clothes in her room, and left the house with Bai Yizhu.

”Huh, your brother didn’t come?” Gu Yanzhi looked quite surprised at the trio of Luo Qianqian.

”Why don’t you think this is my brother?” Luo Qianqian pointed at Bai Yizhu with displeasure.

Gu Yanzhi firmly shook his head, ”I’ve seen your brother a few times when he came to pick you up, and he wasn’t this... burly.”

”Exactly, burly,” Bai Yizhu nodded in agreement, somewhat pleased.

”Whatever, my brother had some issues, let’s go play first.” Seeing that it was getting dark, Luo Qianqian couldn’t wait to enter the observatory. The observatory wasn’t usually crowded on regular days, and most people now were there for the half-month-long meteorite exhibition and the peculiar technique of star-gazing projection.

Luo Qianqian truly believed in the magical Vastness of Time of the universe. If it weren’t magical, where would rebirth come from? Or the present her? Although she didn’t know how she had died in her previous life, she vaguely remembered there was a once-in-a-millennium meteor shower during those days.

”Qianqian, look at this stone, it’s so beautiful.” He Wenyu pointed at a stone inside the display case. Luo Qianqian followed the sound and was stunned—how could there be such a stone? It was red without a single impurity, just like the Red Jade itself.

”Heart of the Night Sky? The name is quite evocative,” Luo Qianqian chuckled. If the heart of the night sky had fallen, would there still be a night?

”They even have a section on naming newly discovered planets here, if I discovered one, I would name it Qiongyu Star,” He Wenyu said proudly, ”If Zhuzi were to...”

”Then it would be called Tiezhu Star,” Bai Yizhu said nonchalantly, not really thinking he’d get such an opportunity.

”Ouyang Tiezhu, Huangfu Tiezhu, Murong Tiezhu—such a strong pastoral vibe,” Luo Qianqian mercilessly teased.

Bai Yizhu rolled his eyes and walked away to look at something else, arguing with Luo Qianqian was always stomach-aching; he shouldn’t have surprised them with spices in their food...

”Qianqian, if you discovered a star, what would you name it?” Chu Ci asked softly.

”May Brother’s Matters Go Smoothly Star,” Luo Qianqian joked casually.

”It must be good to be your brother,” Chu Ci chuckled softly.

”Being my sister-in-law wouldn’t be bad either,” Luo Qianqian said with a playful and cheeky grin.

”It’s about time, shall we head up?” He Wenyu checked the time; it was eight o’clock.

”Let’s go,” Bai Yizhu wasn’t much interested in what these young girls liked, he was here merely to look after Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu.

”The stars are truly beautiful,” Luo Qianqian said, looking up at the sky without a telescope.

”There isn’t much fog today, and the weather is pretty good,” Gu Yanzhi said with a smile, ”It’s probably celebrating the end of our exams.”

”It’s to celebrate Qianqian leaving you behind again,” Qiao Xiyang chuckled lightly, pulling out his camera. After a while, he frowned, as he could hardly see anything through the camera.

”Exactly, still behind Qianqian, it’s pretty much decided,” Yang Weizhuang agreed, ”By the way, what do the Luo family eat to grow up? Have their brains been altered by aliens or what?”

”You’re just jealous of me, or is this a compliment? I’m not going to bother myself over it,” Luo Qianqian said softly, staring at the twinkling stars, the night sky full of them, just not knowing which one was her guardian star.

But even after everyone returned home, Luo Shufan did not go to the planetarium.

Luo Qianqian frowned and called Luo Shufan, but got a busy signal. After a moment’s pause, she called her mother but no one answered. She could only call Lin Xu, who did answer.

”Uncle, my brother and mom haven’t come home yet... What?... I’ll be right there.”

Luo Qianqian hung up the phone with a chilling expression, ”To the police station, let’s go.”

Bai Yizhu was stunned, and He Wenyu was baffled too.

They soon arrived at the police station, where An Zilan sat in the mediation room with tear-stained cheeks. Luo Shufan had a scratch on his face. Opposite them sat a haughty middle-aged woman and a girl in a school uniform, her head constantly bowed.

”Mom,” Luo Qianqian passed over a tissue, ”Stop crying. Uncle Lin would be heartbroken.”

Then she stood in front of her brother, looking at the wound on his face, ”We need to get you a tetanus and rabies vaccine later.”

Luo Shufan paused and then nodded.

”My brother’s child?” Luo Qianqian stood in front of the girl in the school uniform, ”Repeat my brother’s name, age, family address, and hobbies.”

The girl hesitated and then began to cry.

The middle-aged woman rushed up to Luo Qianqian, ”What are you doing?”

”Isn’t it my brother’s child? By the way, I am his alibi. The First Middle School’s surveillance can testify for us. How many months are you? The exact time? Any prenatal testing? Do you have the lab report?” Luo Qianqian sneered, dismissing the possibility of her brother having the time, much less being interested in a girl reeking of perfume.

”We’ve already checked the surveillance, and the blood was drawn just now. The results will be out shortly,” said the female police officer softly.

”Take her to the hospital for an abortion, I’ll pay for the abortion,” Luo Qianqian said coldly.

”So if she gets an abortion, that solves everything? My daughter is still a virgin...”

”Esteemed lady, I wasn’t finished.” Luo Qianqian paused and continued with a faint smile, ”The aborted fetus will have a paternity test with my brother and your pure and innocent Hao Family’s daughter. If it is my brother’s, we can discuss it, but if not, it’ll be charges of assault, defamation, false reporting, oh and let’s not forget my brother’s medical expenses, my mother’s emotional distress fees, lost wages, nutrition fees since they haven’t eaten, and yes, if my brother’s scars can’t fully heal, also the cost for cosmetic surgery!”

”Paternity test?” Luo Shufan suddenly lit up, realizing there was another strategy.

An Zilan was dumbstruck, thinking that his son had done something wrong and repeatedly apologizing, only to find his daughter firmly standing by his son’s side, believing in his innocence.

’Smack’—Luo Qianqian was slapped across the face, the middle-aged woman’s hand still raised high, ”Slippery mouth, a bastard from a family that can’t control its lower half, what good can come from their home?”

”And your daughter, who ’set her sights’ on my brother making him happy to be a father, she is something good? Let’s have the paternity test then when the baby is born, though I fear you might not have the face to confront us with such arrogance then,” Luo Qianqian said, holding her face while Bai Yizhu took her side, glaring at the middle-aged woman.

The girl in the school uniform kept her head low, crying silently, her shoulders trembling.

”Ten weeks pregnant, baby is healthy,” said the policewoman, looking at the report in her hand, but her eyes growing increasingly strange.

”Ten weeks? Isn’t that convenient? It was during the summer break, can you pinpoint the exact day? I’ll get the alibi evidence,” Luo Qianqian said with a provocative smile, staring down the mother and daughter.

The middle-aged woman was about to react when Bai Yizhu stopped her, and Luo Shufan coldly said, ”Then let’s just have the baby and carry out the paternity test to see if I could really be interested in just anyone.”
