This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

The woman turned around and glared at Du Heng. ”Why? Is it against the law for me to sleep with this shameless man?”

Du Heng, an honest man, was taken aback by such brazen language and was left a bit breathless. After a pause, he said, ”You’ve misunderstood, Madam. This gentleman has an infectious disease. According to national regulations, you both must be investigated and treated together.

Therefore, it’s best for both of you to go to the hospital for a check-up.

If you’re fine, then there’s nothing to worry about. Even if something is found, you can choose not to undergo treatment, as long as you comply with infectious disease prevention and control requirements.

As for privacy, besides those directly involved, no one else will be informed. This is also a clear national requirement.”

The woman spun around coquettishly. ”I’m fine! I don’t feel uncomfortable, and I don’t have those disgusting red bumps.”

The corner of Du Heng’s eye twitched, but he patiently responded, ”Madam, this disease has a certain incubation period. During this time, no visible symptoms may appear. Only when the toxins erupt and it enters the first stage will there be obvious physical symptoms.

Based on this gentleman’s description, if you two have been intimate within the past three months, it would be best to get checked.

If nothing is wrong, then that’s certainly a good thing. If, unfortunately, something is wrong, judging by your current external condition, there would likely be no obvious lasting complications after recovery.

However, if you wait until the disease enters the first or even second stage, although it can be cured, it will leave lifelong complications.”

Speaking, Du Heng pointed to the red bumps on the man. ”Like this gentleman’s condition, once these red sores ulcerate and rupture, very obvious scars will remain on your skin.”

The woman glanced at the man’s face and arm, and finally, she reluctantly stopped. After looking him over a couple of times, she asked Du Heng, ”Doctor, how long is the incubation period for this disease? Why is this scoundrel in this state, yet I have no problems at all?”

The man, who had been called a scoundrel, glared menacingly at the woman, but she stared right back without a hint of fear. Judging by the look in her eyes, if she weren’t afraid of dirtying her hands, she would have definitely clawed his face.

The man was also incredibly frustrated.

The woman claimed she only had two regular partners. He also only had her and his wife, making two regular partners for him as well.

Then, thinking of the woman’s bookish husband, he felt her husband couldn’t have been the source.

However, this conclusion only made him feel even worse, as if his heart was being clawed.

His own wife was the source? How was this possible?

While the man was lost in thought, Du Heng began explaining to the woman beside him, ”Generally, the incubation period for this kind of disease is very short, only two to three weeks. However, there are also cases where the incubation period is much longer.

This gentleman, for instance, has a severe original yang deficiency, so his body’s resistance to the bayberry toxin is much lower than that of a normal person. Basically, once infected, the disease will manifest directly within two or three days.

This is due to his own constitution; his onset was rapid, and his condition progressed quickly. In just two weeks, he has already advanced to the second stage.

Such cases are generally quite rare.”

The woman couldn’t bear it anymore. She swung her bag at the man, who yelped, ”Are you crazy?”

”I think you’re the one who’s crazy!” the woman retorted angrily, looking at the man. ”Did you hear what the doctor said? Why didn’t your deficiency just kill you, instead of you coming here to infect me!

I told you long ago to take it easy! I told you to rest for a couple of days after being with your wife.

You not only didn’t listen, you even bragged about being a ’wolf of seven times a night’! Now look at you! You’re a wreck, aren’t you? Still going on about ’seven times a night’? Seven times a night, my ass!”

Getting worked up again, she swung her bag at the man once more.

”Enough!” Du Heng reprimanded sternly in a low voice. ”Madam, have you made up your mind? Do you want to go to the hospital for a check-up together?”

The woman angrily put down her bag, turned to Du Heng, and asked, ”Doctor, I want to ask, what are the consequences if I don’t get checked?”

”I’ve already explained that. You weren’t listening carefully, were you?” Du Heng looked at the woman with a cold gaze. He was really fed up with these two. ”First,” he continued, ”if you’re unfortunately infected too, dragging this out will only worsen your condition. It allows the virus to further harm your body and makes future treatment more difficult.

Secondly, if you’ve been informed by the concerned party and the doctor but still infect others during this period, you must bear both criminal and civil responsibilities.

Of course, if you clearly inform the other party and they don’t mind, then you can pretend I never said that.

But if you deliberately conceal it, the other party can sue you, and they’ll win for sure.”

As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, the woman glared fiercely at the man. After a few seconds, she turned back to Du Heng. ”Doctor, which hospital should we go to for the check-up and treatment? Can they guarantee our privacy?”

”Here’s the situation: This gentleman has chosen to go to the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital for my treatment. I don’t know what you would prefer,” Du Heng said calmly. ”First of all, I must clarify that I am a TCM practitioner, and I use traditional Chinese medicine therapies.

If you don’t trust traditional Chinese medicine, it’s best to choose a hospital that practices Western medicine. I can give you a recommendation.

As for your question about privacy, that depends on what happens next with you.”

The woman was taken aback. ”What do you mean?”

”If your check-up shows no problems, then the matter ends with you, and no one beyond the immediate parties involved will know. But if you are unfortunately infected, then, like this gentleman, you must notify anyone you’ve had intimate contact with to come for a virus screening.”

”This...” The woman was so agitated that her chest heaved. Her exposed, beautiful navel seemed to pulse with her breathing. ”Doctor, are you sure he has... he has that disgusting disease?”

Du Heng nodded. ”I’m quite certain about the diagnosis, but before you both accept treatment, you still need to undergo a viral test.”

The woman frowned. ”Aren’t you a TCM practitioner? Why do we still need to undergo those tests?”

Du Heng patiently explained, ”This falls under Class B Infectious Diseases. We need to submit the data to the Disease Control Center for their records.”

”Ah? So, do we need to be quarantined for treatment?”

”That’s not necessary,” Du Heng shook his head lightly. ”Although this disease is highly contagious, its transmission routes are very limited.

Therefore, the treatment for this disease is similar to that for common illnesses. You don’t need to worry about that.”

The woman took a deep breath. ”Alright, then I’ll choose to let you treat me too. After all, I don’t know who would do a better job. Besides, you could identify the disease without an examination; your medical skills must be excellent.”

”Good. I’ll contact the relevant doctor for you now. You should go for the check-up immediately. The sooner you know the results, the better it will be for you.”

After saying that, Du Heng picked up the phone and called Director Gao Qin of the Gynecology Department.

Generally speaking, diseases like syphilis are usually handled by the dermatology or infectious disease departments in comprehensive hospitals. However, the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital doesn’t have these departments, so patients can only be referred to the Gynecology Department.

”I’ve contacted them for you. Go to the hospital and find Director Gao Qin of the Gynecology Department. She will arrange your check-ups. The results should be available by tomorrow morning at the latest.”

The woman huffed and nodded. Turning to see the man still sitting on the stool, she couldn’t resist hitting him with her bag again.

”What are you doing?”

”You imbecile!”

After scolding him, the woman stormed off, her heels going TAP, TAP, TAP, without a backward glance at the man.

At this point, the man seemed to come to his senses. He rose slowly and only bid Du Heng farewell and departed after the woman was some distance away.

After the two had left, Wei Kaida came down from the second floor.

Du Heng shook his head, a smile of bafflement on his face, looked at Wei Kaida and asked, ”Why did you go upstairs and stay there?”

Wei Kaida smiled bitterly. ”I know that woman. It’s awkward.”
