The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 429: Chapter 429- The Big News

[A creation that is manifested through your ideals and vision. It is the voice of the unknown, so clear that reality bends to hear it.]

”The power that you unlocked is precisely that thread of truth. How powerful that power will become will entirely depend on the way you use and strengthen it.”

Little by little, Kevin felt as if the dark clouds looming within his mind were clearing.

That’s right, what was he so worried about? Since it popped up in his status, it was one of his powers. In fact, he should be happy that he got a stat that no one else does.

To not meddle with the boy’s destiny, Reinhardt did not reveal too much. His words were only meant to clear the doubts plaguing him.

After Kevin excused himself, he continued to glance in the direction the squire had disappeared.

Back then, at the underground vault, he had already noticed Kevin materializing a new stat and the dragon heart inside his body. Since then, he knew that the other party would come seeking clarity.

While he did say it was the power the boy unlocked, what he didn’t tell the latter was the fact that there was once a race that used the power of Aether. However, that existed even before the Advent of the Demon and the Era of the Gods.

A timeline that was now completely shrouded in mystery.

If not for the [Heaven’s Memory] or Kevin unlocking it, even he would be unaware of it.

The continent of Valdonia, Tainted Lands, the Great Labyrinths, Shelters, Arcanists... and now the race that used the power of Aether. It looked like another reason had been added to his list of why he needed to traverse the Tainted Lands.

.

The Temple of Light continued to stay in the capital for the next few days. The reason for that was simple: with the demonic miasma plaguing the capital resolved, the crown announced the start of the Magic Knight Entrance Exam for this year.

As it was an extremely important event related to the prestige and power of the kingdom, the entire country was excited about it.

One could see it in the streets and air of the capital, the festivity that was in the atmosphere.

”I can’t believe it has already been more than a year since we joined the Order of the Temple of Light. Last time we participated in the exam as candidates, this time we will be standing there as squires and seniors. Hehe, it feels like a dream,” Kevin gave a silly laugh.

At this moment, the squad was casually strolling around the market of the capital. With too much time on their hands, they decided to explore the market.

And so, after roaming numerous streets, their steps unwittingly brought them toward the coliseum.

”Don’t get a big head, brat. With how famous the Temple of Light is, I’m sure we are going to have some excellent talent this year. If you are not diligent, the new recruits will surpass you in no time,” Vangeance grinned, making fun of his junior.

”As if you are one to talk. If you don’t hurry up and level up soon, the squires you look down on will catch up to you,” Silvia added, pulling his head out of the clouds.

”Anyways, this year’s Magic Entrance Exam is going to be different from all the previous years.”

”What do you mean?”

Seeing their clueless looks, Silvia sighed.

”Do you guys not pay attention to your surroundings? In these past few days, didn’t you find it weird how many knight orders and their commanders had visited our base?”

Now that she mentioned it, it was indeed the case. For the past few days, many knight orders visited their commander.

”Still, that alone isn’t enough to explain the change in the exam all of a sudden.”

”It’s not all of a sudden. Recall what happened the last time in the Magic Knight Entrance Exam and the recent invasion of demons in the kingdom of Aetherion. Additionally, there was also the incident of demonic items in the royal vault going out of control a few days ago.”

”Given how the demonic activity has increased in the past year, the ordinary masses are afraid. I’m sure the crown is thinking of some way to address this issue. And what better way than the Magic Knight Entrance Exam?” Silvia explained.

While she did manage to piece together quite a lot of information, even she wasn’t fully clear as to what the crown was planning.

”In any case, it is going to be big. Prepare yourselves for some huge revelation.”

Just like she mentioned, waiting for them back in the base was Reinhardt with big news.

With only three days left for the Magic Knight Entrance Exam, the crown finally solidified its plans.

”So there you have it, to appease the masses and to show them that the knights are still strong and capable of protecting the kingdom, we Knight Commanders have been asked to participate in a group battle to showcase our strength and skills.”

Like a bomb being dropped, his words hit the members of the Temple of Light like an explosion.

Just like Silvia, many of the high ranking knights and holy knights here had their own deductions as to what was going on. However, even in their wildest imagination, they didn’t think that the crown would come up with such a plan.

After all, this was the Knight Commanders they were talking about. Forces so powerful that even natural phenomena like earthquakes and tornadoes looked tame before them.

Yet the crown wanted them to fight? This was unprecedented.

Looking at the lost and shocked faces of his teammates, Reinhardt continued.

”This is the crown’s order, and given the situation of the world, I think it is a good decision.”

Knights in this world not only represented power and valor, but they were the last bastion, the protectors of humanity.
