King of the Wilderness

After two more days of intense work, two gigantic, perfect triangular gables finally rose from the ground at both ends of the house!

At the top of the gables, they left a sturdy V-shaped notch for installing the ridge beam.

Once the gables were completed, they would face the most challenging and ceremonial part of the entire construction process: hoisting the ridge beam.

Old George pointed to the tree king, which had already been singled out by Lin Yu’an, measuring thirteen meters long and with the largest diameter, and said to everyone, ”Alright, young folks! Today we’ll hold the ’coronation ceremony’ for this house!”

This time, the hoisting height exceeded seven meters, and the loader’s mechanical arm could no longer reach directly.

They spent an entire morning studying the blueprints and built a scaffold tower assembled from logs, constructing a complex hoisting system composed of multiple pulley groups and winches.

In the afternoon, Lin Yu’an operated the loader to first lift one end of the ridge beam and rest it on the scaffold.

Then, Stan and Cody operated two gasoline winches to slowly and synchronously lift the gigantic ”Dragon Bone” upward through the pulley groups.

Below, Old George, Hank, and Barton used three guide ropes from different directions to control its balance.

With the perfect cooperation of six people, the gigantic ridge beam traced a graceful arc in the air before finally landing with a ”thump” into the V-shaped notch at the top of the gable!

”Yeah—!!!”

Everyone burst into a thunderous cheer!

”Alright, guys, the main framework is done! Next, we’ll start working on the ’finishing touches’ to make this house beautiful!”

The finishing touches referred to constructing the large porch spanning the front of the main house, the second-floor balcony, and all the doors and windows.

Lin Yu’an and Old George took out the blueprints and, on the solid platform, marked the precise placements for eight supporting pillars using ink lines.

They precisely erected the eight massive log pillars on the platform.

Lin Yu’an had already ordered triple-pane vacuum glass windows and solid wood insulation doors meeting Alaska’s highest insulation standards.

They first removed the temporary wooden frames used to secure the openings, revealing reserved openings with ”lock slots.”

Then they placed the window frames into the openings, using a level and wooden wedges to adjust them to be perfectly vertical and horizontal.

Finally, they filled the settlement spaces at the top with high-elasticity insulation cotton and sealed them with extendable decorative wooden strips.

It took them an entire day to professionally install all sixteen windows and three doors in the house.

Two days later, when the porch and balcony railings were also installed, the wood cabin’s exterior finally perfectly matched the renderings for the first time!

It was no longer just a square wooden box but a wood cabin full of layers!

Once the doors and windows were installed, and the porch and balcony were completed.

They began centering on the ridge beam, laying one rafter after another at a fixed angle, forming a steep A-shaped roof frame.

After completing the roof frame, it entered the final capping stage.

They first laid a thick layer of tongue-and-groove planks on all the rafters as the base layer of the roof.

Then, they began the entire roof insulation and waterproofing process.

They carefully laid a self-adhesive polymer waterproof roll on top of all the tongue-and-groove planks and welded all seams with a hot air gun to form the first seamless waterproof layer.

Then they erected purlins, forming small grids.

Next was the insulation stage. Lin Yu’an didn’t use traditional foam boards or fiberglass cotton but instead brought out more professional equipment, a set of dual-component closed-cell spray polyurethane foam systems!

”What’s this? Chemical weapons?”

David looked curiously at the two large pressure tanks filled with different colored liquids and a uniquely shaped spray gun.

”Far more powerful than chemical weapons.”

Lin Yu’an laughed, wearing a one-piece protective suit and professional full-face gas mask.

”This is the ultimate armor for the roof, its insulation effect is more than twice that of the same thickness of foam boards, and it forms a completely seamless sealing layer, preventing any cold air infiltration.”

He activated the air compressor connected to the pressure tanks and began spraying the gaps between the rafters with the spray gun.

”Hiss—”

Accompanied by a slight airflow sound, the two liquids mixed at the nozzle, and upon spraying, underwent a magical chemical reaction.

The light yellow liquid foam rapidly expanded like freshly whipped cream; the volume increased twenty to thirty times in seconds, perfectly filling all irregular gaps between the rafters.

Lin Yu’an covered the entire underside of the roof with a layer of fifteen-centimeter-thick, even, rigid foam from one end to the other.

A few hours later, when the foam was fully cured, the interior of the entire roof had become a seamless, pale yellow space.

Then everyone first fixed rows of wooden strips on the already insulated and waterproof roof at precise intervals.

Then, they began installing the dark gray corrugated metal roof panels, which had already arrived.
