This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Upon seeing Du Heng, Xixi’s father immediately showed extreme enthusiasm and excitement, reaching out his hand from afar. ”Doctor Du, thank you, thank you.”

Du Heng quickly reached out, and their hands joined together. ”Don’t mention it; it’s what I should do.”

But Xixi’s father didn’t let go, instead gripping Du Heng’s hand with both of his own. ”Doctor Du, I really want to thank you. If it weren’t for you that day, I might have... might have...”

Before he could finish two sentences, Xixi’s father’s eyes welled up, and he began to choke with emotion.

As a single father who had raised his daughter from a toddler to her current age, it could be said his entire essence, qi, and spirit were devoted to her. It could even be said that this girl was the hope and motivation for his life. He couldn’t imagine what would become of him if something happened to her.

Du Heng understood Xixi’s father’s feelings. He instinctively reached out his other hand and gently patted the back of the man’s hand. ”Don’t get too emotional. Xixi is doing fine now, isn’t she?”

Xixi’s father took a deep breath, and after suppressing his agitated emotions, he slowly said, ”I’ve been wanting to thank you for a long time, Doctor Du. Shizhen and I found out where you work.

It’s just that I wasn’t comfortable leaving this girl alone in the hospital with no one to look after her, so it kept getting delayed.

Moreover, you injured your waist because of my child, and yet you’ve still come to see her. I’m truly ashamed.”

Du Heng’s smile was gentle, and he patted Xixi’s father’s hand again. ”It’s all for the child. As long as Xixi is healthy, everything else is trivial.”

After talking with Xixi’s father, Du Heng approached Xixi. However, the little girl was even more silent than the first time they met. No matter what questions Du Heng asked, she just clung tightly to her father’s clothes and looked at Du Heng without a word.

Seeing this, Du Heng stopped asking questions. After obtaining Xixi’s father’s consent, and with his help, Du Heng conducted a check-up on the little girl.

Her pulse was thin and rapid, and her tongue coating was pale yellow and greasy.

Having a definite answer in his mind, Du Heng left the hospital room with Jin Zan.

Once they were a short distance from the hospital room, Jin Zan hurriedly asked, ”How is she, Du? Is it heart-kidney yin deficiency?”

Du Heng nodded gently. ”It can be confirmed.”

”Does that mean the current prescription needs to be changed?”

”Of course, it needs to be changed.” Du Heng glanced at Jin Zan. ”But can you change it just because I say so?”

Jin Zan raised his chin. ”Isn’t that a rhetorical question? I’m this girl’s attending physician, so of course, I have the right and responsibility to provide her with better and more effective treatment.”

Du Heng chuckled softly. ”Then that’s good. When we return to the office, I’ll write a house for you. You’ll have to figure out the rest.”

Jin Zan just nodded, not saying anything more on this issue, and asked Du Heng again, ”What’s your plan for treatment?”

”Tonifying the kidney,” Du Heng said simply, just two words.

But those two simple words made Jin Zan frown again. However, since they had already arrived at the office and happened to run into a colleague coming out, Jin Zan temporarily put his doubts aside.

By the time they reached his desk, Du Heng had skillfully taken out a pen and paper and, with just a few strokes, wrote out the house.

Jin Zan picked up the prescription, his eyes full of doubt and incomprehension. ”Du, there are only three herbs. Isn’t that too few medicines?” He then put down the prescription. ”Besides, didn’t you say it was heart-kidney yin deficiency before? Why are you only focusing on tonifying the kidney and not addressing the heart fire?”

Du Heng was not surprised by Jin Zan’s questions and said softly, ”The problem with this little girl now is that kidney fire is fighting heart fire, and blood is becoming dry and ascending.

I’m using ophiopogon to treat her lung metal deficiency, and rehmannia and radix scrophulariae to tonify kidney yin and suppress kidney fire. With sufficient kidney water, it can then descend the heart fire. As the fire recedes, the qi will be regulated, and the little girl’s problem will be solved.”

After saying this, Du Heng paused for a moment and continued, ”As for why I use only three medicines, and why I only tonify kidney yin without attending to heart fire, it’s because the little girl is just an eight or nine-year-old child.

Her bodily functions are still in a stage of rapid development. If you give them a slight boost, they can adjust on their own. Therefore, using too many medicines is not only unnecessary but would also burden the child’s body.

Our Traditional Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Department treatment is actually a process of balancing the five viscera. Now that I’m adjusting her kidney yin, the fire will recede, and the five viscera will naturally restore their balance. Why would I do something extra and specifically target heart yin deficiency?”

Jin Zan listened to Du Heng’s explanation, picked up the prescription again, and said, ”Brother, I trust you. I’ll change the prescription later.”

Unexpectedly, Du Heng seemed unfazed by Jin Zan’s trust. ”That’s up to you. If you believe me, then change it. If you don’t, it doesn’t matter.

Worse comes to worst, after the little girl is discharged, I’ll bring her to our hospital for treatment.”

As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, his mobile phone in his pocket rang. When he picked it up and saw that it was Wu Shengnan calling, Du Heng’s face turned pale.

The moment he answered, the irate voice from the receiver confirmed his fears: ”Du Heng, where are you?! Didn’t you say you couldn’t even stand up? Where have you gone now?”
