The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 417: Chapter 417- Forming The Dragon Heart

From its body, Kevin’s eyes went toward its head. Two eyes, each the size of a full moon, opened slowly. Within their depths, he could see a power that blazed with the intensity of a sun.

The weight of that gaze alone was crushing. Ancient. Infinite. Those vertical pupils did not just look at you; they were looking through your soul.

Was it just him? But it looked like those eyes were focusing on him right now.

Then, as if to prove he was right, those eyes moved.

At that very instant, Kevin felt a terrifying and extreme pressure engulf him, rooting him in his place.

The creature moved, opening its mouth that was bigger than a mouth. Rows and rows of sharp fangs glimmered with a light so incisive that it felt like it could tear through anything.

In front of that oppressive power, the very crimson world began to collapse. And before he could muster even a single thought, it devoured him whole.

The world turned dark with only the faint echo of the squire’s heartbeat still sounding in this empty world.

BADUMP... BADUMP... BADUMP...

.

Outside, a transformative change had started occurring inside Kevin’s body. After going through numerous cycles of destruction and creation, they were stronger and far more resilient than before.

However, calling it simply strong would be an understatement; after all, the new body that was being remade had faint signs of not being human anymore.

The veins that had formed inside his body were now of a faint golden color, channeling the molten volcano like blood all around his body.

His bones and skeleton turned faint crimson, able to handle heat much better now and more durable than even steel. His frame had deviated a little with extra bones growing at his forehead, shoulder blades, and tailbone.

Nevertheless, as the changes were still in their pupa stage, it was still within the realm of humans.

New muscles covered his skeleton, glowing with red and golden light that pulsed with new life, breathing in blood energy instead of oxygen.

His skin no longer felt like skin; it cracked, flaked, and peeled like cooling magma, revealing a faint metallic sheen beneath.

That’s not all. Beneath his flesh, the abundant molten crimson liquid pooled together before condensing itself and weaving into the form of patterns and countless inscriptions of an unknown, ancient language.

They snaked across every inch of his body and skin. They weren’t simply markings. They were seals, storing power beyond what the current him could handle. Each pulsed and meandered like a mighty creature.

Kevin, who was in the state of limbo, could no longer tell if he was burning alive or being reborn. Perhaps both were true.

[...]

Suddenly, within that semi consciousness, he felt like something that was sleeping deep within him was waking up. A power that was both foreign yet familiar. It resonated with the deepest recesses of his being.

”I have... been... waiting for you... True....”

”Tiamat... must... but... forgotten... power. You... must... meet... continent...”

Call it the remaining consciousness or will that remained within the power that now flowed within him, but he could hear the power trying to communicate with him.

However, because it had been eons since it had been alive, its voice broke up, making it impossible to fully understand.

As if it did not have any more time remaining, the voice or the will to say disappeared. Kevin finally had some peace of mind, or so he thought.

However, at that moment, as if to tell him that he could not relax, another voice rang out. This time, it was [Tiamat].

”This is the time... form your dragon heart.”

At that very second, he felt like he who was having a lucid dream was suddenly doused awake. His mind trembled, and he began to do what was asked of him. Forming a dragon heart.

Usually, he would question those things that made no sense to him. However, at this moment, he just instinctively knew what to do.

BADUMP...

A heartbeat, violent like the rumbling of thunder, sounded out, deep and impactful. That said, it did not come from his heart; no, it came from another source further right of his human one.

The volcano like blood red energy that had invaded his body, had at some point formed a new organ in his body. A tiny new organ, oddly shaped, now beat on the right side of his chest, right behind his ribcage.

The sound was coming from this heart.

Following the heartbeat, which had a faint roar of a mighty creature, all of the blood red pool surrounding his body outside was sucked into his heart.

Within seconds, all the blood that was enough to fill an entire lake was gone.

BADUMP... BADUMP...

At the same time, his new heart also stopped beating and instead glowed with a faint, deep crimson and gold light.

Following the disappearance of the blood red pool, his body also fell on the ground.

BAM...

The stone floor cracked, and a large depression formed on the ground. More than a human’s fall, it looked more like a block of iron was dropped from the air. That was how heavily he hit the ground.

”Kevin!!” Gwen cried out and immediately rushed towards him.

Rolan and Delicia followed next. With the ancient pressure rooting them in their place gone, the squires could finally move again.

The girl tried to shake his body awake. However, it was as if Kevin could not hear them; his body was unresponsive.

”He is not waking up?”

”Let me check?”

Rolan stepped forward and tried to grab the boy’s hand, but the moment he touched it, he reflexively pulled his hand away. Heat seared his finger.

”Argh, dammit, his body is burning hot.”

While it was not visible through his clothes, Kevin’s body was burning so hot that it was actually no different than touching lava.

Even at this moment, the process of searing and melting was still going on inside his body.
