This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

However, Du Heng gently shook his head and said, ”You can hold off on the referral for the pediatric patient to the Hematology Department at Provincial First Hospital. We have already started treatment, so there is no need to transfer them for now.”

Lu Guangying was stunned for a moment and said in surprise, ”Dean, didn’t you mention before that this pediatric patient has acute granulocytic leukemia?”

”That’s right.” Du Heng nodded. ”That’s what the information found with the pediatric patient indicated.”

Lu Guangying became anxious. ”Dean, that’s acute leukemia! Our hospital doesn’t have the capability to treat this disease. We should transfer the pediatric patient to Provincial First Hospital. Their Hematology Department has extensive experience with this disease.”

Hearing Lu Guangying’s somewhat anxious words, Du Heng could roughly discern her unspoken concerns. She means that transferring the pediatric patient to Provincial First Hospital could both reduce trouble and save the hospital some expenses. After all, pediatric patients like this one, with no guardians, involve the most difficult paperwork, especially if the worst should happen. Then the paperwork becomes even more troublesome. Moreover, there was another concern. If those parents who had disappeared were to suddenly reappear, it would be enough to make one lose all their hair. And under these circumstances, regardless of the cost, all expenses for this pediatric patient would be borne by the hospital and the Department. Given the current situation of the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital, and the cost of treating leukemia, it would inevitably be a painful financial blow.

”There’s no need for now. I’ve already prescribed medicine for the pediatric patient.” As Du Heng spoke, he discreetly glanced at his external application, but noticing the addition of a dozen or so new numbers made him uncertain.

He didn’t know if these new numbers included this pediatric patient’s statistics. Alternatively, they might just be from patients who had used the Scald Ointment and bone injury ointment.

Du Heng suddenly felt a bit perplexed. Such a great external application feature, and he’d somehow managed to render it useless.

”You’ve prescribed medicine... Can traditional Chinese medicine...” Lu Guangying, who had been very agitated, suddenly couldn’t continue.

She didn’t know if traditional Chinese medicine could treat leukemia. But as for whether Du Heng could... she genuinely couldn’t say, nor did she dare to. After interacting with him for the better part of half a year, Du Heng struck her as an incredibly peculiar person. No matter what problem arose, Du Heng always seemed to resolve it through his work as a doctor. The hospital previously had no patients? Not an issue for him. He personally ran the outpatient service and launched a medical science popularization account. He also secured the backing of influential public figures and initiated projects the hospital desperately needed. He had single-handedly transformed a hospital so deserted one could catch sparrows at its door into the bustling, crowded place it was today.

So, there were certain things she didn’t dare say too definitively, especially when it concerned Du Heng; she had to weigh her words carefully.

Du Heng’s mouth twitched slightly. Lu Guangying’s unfinished sentence left him unsure how to respond.

After a prolonged and awkward silence, Du Heng suddenly suggested, ”Let’s go check on the pediatric patient’s condition. It’s been over half an hour since the medicine was administered.”

Lu Guangying also secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She had just been on the verge of questioning traditional Chinese medicine right in front of the dean of a Chinese Medicine Hospital! That had made her feel slightly embarrassed.

Fortunately, Du Heng provided a way out, easing the awkwardness for everyone.
