The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 268: Chapter 267: The Selection

Wei Zhirong quietly looked up at Xie Yuanzhou, seeing him already striding ahead, and quickly followed.

After the two exited the mall, Xie Yuanzhou realized that he hadn’t bought anything. He had come here today specifically to buy a birthday gift for his older brother. But after meeting Yiyi and Gu Tingyu and chatting for a bit, he completely forgot about it.

Thinking of this, Xie Yuanzhou frowned slightly.

The gift hadn’t been bought yet, but he was unwilling to go back now. Besides... for some reason, he suddenly felt a bit down.

When Wei Zhirong came over, she saw Xie Yuanzhou standing there not moving, and she asked curiously, ”Why aren’t you walking?”

Xie Yuanzhou turned to look at her, ”Wei Zixiao’s sister?”

”Yes... My brother is Wei Zixiao, we... we’ve met three times before.” Wei Zhirong spoke and then lowered her head, her ears slightly red. A girl who was originally gallant and bold suddenly became a bit shy.

Xie Yuanzhou hadn’t paid much attention to Wei Zhirong before, so naturally he didn’t notice any difference in her. At this moment, he just slightly frowned and said, ”Seems like we met only once.”

Hearing this, a trace of loneliness flashed across Wei Zhirong’s eyes. It seemed Xie Yuanzhou hadn’t noticed her at all. But she quickly collected herself, raised her head, and said, ”So where are we going now?”

Xie Yuanzhou gave Wei Zhirong a puzzled glance and said, ”Naturally, going back to our respective homes. Where else do you want to go?”

”I... I thought we might go somewhere else to stroll around.”

Wei Zhirong had rarely had the chance to encounter Xie Yuanzhou today and naturally didn’t want to go home so soon. However, seeing his indifferent expression, she felt she might be overthinking.

But Xie Yuanzhou remembered he hadn’t bought the gift yet, so he glanced at Wei Zhirong and said, ”Do you know where else we can buy things?”

”I know, there’s another mall on the next street, we can go there.” Hearing Xie Yuanzhou’s question, Wei Zhirong immediately replied with bright eyes, looking at him expectantly for his response.

”Since that’s the case, let’s go there.” Xie Yuanzhou nodded and was ready to go there to buy a gift for his older brother.

Wei Zhirong felt full of joy, happily leading the way ahead.

On the other side, Yiyi watched the backs of Wei Zhirong and Xie Yuanzhou as they left and couldn’t help but say, ”Didn’t expect Shangjing to be such a small place; everyone seems to know each other.”

Gu Tingyu smiled at her words and said, ”Yeah, sometimes you really find that everyone knows each other.” However, he was still curious about how Yiyi knew Wei Zhirong, and after hearing the story, he couldn’t help but look displeased and said, ”There are still such idle punks on the street, looks like next time we need to take care of them properly.”

Seeing Gu Tingyu’s angry appearance, Yiyi couldn’t help but laugh and said, ”Don’t worry, I’m fine. Just when I was about to make a move, Zhirong came forward to help. She’s really a kind-hearted girl.”

Hearing this, Gu Tingyu nodded and said, ”Zixiao’s sister has always been like that, being helpful. When she was young, she often played with us like a tough little boy. I didn’t expect her to grow up so quickly; still, she’s not much different from when she was younger, like a little boy.”

Yiyi couldn’t help but squint a glance at Gu Tingyu and said, ”Zhirong doesn’t particularly seem like a boy. She’s so beautiful, you can tell she’s a girl at first glance.”

Seeing Yiyi speak like this, Gu Tingyu couldn’t help but glance at her and then didn’t say more. Actually, he never found Wei Zhirong beautiful, looking like a tomboy, but since she said so, he naturally couldn’t refute.

”Alright Yiyi, let’s head back first. Maybe Grandpa and Grandma are already ready.”

Hearing this, Yiyi shook her head and said, ”I won’t be going to Grandpa and Grandma’s place. I’d better go home and tell my mom first, so she will be prepared.”

”Alright then, I’ll take you back first.”

Gu Tingyu found Yiyi’s words reasonable and directly nodded.

”No need, I can go back by myself. You should quickly go see how Grandpa and Grandma are getting on.”

In the end, Gu Tingyu insisted on sending Yiyi back home before returning.

Ding Yuejun, seeing her daughter come back so early, couldn’t help but ask, ”Why are you back so early today? I thought you’d definitely have lunch at the elders’ place before coming back.”

”Mom, Grandpa and Grandma will come over later.”

Hearing this, Ding Yuejun hurriedly asked, ”When? Do the elders have something important?”

Yiyi briefly explained the visit regarding the proposal.

”Didn’t expect Mr. and Old Mrs. Gu to be so eager. But that’s good; it shows how much they value you. If they pick a suitable date, you and Tingyu should get engaged early,” Ding Yuejun was quite pleased, but after a while, she couldn’t help but say, ”Why isn’t it Tingyu’s parents coming over? Logically, since both of you are getting engaged, as future in-laws, they should be the ones coming over.”

Recalling Yu Qiulan’s previous attitude towards her, Yiyi didn’t particularly like this future mother-in-law. ”Isn’t it better to have Grandpa and Grandma?”

Seeing her daughter say this, Ding Yuejun didn’t ask further but quickly went to prepare tea and snacks, just waiting for the two elders of the Gu Family to come over.

Just as Ding Yuejun finished preparing things, Gu Tingyu came over with the two elders.

”Yue Jun, Yiyi, we are here,”

Old Mrs. Gu happily called out as soon as she entered the door.

Hearing the voice, Yiyi immediately smiled and went to greet them, ”Grandpa, Grandma, please come in and have a seat.”

After Old Mrs. Gu entered the room, she sat down with a smile and after chatting with Yiyi for a while, she looked at Ding Yuejun with a beaming face and said, ”Yue Jun, we’re here today to settle the marriage between the two children. Even though Yiyi is still studying, they can still get engaged first.”

Ding Yuejun had no reservations as she had already agreed in her heart, nodding directly without further thought.

Seeing Ding Yuejun nod, Old Mrs. Gu’s face was all smiles. She then took out a bag and pushed it in front of Ding Yuejun saying, ”Yue Jun, consider these as the engagement gifts from Tingyu. Please accept them.”

Ding Yuejun accepted them directly without hesitation.

Seeing this, Old Mrs. Gu quickly took out a booklet and showed the selected dates to Ding Yuejun, ”Yue Jun, which date do you think is good?”

Looking at the dates in front of her, Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but nod and finally chose a date after the new year, ”Let’s set it at the end of the first month.”

Mr. Gu and Old Mrs. Gu had no objections and agreed with smiles. It was only Gu Tingyu who seemed a bit disappointed. He knew there was another date before the new year, but since Ding Yuejun had chosen, he naturally had no objections.
