The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 419: Chapter 419- Squad Vs The Demonified Knight

As foolish as that dream seemed, she knew that if it was Kevin, he would definitely run headfirst to his goal without looking back. That was how he was. He might have been a commoner, a boy with no mana, but at some unknown point in time, he became her friend.

And now, seeing him in this state, it was naturally hard for Gwen to believe it.

”We got through numerous trials together. He can’t just die like this! H-Have you forgotten about the promise you made me?”

A tear streaked down her cheeks and fell on the boy’s clothes.

In the Kingdom of Rune, after learning about her circumstances and goal, the boy smilingly made a foolish promise to her. Yet before he could even see through it...

”Don’t make empty promises if you can’t keep them.”

DRIP... DRIP... Unable to hold herself any longer, tears streaked down her cheeks like raindrops.

”Gwen,” Delicia and Rolan comforted her.

They too were also in disbelief. Just a few moments ago, the boy was alive and all boisterous in front of them. Yet the next moment, things turned grave.

Nobody here could imagine that. The squad was devastated; however, they did not have the leisure to break down as an ominous presence suddenly caused the entire chamber to turn dark.

Demonic energy infiltrated the place in droves, dimming the glow of the luminous fungi and mushrooms.

STEP... And then it came, footsteps that pounded in their hearts like drums.

ROARR...

A deeply unsettling roar sounded out, and a figure half covered in darkness stepped towards them.
Decked out in rusty armor, the figure looked human at a glance. However, one would be sorely mistaken if one thought that.

With glowing red eyes, two horns protruding out of its helmet, and wings protruding out of its back, the being was anything but human.

The being was a demonified knight. What’s more, given the pressure it released, it was no low ranking false knight but a mid ranking true knight.

”A demonified knight!!” Delicia called out and hurriedly unsheathed her sword.

”It must have gotten here from the hole we made in the wall earlier. Shit, what bad timing,” Rolan cussed. Not only was their exit blocked, but one of their friend was downed.

What’s more, another one... he glanced towards Gwen; it didn’t seem like the latter was in the state to fight right now.

It was only him and sister Delicia, two squires against a True Knight. The situation could not be any worse.

BANG... Just as those thoughts arrived in his mind, the demonified knight flared its aura and made its move. It came charging at them, its speed ridiculously fast.

Rolan clenched his teeth and went forward to intercept the demonified knight. However, the latter maneuvered around him, slipping past easily and rushing towards the backline.

”Shit! Protect the Bloomkeeper, it’s after the holy beast.”

Rolan hurriedly cried out and gave chase. It appeared that the target of this demonified knight was the stag that released the holy aura.

Perhaps it saw that they were not its match and went directly for the holy beast that released the holy aura their kind despised. Or maybe it was simply abhorred by its natural enemy.

Whatever the case was, he could not let the demonified knight reach the Bloomkeeper. It was their mission to protect it.

Delicia stood in front of the demonified knight and crossed swords with the latter.

CLANG...

Sparks burst out, and the ground ran with cracks.
The enemy used the sword techniques they learned while their body was alive, and she countered with the sword technique she learned in the Temple of Light- [Holy Blade Arts].

As she had tons of experience being a former knight and all, the enemy was unable to slip past her using feints. However, since her stats were much lower than a body that was previously a level 6 true knight, she was pushed into a disadvantage.

Delicia was blown back, and the path to the Bloomkeeper was open. Low tier summoning, as the beast that took care of the forests of the gods, the holy beast did not have any attack or defensive abilities.

That is to say, it was completely powerless. Rolan, in his last ditch efforts, even threw his sword at his enemy, a foreign technique he learned after seeing the holy knight Grey use it.

CLANG... The sword that was directed at the demonified knight’s legs in an attempt to stop it was easily intercepted. [One with the Sword], a transcendent technique that was truly annoying to face.

Rolan grit his teeth. He was helpless to stop the enemy’s sword that now cleaved toward the Bloomkeeper.

Just when it seemed like a disaster was inevitable, a figure covered in water jets appeared in the path of the demonified knight at superhuman speed and intercepted its attacks.

CLANG... A ripple spread through the air followed by a small shockwave. Two swords clashed, one belonging to the enemy while the other, its wielder, was none other than Gwen.

As the fastest swordsman out of the lot, she was able to react at the nick of time before the demonified knight reached the Bloomkeeper.

Sparks burst forth, and Gwen’s sword was slowly pushed back. Nevertheless, instead of backing down, she glared black at the crimson glowing eyes of the enemy. Her own eyes moist with tears, but held a determined glint.

Thanks to Gwen buying them a few seconds, the other squires were able to catch up. They surrounded the demonified knight and protected the Bloomkeeper.

CLANG...

Losing that exchange, Gwen used her movement skill to surf through the water to open a distance. Immediately, Rolan and Delicia arrived to support her.

”Are you alright?”

The girl nodded her head. While she did not show any emotion, the two were still unconvinced.

Still, this was not the time to mourn. The enemy was right in front of them and it was after the Bloomkeeper. No matter what, they cannot fail the mission given by the commander.
