Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2381: Chapter 1790: Why Am I Always the Unlucky One? (2)

This car belongs to the deputy mayor of the neighboring city, Tori. It’s likely that Mr. Tori’s driver won’t let this matter rest.

Through the car window, Bai Xiaosheng saw the official who came to handle the incident being pulled aside by their car’s driver. The driver seemed to be indicating the identity of the vehicle, and the official’s previously stern demeanor turned to one of surprise.

Bai Xiaosheng wasn’t interested in what was being said or how things were being handled over there.

He merely smiled at Lin Weiwei and said, ”We should be able to leave soon.”

As if confirming Bai Xiaosheng’s judgment, indeed, their driver quickly came over, knocked on Lin Weiwei’s side of the car window, and with a smile, said to Bai Xiaosheng and the others, ”Dear guests, please transfer to the car in front. My colleague will take you to your destination. I sincerely apologize for the delay in your journey!”

”Thank you for your effort!” Bai Xiaosheng responded with a slight smile.

”It’s my duty! It’s my duty! I’m just sorry to have kept you waiting here for some time. I hope you can forgive us.” The driver replied respectfully.

Afterward, Bai Xiaosheng and the others got out of the car and walked to the car in front.

On the other side, Jenny looked at Bai Xiaosheng and company with anger, even pointing at them while arguing with the official, her voice vaguely audible, ”Why can they leave? They are also involved.”

The official replied coldly, ”Sorry, ma’am, if you have any complaints, you can file them against me. But right now, I’m in charge! Given your attitude, I’m now accusing you of not cooperating with the investigation and attempting to resist the law. Please come with me for an investigation.”

Jenny’s angry words unnecessarily got her into more trouble.

This was still considered mild; if it were in America, it would have been far more severe.

Bai Xiaosheng and the others completely ignored the situation over there and got into the car.

The car then started and drove away.

Lin Weiwei, seeing the situation through the rearview mirror, said with a bit of schadenfreude, ”Looks like she won’t be leaving anytime soon!”

...

On the way, Bai Xiaosheng asked the driver to take them to a hotel in the East District to stay.

It was already late today. With the traffic accident earlier, there was no time to visit the Zhenbei Group’s African division company.

Fortunately, they still had half a day tomorrow morning, which should be enough for a visit.

Bai Xiaosheng intended to use the identity of the Huaxia Business Group instead of his position in the group to visit the company, thinking it might make the other party less guarded and more revealing.

Of course, in terms of specific operations, the three of them needed to deliberate further once they arrived at the hotel.

The driver naturally had no objection to Bai Xiaosheng’s request. Being familiar with Dilu City, he directly took them to the largest local five-star hotel...

Outside the hotel, the driver bade farewell, and Bai Xiaosheng expressed his gratitude to Mr. Tori.

After checking in at the hotel, Bai Xiaosheng and the others went to their rooms.

On the way to the room, Bai Xiaosheng asked Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying to drop off their things and come to his place, as they needed to prepare for their early trip to the Zhenbei Group’s ”Green Sky” company the following day.

While Bai Xiaosheng and his companions returned to their rooms, Jenny and her group were at the police station being questioned.

Fortunately, she quickly adopted a humble attitude, accepting the penalties and compensations fully.

The officer in charge of the case was quite satisfied with Jenny’s attitude. After seeing her fill out all the forms, he said to her, ”Miss Jenny, do you have a guarantor here? If you do and they pay the bail, you can leave.”

Faced with the inquiry, Jenny forced a smile and said, ”I’ve already called my friends. I’m sure they’ll arrive soon.”

As she said this, Jenny was secretly reluctant.

If not for the fact that she didn’t want to spend the night in a ”single room” here, she really didn’t want to trouble the people here. She came all the way from America to discuss business, not to have someone bail her out of the police station. It made her lose face, and also embarrassed her boss back in America.

Just then, someone gently knocked on the office door.

Subsequently, a police officer poked his head in and said to the officer opposite Jenny, ”Chief, there’s a lawyer outside to see you. He says he’s Miss Jenny’s guarantor.”

The officer looked at Jenny, nodded, and said, ”Let him in.”

Then, the door opened, and a man in a suit, wearing gold-rimmed glasses and carrying a briefcase, entered with a smile. He first smiled at the chief, then nodded and smiled at Jenny.

”Hello, Chief. I’m here to pay the fine and handle the procedures for Miss Jenny. I’m from the legal department of Green Sky Company.”

Upon hearing this, the chief eyed the visitor with some surprise, ”Green Sky, a company under Zhenbei Group? I didn’t expect Miss Jenny to have such a background.”

...

Jenny and her fellow travelers left the police station with the lawyer, but she couldn’t help but frown as she glanced back.

This time her visit certainly made her quite a sensation, requiring someone to bail her out of here...

She’d lost face!

The lawyer said to Jenny with a smile, ”Knowing that you were coming, we had already prepared a room at the best hotel. I’ll take you there now. Have a nice bath and a good night’s sleep, and all the day’s unpleasantness will soon disappear. You’ll be in a good mood when you visit the company tomorrow.”

Jenny turned, smiled at him, and nodded.

Then, they got into two cars parked by the roadside.

The cars sped towards the hotel.

Under the nightfall, the East District of Dilu City was quite bustling. However, to Jenny, who came from a big city in America, it still seemed somewhat cold and desolate.

At that moment, all Jenny wanted was to get back to the hotel, take a nice bath, enjoy a hearty dinner, and then sleep soundly, completely forgetting today’s disastrous experience and those damned Huaxia people.

An hour later, they arrived at the hotel.

The lawyer helped arrange the check-in and then left.

Jenny returned to her room. She would have dinner sent up later, not even bothering to go downstairs again.

Once in the room, Jenny found the hotel setup to be quite comfortable. The room even had high-end audio equipment, which improved her mood somewhat.

She kicked off her high heels and went to the minibar to pour herself a glass of red wine, drinking one glass and then another.

Then, Jenny wandered over to the sound system and played a piece of soothing symphonic music.

With music and wine, the feeling was indeed rather pleasant.

After listening to the symphony, Jenny got the mood, put down the wine glass, and pulled out a pair of hard-soled shoes from her luggage. Changing to a piece of vigorous dance music, she began to perform a self-created fitness dance combining elements of tap, rumba, and cha-cha.

Accompanied by the stimulating music, she threw off her public facade and expressed her wild nature. With great vitality and effort, Jenny danced energetically.

The sound of hard soles hitting the hotel room’s floor produced a crisp sound, giving her a sense of exhilaration.

In her imagination, that damned Huaxia person was like the floor beneath her feet, being trampled upon. It made Jenny feel satisfied, and she couldn’t help but say, ”Don’t let me see you again! Or I’ll make you regret it!”

At this moment, Bai Xiaosheng and the others in the room downstairs were disturbed by the noise from above, forced to halt their discussion and look up at the ceiling.

”What’s going on upstairs?” Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but ask.

Lin Weiwei frowned, ”Judging from the noise, someone is dancing. It’s really just a mess late at night!”

”Do you need me to go take a look?” Lei Ying inquired.

Bai Xiaosheng waved his hand, ”No need, just call the front desk and let them handle it. Besides, judging by that noise, the person upstairs won’t last long.”

Possibly confirming Bai Xiaosheng’s words, shortly after Lin Weiwei called the front desk, the noise upstairs ceased.

Lin Weiwei couldn’t help but mutter, ”I bet the person upstairs must be an uncultured, chubby foreign lady, at least two hundred pounds!”
