The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 289: Chapter 288: An Encounter on the Road

Seeing that Ding Yuejun agreed, Qin Aimin was very happy.

”Boss Ding, let’s finalize it this way. I’ll go back now and have our director draft the contract. Once we sign, we’ll start discussing the costume designs.”

”Okay.”

Ding Yuejun nodded with a smile.

After Qin Aimin left, Ding Yuejun didn’t stay idle. Instead, she began sketching ancient costume designs based on her ideas. After working for a while, she realized it was getting late. She greeted the store employees and hurried to the market.

Today, her daughter and Fei Erya were both at home, so she needed to buy more groceries and prepare a good meal for them.

Because it was already late, Ding Yuejun walked a bit hastily. She didn’t notice what was behind her while crossing the street. When she heard the screech of brakes, she felt someone pull her wrist back.

Although she stumbled, she was fine. When she turned around, she saw Pei Wu’s somewhat tense face.

”Xiao Wu, thank you so much. If it weren’t for you today, I might have really gotten into an accident.” Saying this, she felt a lingering fear and was deeply grateful to Guo Ming. Lately, nothing seemed to go right, and she always encountered danger. Fortunately, Xiao Wu and the others had always been there to protect her.

Seeing that Ding Yuejun was indeed fine, Pei Wu finally relaxed.

”What happened?”

On the other side, a voice from the back seat asked in a deep tone.

The driver quickly said, ”Old Ding, someone was careless while walking and almost got hit. I’ll go check it out.” After getting out of the car, he pointed at Ding Yuejun and scolded, ”How are you walking? Don’t you look around while crossing the street?”

Ding Yuejun frowned at the young driver in front of her and said lightly, ”I was indeed in a hurry just now, but don’t you watch the road either? When you see someone, can’t you stop the car? Luckily, I’m not hurt this time, which is my luck and also yours. If you had hit and killed someone, would you still blame others for not watching the road and say they deserved it?”

She initially planned to apologize, as she was partially at fault too, but seeing the driver’s aggressive demeanor, she lost the mood.

Hearing Ding Yuejun’s words, the driver was speechless with anger.

”You... you’re being unreasonable.”

At this moment, Pei Wu stood in front of Ding Yuejun, looking icily at the driver, as if he would punish him on the spot if he said anything more.

The driver felt a chill seeing Pei Wu like this; his gaze was indeed intimidating.

Not wanting to waste any more time here, Ding Yuejun turned to leave.

At that moment, an old man got out of the car, glanced at the driver, and said, ”Xiao Xiang, apologize immediately.”

Hearing this, Ding Yuejun slowly turned around, glanced at the old man, and said softly, ”No need. I wasn’t injured, so let’s pretend nothing happened.” Then she looked at Pei Wu and said, ”Xiao Wu, let’s go.”

”You... you...”

When the old man saw Ding Yuejun’s face clearly, he froze, standing there speechless, and finally clutched his chest, his face turning red.

”Old Ding...”

The driver Xiao Xiang panicked but reacted quickly, immediately taking a bottle of medicine from Old Ding’s pocket and giving it to the old man.

Even Ding Yuejun was startled.

She only said a few words, but the old man seemed to have fallen ill. Would they blame her for this later? Thinking of this, she anxiously looked at Old Ding.

Fortunately, the medicine worked quickly, and the old master gradually recovered. He then hurried forward, looking at Ding Yuejun excitedly and asking, ”What’s your name?”

Seeing the old man so excited, Ding Yuejun frowned subtly and stepped back slightly, saying, ”I’m really fine, and there’s no need for apologies. I have things to do, so I’ll be going.” Without looking back, she ran off.

”Hey... wait a moment.”

Old Master Ding didn’t expect Ding Yuejun to run off directly, nearly catching him off guard. He then immediately told Xiao Xiang, ”Why are you standing there? Go after her!”

Xiao Xiang looked at the old man inquisitively and asked, ”Old Ding, are we really going to chase her just to apologize?” He felt it was unnecessary since the woman did bear some responsibility in the incident. ”Besides, Old Ding, if I go after her, you’ll be here alone, and I wouldn’t feel at ease.”

If something happened to Old Master Ding while he was chasing her, he really wouldn’t want to live anymore, which is why he didn’t immediately run after her.

”You...”

Old Master Ding was so angry he almost coughed up blood.

However, Ding Yuejun’s figure was long gone, and he could only glance at Xiao Xiang resentfully and said, ”Hurry... hurry home.” He needed to send someone to investigate that woman; she resembled his late wife so much, almost making him feel as if he had returned to his youth. Back then, Little Meng was just as young.

Xiao Xiang, seeing Old Master Ding’s pale face, felt uneasy. Perhaps he indeed... did something wrong, so he didn’t delay and immediately drove back to the Ding Family.

Once home, Old Master Ding promptly dismissed Xiao Xiang and began making calls to initiate an investigation.

”Xiao Xiang, didn’t you just drop Old Ding off? Why are you so dejected, were you criticized?”

Seeing it was Sister in law Chang, who always cared for him, Xiao Xiang couldn’t help but say, ”I think I might have made a mistake.”

”What’s going on? Your job is just to drive Old Ding around; what else could go wrong? Did you take the wrong route today?” Sister in law Chang asked curiously, then quickly comforted, ”But Old Ding is always kind, he wouldn’t criticize you just for that.”

”I didn’t take the wrong route.”

Xiao Xiang immediately clarified; he was a qualified driver and never took the wrong route.

”So what’s up?”

Seeing Sister in law Chang’s curiosity, Xiao Xiang thought today’s Old Ding was odd, so he recounted his experiences on the road and concluded, ”I was thinking about Old Ding, but he got so mad. I should have chased after her if I knew.”

Sister in law Chang felt a bit puzzled after hearing Xiao Xiang’s story but didn’t press further. She gently consoled him, patting his shoulder and saying, ”Alright, don’t be down. Maybe Old Ding is upset about something else.”

After sharing his story, Xiao Xiang indeed felt much better. He bade goodbye to Sister in law Chang and went back inside.

Watching Xiao Xiang walk away, Sister in law Chang looked around before heading to the backyard.

Chen Meilian saw Sister in law Chang and couldn’t help but ask, ”Where did that old guy go today?”
