Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 234: Chapter 217: Plans Don’t Change as Fast as Heaven and Hell Are Essentially the Same (Part 1)

”My admission letter has come.” Lin Jiayou held the express delivery with a face full of surprise. Luo Shufan really was professional, managing to get accepted by that university by a hair’s breadth, right on the lowest cutoff.

”Congratulations, bro.” Luo Shufan smiled gently, not surprised at all. This experiment gave him even more confidence in his own applications.

”Brother Jiayou is treating us to dinner; I want the barbecue from that place on the street, and ten chicken wings.” Luo Qianqian took out her phone, about to call mom and Uncle Lin, but then she thought better of it and put the phone down, deciding to let the family know in person instead.

”Right, let’s invite dad and auntie over tonight.” Lin Jiayou nodded, his face all smiles.

”You should make the call to invite them, but you’ll have to spend a bit more; godmother’s family and Zhuzi too, since Big Brother Bai isn’t around, Zhuzi must be feeling lonely.” Luo Qianqian squinted her eyes, her face brimming with craftiness.

”Just call another table of people; I’ve got it covered!” Lin Jiayou declared grandly.

”Oh yeah.” Luo Qianqian revealed a sly smile.

”Bro, aren’t you inviting your sister-in-law?” Luo Shufan asked softly, watching his sister who had already started hopping downstairs.

Lin Jiayou shook his head: ”Let’s just keep it to family today; we’ll include her when her results come out.”

”So that’s going to be the admission feast where you formally get the family’s blessings, isn’t it?” Luo Shufan said with a teasing smile.

Lin Jiayou shrugged helplessly: ”It depends on her, but it’s not as formal as it is with you guys; meeting the parents becomes a bigger deal.”

”So, what you mean is to have her meet us privately?” Luo Shufan grinned lecherously.

”Has your competition result come out yet? Instead of worrying about me, you might want to check on your own contest.” Lin Jiayou said helplessly, looking at Luo Shufan’s gossip-hungry face.

”That’s no big deal, just routine stuff,” Luo Shufan said nonchalantly, pulling out his phone: ”Are we going to a restaurant, or shall we listen to Qianqian and go for the barbecue?”

”Let’s get some barbecue to take there. With so many elders, eating at a street stall seems a bit off. Let’s go to Big Brother Bai’s place, we can get a discount there,” Lin Jiayou calculated with a smile.

”Give it up, everything is on the house at Big Brother Bai’s place,” Luo Shufan said disapprovingly and then smirked, ”Go big or go home; save your admission feast for then. It’s about time he paid up for neglecting Zhuzi for so long; he needs to be reminded that we’re still around.”

”Makes sense.” Luo Qianqian nodded vigorously at her brother’s words: ”Xiao Yu said she’d call godfather and godmother later, there’s still time, no rush.”

”Bro, you go call dad.” Luo Shufan winked, ”I’ll go tell Zhuzi.”

”Bro, acting cute is shameful, especially when you’re not cute at all.” Luo Qianqian mimicked Luo Shufan’s expression, blinking cutely and even blowing a kiss.

”Luo Qianqian, come over here, let’s talk, talk about your last essay, when did you ’break a bone’?” Luo Shufan said, pointing at a certificate displayed on the shoe cabinet, his face chillingly somber.

Luo Qianqian was momentarily at a loss for words; it was indeed the final of the essay competition that ”Apple Teacher” had her enter. That morning, it seemed Luo Shufan had irritated her, and she had let off some steam.

Watching Luo Shufan with a face full of eagerness, ”Brother, look, it’s not just one brother I have, there’s cousin and Brother Jiayou...”

”Yeah, not just one, come on, swear on the chicken wings tonight, you’re saying it wasn’t me?” Luo Shufan pulled out a collection of middle school student essays, pointing at each description, ”Tell me, if words like ’mom’s tears’ aren’t about your real brother, does that mean next time I’ll just die in your essay?”

”Brother, to be frank, even if I wrote you dead, the teacher wouldn’t believe it, since you still pretend to be dead picking me up from school every day. And, art imitates life but transcends it, so it’s not called dying, it’s called moving on... I was wrong, brother, you’re so cool, adorably cool.” Watching Luo Shufan’s bulging eyes, Luo Qianqian shamelessly changed her tone.

”Shufan, Qianqian, dad said we’re going out for pizza tonight.” Lin Jiayou’s face was full of disbelief, ”When did my dad become so trendy? Didn’t he used to say it was just vegetables on a pancake?

”Brother Jiayou, that’s enough, would you really be happy if he actually served you a vegetable pancake? Shouldn’t you be happy that Uncle is staying young at heart?” Luo Qianqian said with disdain, ”But if it’s pizza, I won’t bring chicken wings. There are both roasted and fried chicken wings there.”

”As long as you like it,” Lin Jiayou said, relieved, seeing the smile on Luo Qianqian’s face.

”Brother, what are you talking about? This is your celebration, and what you like is what matters most.” Luo Shufan argued, amused at the joy on Luo Qianqian’s face, as if she wasn’t usually allowed to eat like this. Despite always insisting on refusing junk food.

”I like it, isn’t this what we young people enjoy?” Lin Jiayou shook his head, looking at the siblings, ”Contrarily, you don’t act like young people at all, always studying health preservation. You little middle schoolers carry tea, usually drink pure milk, insist on healthy breakfasts, and have stew or yogurt for late-night snacks. I really wonder if you’re old eccentrics from the last century.” Lin Jiayou counted on his fingers the habits of the siblings, ”And eating barbecue only once a month, saying it’s bad for health and always pairing meat and vegetables, are you even young people?”

”That’s why we’re in good shape,” Luo Qianqian proudly stepped onto the home scale.

”Enough,” Luo Shufan picked Luo Qianqian off the scale and stood on it himself, ”I have someone watching over me, and though my weight isn’t light, I still appear slim. My sister says this is called ’lean with muscles,’ the best kind of figure.”

”Enough, I said you look slim in clothing but have muscles without it, but brother, you actually have abs now?” Luo Qianqian stared at her brother’s lifted tee shirt observing his abs arranged like neatly placed pork ribs, swallowed sharply.

”What do you mean, ’actually’? I run daily and also practice my reaction times.” He mused silently, a slow reaction could lead to death in Bai Yizhu’s teachings with nowhere to argue your case.

”Not bad, keep this figure, and your future sister-in-law is definitely going to be gorgeous, haha.” Luo Qianqian almost drooled at the figure before her.

”You’re looking too far ahead, haven’t you seen Brother Jiayou’s figure...” She suddenly stopped talking mid-sentence.

Lin Jiayou had pulled him along to train because of his dream to join the military academy, which he eventually gave up on.

Luo Qianqian noted her brother’s expression and saw Lin Jiayou’s nostalgic face. Quickly reacting, she laughed off, ”Comparing with Brother Jiayou? Wouldn’t that be a crushing defeat in minutes?”

”Qianqian, where are we eating tonight?” He Wenyu ended his call, walked upstairs, and seeing the awkward atmosphere in the room, was also somewhat taken aback.

Luo Qianqian lifted He Wenyu’s chin, a smile on her face, ”Discussing whether my brother would be crushed or do the crushing.”

He Wenyu’s face instantly lit up, ”If it’s with someone like Zhuzi, definitely the one getting crushed.”

”Put away the sleazy thoughts in your head... I’m talking about my brother fighting Brother Jiayou...” Luo Qianqian quickly corrected herself, seeing Luo Shufan’s displeased expression, ”My brother’s ensuring the legacy.”

He Wenyu saw Luo Shufan clenching his fists and immediately reacted, ”I meant the fighting, didn’t you see Zhuzi’s muscles, wow, just so solid.”
