This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

However, after hearing what the female doctor said, Du Heng’s mood improved considerably.

He had never believed that doctors in his hospital would order X-rays merely for the money, skipping necessary treatment. Now, hearing how responsible this female doctor was, he felt even more pleased.

However, he still needed the female doctor to explain the situation to the patient’s family. After all, only ordering X-rays without providing treatment could lead to trouble if not properly clarified.

”This family member says you arranged an examination for their child but didn’t initiate treatment. Could you explain the situation to them?”

”Alright, Dean.” The female doctor let out a long sigh of relief and glanced at the patient’s family member. She had been worried, and rightly so, that the gossipy woman had already spoken to Du Heng. However, seeing Du Heng’s smiling expression, she felt herself relax.

”It’s like this: when the family member brought the child in, they said the child’s arm hurt. When I tried to examine the child, the child cried and struggled violently. The family member was perhaps afraid I would hurt the child during the examination, so they strongly objected to me performing a hands-on check.”

The female doctor’s words carried an underlying meaning. Although she tried her best to soften her tone, she couldn’t help but let some emotion slip into her words. Du Heng, however, didn’t seem to mind and just listened with a smile.

”Because I couldn’t perform a hands-on physical examination, I had to issue an inspection sheet to diagnose whether it was a soft tissue injury or a bone injury. The inspection sheet indicated the child had a dislocated shoulder, a bone injury. Since our Pediatrics Department primarily focuses on internal medicine and we don’t have orthopedists, I advised the family to rush to the Children Hospital.”

The female doctor glanced at Du Heng. Seeing he was still smiling, she continued with evident relief, ”After the family left, I was still a bit worried, so I contacted my teacher, hoping he could help them.”

Now that the matter was resolved and everything clarified, the woman sincerely thanked the doctor and left with her child.

As the patient’s family walked away, Du Heng said to the female doctor, ”You did a good job. You can go back to work now.”

The female doctor smiled and said quickly, ”Alright, Dean. Goodbye, Dean.”

Just as she turned to leave, Du Heng suddenly called her back. ”Wait, I have a question for you.”

The female doctor stopped and turned back to face Du Heng. ”Yes, Dean?”

”You mentioned your teacher is the Director of Orthopedics, but you’re in Internal Medicine?” Du Heng asked with some confusion.

The female doctor explained with a bit of embarrassment, ”Actually, to be precise, he’s not my teacher, but my husband’s. My husband often took me to visit his teacher, and over time, we became familiar, so I started calling him ’Teacher’ as well.”

Du Heng looked at the female doctor with some surprise. ”Your husband is also a doctor?”

”Yes, he is an attending physician in orthopedics, working at West Lake District Hospital.”

”That’s quite far, isn’t it? Is the commute home inconvenient?”

The female doctor nodded in agreement. ”Yes, it takes two hours to get home every day.”

Du Heng nodded. ”That must be tough. Alright, you can go back to work now. I have other things to attend to.”

The female doctor glanced at Du Heng, puzzled, wondering why he had called her back. But since he had dismissed her, she returned to the consultation room to continue her work.

Once back in his car, Du Heng thought for a moment and then made a call. ”Qiu, are you busy right now?”

”A bit busy, but it’s fine. Go ahead, Dean, what is it?”

”There’s a female doctor in the Pediatrics Department with the surname Fu, do you know her?”

”There’s only one doctor named Fu in the Pediatrics Department. Yes, I know her.”

”Her husband is an orthopedic doctor at West Lake District Hospital. Do you know anything about their situation?”

There was a brief silence on the other end of the line before Qiu replied, ”I have some recollection, but I don’t know the specifics.”

”Look into Dr. Fu’s husband for me. Find out how skilled he is.”

”What do you mean, Dean?”

”If his skills are up to par, see if we can recruit him to our hospital.” Du Heng switched the phone to his other hand and continued, ”Our hospital is severely lacking in orthopedics right now. It’s such an important department. Even if we can’t establish it as a standalone department yet, we still need doctors who can treat bone diseases. We can’t attract top-tier talent, but I think someone like Dr. Fu’s husband might be a more realistic possibility.”

”Alright, Dean. I’ll take care of this right away,” Qiu agreed promptly.

Du Heng hung up, a faint smile playing on his lips.

It’s time to get the ball rolling on establishing some of these essential departments.

Dr. Fu’s conduct today had particularly pleased him, so he was still smiling when he arrived at Provincial First Hospital.
