Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 223: Chapter 207: Things Have Gone Awry

”Is there a bit too many people inside?” Bai Yixian was taken aback as he observed the number of individuals emerging from the factory, his expression turning unsightly. Weren’t there supposed to be only a few dozen people? At a glance, there seems to be at least a hundred, right?

Bai Yizhu’s face darkened as well, slightly biting his lower lip as he looked at the number of people inside: ”With the little money Wang Wei has, it’s impossible for him to hire so many people.”

”Wang Wei’s money? He still has money?” Luo Qianqian was startled. After Wang Wei’s father was arrested, where would he still have any financial sources?

”He sold his family’s house and car, along with his father’s savings. Even hiring a second-rate gang was somewhat of a struggle, so how could he have so many people?” Bai Yizhu huffed: ”Had I known, I would have taken everything he had, never thought he could escape.”

”So what’s the situation now?” Luo Qianqian was unclear about the circumstances, but it seemed like there were a lot more people inside the house than outside, which appeared to be a bad sign.

”I’ll call some people.” Bai Yizhu took out his phone, but was stopped by Bai Yixian.

”Calling people over now is too late, I’m afraid there are people behind this, but what is their purpose?” Bai Yixian frowned.

”Wang Wei!” Luo Qianqian pointed at a slim figure who seemed to be injured, barely visible in the dim light with an arm seemingly suspended.

”This little bastard!” Bai Yizhu cursed and descended the tree, walking towards the factory.

”What use is it for you to go there?” Bai Yixian coldly halted Bai Yizhu.

Bai Yizhu frowned: ”What’s the use of waiting here? Isn’t it the same thing, just standing and watching?”

”Stay put and observe the changes. They haven’t made a move over there; what do you expect to do by going?” Bai Yixian turned his head away from Bai Yizhu and carefully watched the factory from afar. However, the distance was too great; faces were indiscernible, let alone voices, which couldn’t carry over at all.

”Brother, if we just go back home safely, I promise I’ll study hard and never cause trouble again. I’ll tolerate whatever others say about me.” Luo Qianqian held onto her brother’s hand, trembling slightly as she nestled into Luo Shufan’s embrace and whispered. She wondered if none of this would have happened if she hadn’t confronted Wang Wei in the first place, perhaps that’s true. Her tone was full of self-blame, and Bai Yixian’s injury wouldn’t have happened either, right?

Luo Shufan stroked his sister’s head without speaking, tightening his grip on her hand and looking towards the factory with a determined gaze, certain that everything would be okay.

”You’ve been wronged, your brother won’t just put up with it either. He too would pick a fight; what happened today was bound to occur sooner or later,” Lin Jiayou, sensing something off in Luo Qianqian’s voice, turned back and found tears shimmering in her eyes under the moonlight.

Is that so? Luo Qianqian looked at Lin Jiayou doubtfully.

”It’s him!” Bai Yixian suddenly exclaimed, pointing to a person halfway up the hillside, his expression fluctuating: ”Tie Zhu, take them and leave quickly, this place isn’t safe to stay for long.”

”Finally found you, Boss guessed it right.” As the voice spoke, Bai Yixian saw the person on the hillside glance at him, seemingly smiling—no, he was certain, it was definitely a smile.

Bai Yizhu had already reached the bottom of the tree, and seeing a few men with iron rods frowned: ”Who are you guys?”

”It’s none of your business who we are, but you will have to come with us now,” declared the young leader with a cigarette in his mouth, exuding a reckless demeanor, his clothes were flashy, but his face was clean-shaven and appeared well-groomed every day, his hair precisely styled, not matching his outward appearance. Moreover, he was holding a model of a new smartphone. A low-level thug in such a small town has such a high-end gadget?

Luo Qianqian lowered her head, thought for a moment, then fished something out from her person, hiding it within her sleeve.

Afterwards, she burrowed into Luo Shufan’s embrace, sobbing, while Luo Shufan stoically comforted his sister.

”Brother, these people must be from Capital City,” Luo Qianqian whispered to Luo Shufan amidst the sobs, ”They mean no good.”

Luo Shufan was taken aback, and then took a closer look at the newcomers. However, his gaze met with theirs and, feeling the piercing sharpness in their eyes, a chill ran down his spine, and he held his sister tighter in his arms.

”My people are down there. I’ll go with you; just let these innocent people go,” Bai Yixian said calmly as he leapt down from the tree. Immediately, the newcomers raised their weapons, looking wary.

”Innocent people?” The leader snorted disdainfully, ”And let them go call the police?”

Bai Yixian’s heart sank completely. It was indeed the worst-case scenario—these people weren’t after him, specifically.

”It would be quite troublesome for you to capture all of us, wouldn’t it? Why not do me a favor and let them leave first? Everyone here, except me, is a student who has classes tomorrow,” Bai Yixian said with a smile still on his face, but his half-closed eyes were assessing the firepower of the newcomers.

”Since they dared come here to watch the excitement, I suppose they don’t care about skipping classes. Our boss said to invite you all to be our guests, and you will be sent home when the time comes,” the newcomer said, squinting his eyes, and touching something at his waist, revealing a revolver. This caused Bai Yixian’s face to turn completely dark.

”Which path do you tread? This is Huaxia!”

”If I dare to take action, naturally I have backing from above. There’s no need for Big Brother Bai to trouble himself. Better come with us quickly; otherwise, if these delicate skins and tender flesh get hurt and something bad happens, that would make it hard for me to explain,” the man said.

Luo Qianqian looked towards the factory direction only to find that everyone had entered without resistance.

Who was supporting Wang Wei from behind? Or was it someone targeting her? Who had she offended? Could it be from Capital City... perhaps, Xu Xiaoxiao?

Yet, that didn’t seem right. She had a good relationship with Xu Tianyi, and Old Master Xu didn’t seem like someone who would allow his descendants to misbehave; it couldn’t be her. But among the people she knew and had also offended, who could be connected to Capital City, she really couldn’t think of any.

Lin Jiayou leapt down from the tree and stood guard next to Bai Yixian. Bai Yixian was wounded and he couldn’t just stand by and watch him get involved without doing anything.

In Luo Shufan’s arms, Luo Qianqian, who was whimpering, saw that the message had been sent, then deleted it, and made a call directly to Zhang Ye. It was a mobile phone call, but in the silent night, the dial tone was distinctly audible.

”Oh, I didn’t notice you there. You were making a call? Hand over all your phones, or else, I’ll start shooting.” As he spoke, the leader pulled out the item at his waist. Luo Qianqian was shocked, and her phone slipped from her hand, falling to the ground where the screen went dark, looking as if it was broken.

A young man stepped forward, checked it, and then kicked it aside: ”Really can’t take a fall.”

”Alright, come down quickly, don’t make this difficult for me.”

Bai Yizhu reached out to catch Luo Qianqian as she jumped down, and Luo Shufan slid down the tree himself. The five of them stood together, facing the newcomers.

Luo Qianqian, holding Bai Yixian’s hand, looked terrified and was shaking, about to cry, clinging tightly to Bai Yixian’s side.

Bai Yixian was stunned, then chuckled, squeezing Luo Qianqian’s hand, ”Let’s go with them. Put away that thing. If it goes off by accident and brings the cops, that’s not something you would want to see.”

Bai Yizhu, Lin Jiayou, and even Luo Shufan were astonished. There were only seven or eight of them, and they weren’t undefeatable; why was he agreeing to this?
