The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 280: Chapter 279: Pretentious

The landlady, upon hearing Gu Tingyu’s words, looked the two of them over with some confusion, then asked, ”Aren’t you two a young couple?” ”We... are a young couple.”

Thinking about how the two of them were about to get engaged, Gu Tingyu admitted it directly.

The landlady, upon hearing this, said outright, ”Since you are, then just stay in one room. Besides, there’s no other place to stay in our village aside from our place, if you don’t stay here, you’ll be out in the wild.”

Gu Tingyu frowned and said, ”Even if yours is the only place to stay, we could ask to stay overnight at someone else’s home.”

”You might not know this, but even though other people’s homes might let you stay, they’re not as formal as ours. Every room here has a bathroom with heated water. Whether it’s taking a shower or going to the toilet, it’s very convenient. But if you stay at someone else’s house, it wouldn’t be so convenient. Just washing up would be an issue, not to mention using the toilet in the middle of the night.”

Talking about her own house, the landlady’s face was full of pride. She confidently claimed that even the inns in town weren’t as well-equipped as theirs.

Seeing Gu Tingyu was about to speak, Yiyi directly interjected with a smile: ”Then just one room.”

The landlady heard this and couldn’t help but smile, ”The young lady is straightforward. Alright, here’s the key, head upstairs directly.”

Upon hearing this, Yiyi took the key with a smile and walked ahead.

Gu Tingyu silently followed behind Yiyi when he saw this.

Upon entering the room, they found the bed was large, and there was also an extra quilt in the cabinet, which made Gu Tingyu breathe a sigh of relief. He said, ”Yiyi, I’ll sleep on the floor later, and you can have the bed.”

”No need, this bed is big enough for both of us. Later, we’ll each have a quilt, and it’ll be perfectly fine.”

Yiyi saw that Gu Tingyu didn’t say anything and couldn’t help but laugh, ”Do you think you can’t control yourself and will take advantage of me at night?”

”Of course not.”

Gu Tingyu said decisively, his face full of certainty.

”Then it’s settled, so what are you worried about?”

Upon hearing Yiyi’s words, Gu Tingyu didn’t dwell on it and started unpacking. Once everything was tidied up, he invited Yiyi to go out for a stroll.

”Gu Tingyu, you’re really nice.”

Yiyi sincerely remarked.

Just now, she was sitting in a chair doing nothing while Gu Tingyu tidied everything up, placing clothes in the cabinet, toiletries in the bathroom, and slippers by the bed. He accomplished everything that needed to be done, and when she got up to help, he even pushed her back into her chair.

Seeing the little girl’s eyes shining at him, Gu Tingyu couldn’t help but stroke her hair and said, ”Since you’re so wonderful, I naturally need to do my best. Alright, let’s go out for a walk.”

Yiyi stood up with a smile and directly took Gu Tingyu’s hand, leading him outside.

Seeing the little girl being so proactive, Gu Tingyu felt a sweetness in his heart, like it was soaked in honey, and let her lead him out.

The landlady saw them about to go out and smilingly suggested, ”You can check out the small farmhouse restaurant near the village entrance; it has the best food around here, and there are also quite a few snack stalls there.”

”Sure, thank you, landlady.”

Yiyi expressed her thanks and took Gu Tingyu towards the village entrance.

Watching them leave, the landlady murmured softly, ”Men can be so fussy. They’re a young couple but insisted on keeping up appearances about needing two rooms. Look at them, happily holding hands as they walk away. The young lady is truly straightforward and cute.”

Yiyi and Gu Tingyu didn’t hear this, and by then, they’d slowly reached the village entrance.

It was already late, and indeed, every household had hung up lanterns, illuminating the village roads brightly. Even though it was the cold of winter, the couple felt warm walking along the road, not feeling cold at all.

”This place is indeed impressive; I didn’t expect such a small mountain village to be so well-kept.”

Gu Tingyu nodded with satisfaction as he looked at the scenery along the way. He truly didn’t expect to find such a secluded paradise here in such a small place.

Yiyi was also very pleased and agreed, ”Yeah, it really is impressive.”

Chatting and laughing, the two of them reached the farmhouse restaurant at the village entrance, but since they were a bit late, it was already full of people inside.

”Sorry, the two of you. Recently, there have been many people coming to see the plum blossoms in Meiling, so more people are dining here. If you wait a bit, you’ll have seats shortly.”

Upon seeing the landlady apologize profusely, Yiyi shook her head with a smile, ”No worries, we’ll just wait a little while.”

Fortunately, the wait wasn’t too long, and Yiyi and Gu Tingyu soon had a place to sit.

”We don’t have much left today; take a look. If you’re not satisfied, the surrounding snack stalls are quite good, too. You can have a little bite and then try some snacks, and it’ll be enough.”

Yiyi glanced at the menu and found there wasn’t much left, only chicken soup, braised fish, and some vegetables. But that would suffice. ”Then let’s have a chicken soup, a braised radish with fish, and some stir-fried cabbage.”

”Alright, I’ll get it started.”

Seeing there were only three dishes, Gu Tingyu directly suggested, ”How about I check outside for some snacks to bring back and eat together?”

”No need, this is definitely enough food. If we’re still not full, we can buy snacks along the way back, isn’t that better?”

Hearing this, Gu Tingyu found that reasonable, but soon he realized his worry was unnecessary. The chicken soup came in a big pot, and so did the radish with fish. Only the stir-fried cabbage was on a regular plate.

”Definitely more than enough.”

Hearing this, Yiyi laughed heartily.

Seeing this, Gu Tingyu laughed along, then served a bowl of chicken soup for Yiyi to warm her stomach a bit.

Yiyi took the bowl and started drinking. Nowadays, the chickens were home-reared, and the flavor was truly good. The chicken was fresh, as if it had just been slaughtered. ”It’s delicious, you should drink a bowl, too.”

Gu Tingyu also served himself a bowl and drank it up.

The two didn’t eat quickly, and after finishing their meal, they prepared to return to their accommodation.

However, even with full stomachs, Yiyi couldn’t resist buying some snacks to take back upon seeing so many delicious items.

”Yiyi, you go wash your face and brush your teeth first, I’ll prepare the bed.”

Upon hearing this, Yiyi didn’t refuse and went to the bathroom to wash up. When she came out, Gu Tingyu had already made the bed. ”Gu Tingyu, you’d better wash your face and brush your teeth too.”

When Gu Tingyu came out, Yiyi began to feel a bit shy. She hadn’t thought it was an issue before, but once they were actually lying down together, her face turned red.
