The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 425: Chapter 425- New Stat?!!

Crimson lightning wrecked the place as the two energies tried to exert dominance on the other.

In the end, it was the vines and the demonic energy that managed to wrestle out a win. The mushrooms and moss continuously devoured the demonic energy until the Abyssal Compass was completely entangled by the vines like a cradle.

Finally, the demonic treasure was completely sealed.

With the source producing the demonic energy gone, the other demonic treasures in the vault also lost their power and fell to the ground powerlessly. The knights quickly placed them back in their seals and locked them away for good.

And so, just like this, the disturbance plaguing the capital was resolved.

.

.

”Ungh.”

When he opened his eyes, an unfamiliar ceiling greeted him. Pain, extreme pain, shot through his body, and he felt like his throat; no, his entire body, was burning for some reason.

”What’s... going on? Where am I?”

Kevin looked around absentmindedly. Extravagant and fancy things decorated the room, giving it a luxurious ambience.

At this moment, the door to the room was pushed open, and a girl he was much too familiar with entered with a maid in tow.

”Oh? Seems like the future young master is awake,” the maid spoke. Her words, which were phrased weirdly, caused Gwen next to her to blush red with embarrassment.

”M-Martha, I told you not to call him that,” the latter protested fiercely.

”Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing the young miss. Let me check on him now,” saying that, the maid stepped closer to him and checked his temperature.

”Hmm, seems like you still have a fever. Can you get up?”

Kevin nodded and tried to move his body. However, the pain and powerlessness in his body made it impossible.

”Don’t push yourself; let me help you,” Gwen arrived by his side to help him.

”Where... am I?” His memories were so hazy that he could not remember anything.

”You are in the Odessa’s estate,” the maid replied.

As it turns out, he was in Gwen’s place.

”Don’t you remember anything?”

Kevin tried hard to recall. However, when he tried to think hard, a splitting headache assaulted him.

”That’s right... my sword... where is my sword?!”

”Don’t worry, it’s right here,” Gwen pointed at the large crimson heavy sword kept in one corner of the room. She knew how important the sword was to him, which is why she kept it in a place where he could see it.

”I see.”

The boy sighed in relief after seeing the sword with his own eyes.

”Gwen, can you tell me what happened? Why am I like this?”

”You don’t know what happened?”

Kevin shook his head. Gwen furrowed her brows and told him everything that had happened since the moment they entered the vault.

”I defeated a Demonified Knight by myself?”

He made the same stunned face that everyone did after hearing about his actions.

Just like she thought, that mysterious appearance of his was something that even Kevin himself wasn’t aware of.

”Now, now, young miss. Let the future young master rest. He has only come to consciousness now, so he might need some time to think about some stuff by himself. You can talk to him after he recovers some more.”

Saying that, the maid took the fiercely blushing Gwen away with her.

Now all alone in the room, Kevin contemplated the words Gwen told him. And little by little, the haziness in his memories started to disappear.

Of course, he still didn’t recall the part where he fought the demonified knight or when he was in that mysterious limbo. All he had recollection of was [Tiamat] suddenly dragging him toward the titanic bones inside that mysterious cavern and the subsequent pain that hit him after the bones turned into glowing crimson gold liquid.

”Did you do this, [Tiamat]?”

The sword did not answer.

”Did you know this would happen?”

It was silent again.

It was not that [Tiamat] could not speak, but that it chose to stay silent.

”Fine, stay silent if you want to. However, can you tell me one thing? Where did my master go? You must know something, right? After all, she was your previous wielder.”

Finally, the sword hummed, and a voice rang inside his head.

[She has... fulfilled her own purpose. Don’t worry. If you continue to get stronger, you can meet her one day].

”Purpose... Are you saying that it was her plan to find me and pass down the sword?”

[Well... let’s say that’s how it is.]

[Tiamat]’s voice sounded strangely evasive, as if she was trying to avoid the topic.

”Anyways, memories of what happened back then should return to you soon. Don’t think that everything that happened to you was some coincidence or a dream. It was all a predetermined destiny since the moment you were born. You need to focus on your dragon heart and nurture it in the future. It is the only way you can save this world.”

Having finished saying its piece, the sword turned into dead metal again. No matter what he tried to ask or probe, it never responded again.

Not because it was ignoring him, but probably because it had expended too much energy talking to him, that it went into a slumber.

Still... his master... purpose... dragon heart... predetermined destiny... It spoke so many complex things that it was difficult for Kevin to take it all in at once.

Soon, drowsiness took hold of him, and he went to sleep again.

.

The next day, the boy was back to his usual energetic self.

”I can’t believe it! The priest from the Divine Radiance said that it might take him over a month to recover,” the maid gasped in shock.

The boy, who couldn’t even move from his bed up until yesterday, was now jumping up and down on it, almost as if he had never been injured.

”Don’t fret about it, Miss Martha. You cannot judge idiots with common sense,” Gwen commented from the side, arms crossed in front of her chest.
