King of the Wilderness

He folded the corners of the plastic sheet, wrapping the body and all traces of blood tightly within, like packing a giant garbage bag.

Then, he dragged the hefty package out of the cabin and tossed it into the trunk of Emily’s Subaru Outback.

Lin Yu’an was originally an atheist, but after experiencing rebirth, he began to have some trust in such things.

He decided to say something to the motorcycle man.

”Bro, I don’t even know your name. Although I’m sorry for you, I can’t go to jail yet. The law probably won’t give you an explanation.”

”So I can only apologize. Perhaps after I die, God will help you get your responsibility back. He might not let me into heaven as punishment.”

”I hope this makes you feel a little better, even though I don’t believe in God.”

He returned to the house and glanced at Emily, who was still slumped on the floor in a daze.

”Get up.” His voice remained cold.

”Clean this place up, leave no trace, and then come with me to dispose of this thing.”

Emily looked at the empty living room and then at the large hole under the fireplace, her body feeling like it had fallen into an Abyss!

She knew that from the moment she pulled the trigger, she was irrevocably tied to that man who was as calm and powerful as a Demon.

The house was soon cleaned up by the two of them, leaving almost no trace of the violent struggle except for the large hole under the fireplace.

Emily, now in clean clothes, sat on the sofa, looking at him with a complex expression.

”Stop staring, let’s go. One last thing left to do.” Lin Yu’an said calmly.

He drove the Subaru Outback with Emily towards the upper reaches of the Koyukuk River.

They needed to find a place remote enough, with waters turbulent enough.

After driving for more than ten kilometers, he found an ideal spot.

It was a steep gorge where the river roared through the rocks, creating a deafening noise.

He stopped the car and first dragged the wrapped corpse out of the vehicle.

He used thick chains to bind some rocks tightly with the body.

Then dragged this extremely heavy package to the edge of the rushing river.

”Emily, go push him in.” Lin Yu’an then turned on his phone camera.

With Emily’s forceful push, a loud splash followed as the package was instantly engulfed by the raging waters, sinking into the dark depths of the river.

Under the river’s powerful current, it wouldn’t be long before all traces here would be erased.

As for the motorcycle man’s bike, Lin Yu’an figured it best to leave it in the space for now, to find an opportunity to sink it into the sea later.

After doing all this, he and Emily returned to the cabin.

Lin Yu’an took out the metal box, placed it on the coffee table, and pried it open in front of Emily using tools.

Inside, quietly lay a compact, military-grade encrypted solid-state drive.

”The private key is inside.” Emily said in a soft voice.

Lin Yu’an nodded, pocketing the drive.

”Now, let’s talk about our matters.” Lin Yu’an sat across from her.

”First, everything that happened today stops here. The man was just a motorcyclist who disappeared on the Dalton Highway. We have nothing to do with him, right?”

Emily nodded.

”Second, the contents of this drive now belong to me.”

”Because you almost killed me, this is something I deserve! You have no objections, right?”

Emily shook her head again.

”Good, just now when handling the motorcycle man, some blood got on my clothes.”

”Let me use your bathroom. Blood from the dead is unlucky, I need to wash it off.”

Lin Yu’an stood up and walked toward the bathroom; his figure remained straight, but there was a slight heaviness in his steps.

Emily watched him enter the bathroom and listened to the sound of the shower water spraying. Her vacant gaze gradually regained a hint of spirit.

She knew she had to do something to break this deadlock and change her position in this man’s mind.

From a troublesome witness to a valuable ally, or even... more.

Emily was smart. She clearly understood that if she couldn’t provide anything valuable apart from the 300 Bitcoins,

She would likely live in constant fear! Afraid of being silenced by this man one day! So she had to offer more!

But aside from that unsolved map... she had nothing else of value.

She opened the Chinese search engine and searched for what Chinese men value besides money.

Fishing, bracelets, cars, computers, phones, Hatsune Miku... The more Emily looked at these results, the more confused she felt.

Finally, she saw a reliable answer, Chinese men, besides money, value family, children, wives, commitments, and women they’ve had relations with. My name is Wang Jingzhe. On the day I was born, the fortune teller... (sourced from Bi Qi website)

Emily seemed to have found her answer.

In the bathroom, steam was rising.

Lin Yu’an stood under the shower, scalding hot water enveloping his body, trying to dispel the unique discomfort that comes after taking a life.

He closed his eyes, his mind replaying everything that had just happened, from the speeding motorbike to the fight, and finally that last punch.
